Translation Request Thread: For people who need stuff translated post stuff HERE.

I thought it would be worthwhile to put up a thread whose sole purpose is for working with and connecting with people who can read Japanese text or translate scans and other things. You can think of this as a sort of drop-off point for stuff that needs translating, usually resources, news articles, story passages, Mooks for Story Modes (aka Story Guides and text).

Whether it's for GG or BB or something else, I think this would be a good place. And to those of us who CAN translate stuff...I think this place could also serve as a place to meet up, fix translations, compare notes, ask questions to clarify and get "incentives" for translating projects.

What I mean by incentives is this: for those of you who can translate stuff, as we know translating can be a lot of hard work, so I figure anyone who actually does translating of something should be compensated somehow for their work, be it free fanart by request from someone, or some other kind of goodies for people who contribute and have time to contribute, or perhaps some other suggestion people have. I'm open to suggestions on what people would like for incentives of this sort, and would support anything you have in mind. Since I'm limited in my translation ability (from time to time), I can always use my art skills to compensate people for their work here as well.

Even if it's just a little passage that got converted from Japanese to German to English, you get compensated, that's what I'd aim to do here. Again, I'm open to suggestions on what people would like to do here, but at any rate, there will be two types of posts in this thread for the most part:

"Request" posts: Providing the source text in need of translating is MANDATORY, if you can't paste it here or if it's a huge body of text, scan it as an image or try to get a text document and attach it to your post if you can.

"Translation" posts: Translation could be as an attached text, or the post itself, but be sure to cite the original Request post if you can so that people can link back to the source if needed. Also, post something you'd like to get for compensation if you have something in mind, or a suggestion on how to further this thread.

I'll be posting some Requests in another post later on, but I'd like anyone and everyone capable of typing or speaking another language and converting it to English to be aware of this thread. It's a tool to keep people aware of what needs translating around here.

To requesters: please be respectful and courtious when requesting and don't make translators bite off more than they can chew or give them too much to work with. We all have busy lives so giving people time to work on stuff is reasonable enough. If you have a huge chunk of text you want translated, break it into bite-sized chapters people can work on a bit at a time, so they don't feel stressed.

Thanks.

I am sad my song translations fell off the board. I just found the last one I was missing. -.-

Hey, yeah, I noticed that a while ago and was wondering what happened to the thread. :/ Did you have a separate document for the translations, at least?

HI Blade

I think me and my eldest brother can help you a bit with translating some of the BB and GG stuff. I only know a little Japanese But my mom told me that i have a good feeling for Japanese context. I have a few good dictionaries in my house and my eldest brother can translate allot of Japanese texts. I'm not sure if he is willing to do this But if you want some extra help translating stuff than i can ask him.

I hope we can help you out Blade.

sunnyday.

PS: i live in a place in Rotterdam that has a large Japanese community. If my brother cannot help me than i can ask my community instead.

I'm posting this here as a reminder that GG2: Overture Story Data that was scanned still needs to be translated:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RLRWQ30M

Suzaku did Raven and That Man's stories which can be found in my Signature link.

Stories for Sol, Sin, Ky, Dr. Paradigm, Izuna, and Valentine still need to be translated.

Okay guys, got some good news for you, I've been using an OCR Program to produce some raw JP Text of the GG2 Overture Material Collection Stories!

For those of you who wanna take a crack at translating, you can find them all here:

http://www.gearproject.onehitcombo.net/Guilty_Gear/Overture_Material_Story_Scans/

Just keep in mind that because text documents can't exactly display Furigana, I've set text up a certain way.

So for example, if you come across something like this:

GEAR.jpg

In the text document it'll show up like this: [生体兵器](GEAR)

Translated it means "Biological Weapons" but it simply refers to Gears.

There are a lot of text with double meanings in these raws, and while I do want to get to translating them eventually, I'm still working on Night of Knives (I'll be putting the rest of the raws up within the next day or so).

Happy Babelfishing! :)

Come what may, all the raws are up...and I'm exhausted QC-eyeballing Kana, Kanji, and Hiranga. If there's any mistakes it would be in the placement of the Furigana, so you'll have to take apart the sentence and paste it by itself to figure stuff out if need be.

Since That Man's and Raven's were already translated by Suzaku, you can practice with those two raws if you want.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna rest my eyes.

This is for TrungofWu/Emma/Whoever who cares about the Lapis Lazuli Lyrics and lost the thread:

http://gearproject.onehitcombo.net/Guilty_Gear/Other_Data/GG_Junk/Lapis_Lazuli_GUILTY_GEAR_X_Lyrics.txt

It's untranslated, but at least I got the missing Suck A Sage Lyrics.

I think eventually I'll add a song FAQ for other Guilty Gear Lyrics and one for BlazBlue as well (if someone can provide me all the songs that had lyrics).

Pretty sure the 2nd one is Sol's typical intro "Kakugo wa dekiten no ka?" [Are you ready for this?].

I'll have to double check on the first one.
