TaoFTW Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 Awesome idea is awesome. :V Just throwing it out there, UCB could probably host a couple of the monthlies in our area if Eudemonia falls through. If you can start hosting stuff, then you should start taking charge of the tournaments.
ehuangsan Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 That SJSU room looks amazing. The venue fee is a great idea also. TaoFTW, you should actually finish adding the donate section on the nci website so people can, ya know, donate....

KatanaDash Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 How long can we stay at the sjsu venue? Would it be open from noon to midnight? In my experience that is the amount of time it takes to hold a ranbat.
Chun Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 The room is open so long as someone of authority is there (Whatever morning to whatever night, ideally 12-1 AM). To put it simply, free reign with officer approval in advance, on any given Saturday. However, everything is on my ass to make sure the room will be okay afterward, since previously a Smash tournament was held there a couple of years ago, and things went missing/crappy. I have every confidence that people from MB/GG/BB will be that much better than that. Doesn't hurt that some of the former officers/president are interested in learning GG and BB too. Also, it is possible to get direct connected streaming hooked up; the club has its own access to a network. The arrangement of a date which we can do this can be as soon as the first Saturday in October.
TotheFace Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 damn guys, i just ate a "really big chicken sandwich" from jack in the box. i feel so fuckin' fat. edit: thats alot of aZn's
Arifureta Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I'll start looking into the logistics then.
Dakanya Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 alright now that a venue for the next nci has been secured... we should start talking about the date. socal is currently deciding to have their next burnt toast on oct 16 or 23... let's not conflict with theirs.

I suggest we go back to the way we always hosted our tournaments; do it on the first Saturday of every month.
ViridianSabre Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 SJSU is perfect, I could definitely get at least 3 or 4 people down there once a month. If anybody hosting it wants help organizing anything, PM me and tell me what you need done, and I'll learn to do it. I'd like to be useful for this in some way, I just don't have any experience running this sort of thing.

ViridianSabre Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I just dropped you an AIM hello. Be prepared to teach me how to do stuff. Like form babby. And build combat mecha. Or run brackets.
zero-jt Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Im up for helping organizing this for SLO cal, since Iam probably the the only active player there right now. The problem is that I am only there until December because that is when I am graduating. anyway, Hit me up if you need help or something
Chun Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 If people have any questions about the venue, do let me know and I can answer them. ~Chun
Dakanya Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I suggest we go back to the way we always hosted our tournaments; do it on the first Saturday of every month. so are we down for oct 2 then?
ViridianSabre Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 If people have any questions about the venue, do let me know and I can answer them. ~Chun If you have anything that needs getting done, lemme know. I wanna help get this off the ground if it kills me. Send me a PM in you want me phone number or just AIM me whenever. I'm moving to SC next week, so I should be able to get down to SJSU with relative ease on the 17.
natearistata Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Can you pick up SJSU and move it a bit closer to Sacramento prz?
blk_mage Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Man, everything in the bay area is about an hour drive from Antioch :P
Arvoyea Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Can you pick up SJSU and move it a bit closer to Sacramento prz? ^ This. But yeah, we're Norcal but sessions/tourneys are done in Socal, but I like that because then there are no division really.
Chun Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I will run October 2nd by the President first thing Monday.
TaoFTW Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 so are we down for oct 2 then? Yes. Can you pick up SJSU and move it a bit closer to Sacramento prz? Here's the deal, we don't -always- have to stay at the Bay Area. In all honesty, I want there to be bi-weekly sessions scattered throughout Santa Cruz, Berkeley, San Mateo, midway between Sac and Berkeley. My vision for NCI is to empower you, the local FGer, to build your scene at a place where I can't. I only considered Sacramento a dead scene cause Scott says so, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do something of your own caliber. If you can build up the local community to rival that of socal/norcal, then we'll bring NCI to you. Edit: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9949-The-Future-of-NorCal-INSTALL!-%26%23947;-3-Monthly-Ranbats&p=744295&viewfull=1#post744295 NCI is now on it's way. Scott will take charge and edit the posts, so stay up-to-date by checking that first page. With that said... ...I shall take my leave.
RinHara5aki Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 October 2nd, at SJSU? What time? And most importantly- CAN SOMEONE IN THE ENTIRE SAN JOSE AREA HOUSE ME FOR ONE FRICKIN NIGHT IF I GO?! I hate poverty motel's If I do go then The BB Vlog can hype it up like usual.
Chun Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 We are CONFIRMED for October 2nd. Approximately 10AM to Midnight in Macquarrie Hall, SJSU. On this Map, MQH if you've never been to San Jose State. http://www.sjsu.edu/about_sjsu/visiting/campus_maps/maps-legend/ Further info on venue setups and information on parking etc. to come if no one else finds it. The closest and most convenient parking garage will be the 7th Street Garage, and will cost 8$ all day to park. Or you can find some residential area and hoof it. Part of the pots will go towards the CS Club for hosting. Looking forward to the turnout! Any questions and I can answer them. ~Chun
Dacidbro Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Part of the pots will go towards the CS Club for hosting. Can we be informed how much, and how much entry/venue etc costs?
Chun Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Currently the Venue is free; basically any sort of the pot (whether it be 10% or 25%, depends on how generous the scene is feeling) is appreciated since the burglary bankrupted our funding. I had the interest of putting it up as the usual 5$, then taking 10% of the pot to the club for each respective game. I'm not sure if we want to pursue the lower-fee-per-game model. ~Chun
