Alright guys, I think I'm set for going down.

I REALLY need a green light on someone bringing a lagless HD though.

You're covered. I got my new asus monitor. I believe it can run composite cables. Let me check. Nope. Sucks for you. I will bring my other monitor, which lags by 2 frames, according to Spirit Juice; that's pretty standard.

Anyway, I got school later today. I'll have to focus on that. I've got a few images I can use for the photoshop idea, and I will try to bounce ideas in my head for a decent promotional flier. I don't need this to be printed or anything. Just something to commemorate the event.

I will not play a tournament match on 2 frames if I can play it on 0. just saying

I figure you already know this, but all HD monitors lag. Asus monitors lag, but it's not noticeable. I'm not sure how much they lag though. I've heard from half a frame to 2 frames.

2 frames, on a game where there are necessary windows of 1-4 frames, is a big deal. It can change a lot.

I do a lot of my combo timing visually, as there is no easier cue. It can be the difference between finishing a combo with oki and 4 seals and only getting one seal and dropping the combo.

I'm just saying, it's hard for me to say it's a good idea to record us playing worse than we should be instead of everyone playing at the best caliber possible.

Which is more or less okay, considering how the taito x2 hardware itself lags a bit. (or so I am [probably mistakenly] told)

This is true. Going from arcade to a 2 frame lag monitor, you won't even notice. Even from arcade to a CRT and console you won't even notice a difference.

Well if use your remote for the HDTV (Is that what you mean by "other monitor"?) and check if it has "game mode" or something similar. It should help if it does. If its the same TV as we played on, the lag wasn't THAT bad from what I remember :/

Promotional video CAN be made.. I just dunno if its worth the time investment. I can already see Spirit saying "ITS JUST ONE RANBAT... NIGGA"

:v:

most arcade i/o boards lag a bit.

the typex2, iirc, lags by 3 or 4 frames.

All this complaining about lag, does NO ONE use muscle memory anymore?? There IS a reason for the training stage believe it or not, forces timing in your muscles, not your eyes you bastards /trollin' :yaaay:

Also Rin, no need for a promotional video at all. Its a regular gathering that will have most everyone we always see, not a major event so making the video wouldn't attract anything new to the scene.

oh btw neat little experiment; get any game with a frame counter in training mode (cvs2, mbaa, any vf), turn on autofire and see how many consistent 1 frame inputs you get.

you'll find that most of them are 1 frame, but there's some 2's, and even some 3's and 4's thrown in to the mix. just goes to show you that even on console, inputs can only be read so well...

But that's just because auto-fire isn't timing it. Even if a game can only read so many inputs in a row well, you can still push one button one time the right way every time, theoretically

imho

And yeah, james. Hit confirms. Especially with a highly mobile character, the pick ups can be hella weird.

And for the sake of THEM INTERNET FOLKS

....

MAKE A PROMO, DAWG :shades:

I'm considering whether to bring my SONY. It seems like we got some good matches out of in last you were over Dacid.

well yeah, that's part of it.

and now we all know where input buffers come from. :)

When did we start calling hitconfirms and proper combos "pickups". When did we start calling a mixup involving a safejump into untechable knockdown "vortex".

aaaaaaaaaa

pickup and vortec are both truck terms.

and in any case, only flaccidblow says pickup.
