digimonemporer Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 MOST ANGRIEST SHINOBI: After this tournament we're going to go see SAW 3D. If anyone is interested in going with us, please let me know on tournament day. We'd like to take 2 cars or more to the movie theater. M.A.S is usually a Smash tournament series that I run. But BlazBlue: CS is being added to the line up. And because it's being played, I figured I'd post it on here and "try" to generate more interest. Last BlazBlue tournament I ran had 10 players. WHEN - October 30th 2010 WHERE - Paul's Video Arcade: 5564 Durand Avenue Racine, WI (located at the Northeast Entrance of Regency Mall, between Boston Store and Sears) VENUE FEE - $7 This venue fee can be waived in a number of ways, this goes as follows: - If you bring a FULL SETUP (consist of T.V, system/console/games with characters unlocked) and WE USE IT FOR TOURNAMENT PLAY...you pay $0 venue fee. - At this venue we SERIOUSLY need chairs (this is an arcade afterall). If you bring chairs that we can use for the tournament and/or casuals...you pay $0 venue fee. - There is also a need for power strips. If you bring a power strip that we can use for the tournament and/or casuals...you pay $4 venue fee. PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR TOURNAMENT AND SAVE SOME MONEY! TOURNAMENT GAMES AND ENTRY FEES AND TOURNAMENT START TIME - - Brawl Minus $5 @ 11AM - Brawl Doubles $5 per team mate @ 11AM - Brawl Singles $10 @ 3PM - Soul Calibur 4 $5 @ NOON - BlazBlue: Continuum Shift $5 @ 2PM RULES FOR TOURNAMENT GAMES AND CONSOLE USED - * BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (PS3) - double elimination tournament - default time - all rounds are set to 2/3 - 2/3 games for winners and losers brackets - 3/5 games for winners, losers, and grand finals (no exceptions) - winner keeps same character, loser may change character - unlimited/easy mode forms of characters are banned - Button binding is allowed - BINDING A SPECIAL MOVE OR DISTORTION TO A BUTTON IS BANNED - All game breaking glitches are banned (Rest of this u can just skip if you don't care about the other games being played) * Brawl Singles (Wii) Format and Settings: Double Elimination 3 Stocks, 8 minutes time Damage Ratio 1.0 Handicap Off Best 2/3 Games All Finals (winners, losers, grand finals) Best 3/5 Games (no exceptions) Items set to "Off" and "None" Starter Stage List: NOTE: IT IS UP TO YOU GUYS TO REMEMBER THE STAGE LIST. IT WILL MAKES THINGS RUN A LOT MORE SMOOTHER. I WILL HAVE A COPY OF THE STAGE LIST AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. Neutral: Final Destination Battlefield Yoshi's Island (Brawl) Smashville Lylat Counter Stage List: Delfino Plaza Battleship Halberd Castle Siege Brinstar Pokemon Stadium 1 (Melee Version) Frigate Orpheon Rainbow Cruise ANY STAGE THAT IS NOT MENTIONED ABOVE IS BANNED!!! Set format: 1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match PLEASE NOTE: * Double blind character selection may be called for the first match if needed. A T.O will come and keep track of what characters are used by players. 2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure. (Who starts will be decided by playing SHANKING FIST aka RPS). Then each player will alternate striking a stage until there is 1 left. That stage is played first round. THERE IS NO RANDOM UNLESS AGREED UPON. 3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counter pick of the set. 4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2. 5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List. 6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character. 7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character. 8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches. Additional Rules: - Stalling is Banned! - If you use any controller styles that use the wiimote you will be responsible for removing the batteries inbetween your matches. Failure to do so can result in a DQ. - In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by playing "SHAKING FIST" (Rock/Paper/Scissors). - No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players. - If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage. - Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned (because it falls into the "Stalling violation"). - If a game ends with Bowser's Suicide Claw or Ganon's Arial Choke Slam the player who performed the move wins!!! - You are responsible for your own controller. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties. - Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects. - Stalling/Chain Grabbing (applies to both Melee and Brawl): The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 100% past when the chain grab started (for example: if the CG started at 43%, you must end the CG...in some fashion... @ 143%). Also, deliberately avoiding any and all combat is stalling, where as jumping on and off the ledge doing an aerial at your opponent is simply spacing. So with this said... - Marth's hold release infinite vs. Lucus/Ness is banned. - You are ONLY allowed 50 planks (catch edge. release edge. repeat) a game (plank count should be viewed at the end of your match in results). Also... If we are using your modified version of v.Brawl: please make sure your stages, character costumes, and other visual effects don't make it difficult for everyone to play on your set up. Stage boundries and edges should be the exact same as if you were playing on a non-modified setup. If there is a drastic complaint...THAT CAN BE PROVEN VALID...your setup will be removed and you will be disqualified for the remainder of the tournament with NO REFUND. * Brawl Doubles (Wii): -Friendly Fire will be on in teams and general rules apply * Brawl Minus (Wii) - General Rules apply * Soul Calibur 4 (PS3) - Double Elimination tournament - 3/5 rounds - default time - 100% handicap and soul gauge - 2/3 matches winners/losers - bracket - 3/5 matches winners/losers/grand - finals (no exceptions) - Custom/Created Characters, Hilde, and Algol are BANNED - Button mapping allowed - All game breaking glitches and glitches that cause throw infinites are banned - First stage is always random (every stage will be allowed) - Winner keeps character, loser may change character or stage BUT NEVER BOTH Hope to see you soon. ^_^ If there's time I'll be glad to play casuals in KOF or whatever.
Kristoph Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 would only be able to go to this if I could get a ride there and back to whitewater @_@
Heroic_Legacy Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 You banned Hilde. I'm not showing up.
dooku Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I wanna go, but yeah, I need to find a way to get there from Madison...
digimonemporer Posted September 26, 2010 Author Posted September 26, 2010 do any of you guys play smash? there's folks from madison and whitewater who frequent my monthlies and i'm sure you'll be able to ride with them. www.smashboards.com to aquire more info. look for wi thead in "poop chat" under the regional section.
dooku Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I played melee back in its prime some, but didn't go to many tourneys. Sometime this week I'll look into contacting someone from there to see if anyone from madison would mind giving me a ride over there. Thanks for the heads up, hope I'll be able to make it. I'm assuming the PS3 setup will have the Valk DLC?
Kristoph Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 yo heroic fate may have smiled upon you?? http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=11304367&postcount=28 shrug edit: i swear i must have been like high or something when i posted this, I don't even know man
dooku Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Doesn't look like I'll be able to make it to this. Tried finding a ride from someone on smashboards, but was generally ignored. Don't blame them, I don't know any of them and I don't play smash, so it was the outcome I expected. Also not worth riding a poverty bus out there, it's like a 3 hour bus ride. Kinda sucks =/ Should be gatherings in Madison imo... or at least a freaking Amtrak rail that services this damn city. It's the state capital and the only way out other than personal transportation is poverty bus or a plane, which you can't actually take direct flights to anywhere worthwhile. GG Wisconsin, gg.
Kristoph Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Yeah probably won't be able to make it to this either, which makes me pretty sad because I'm getting less and less "fond" of online play as time goes on =( I need offline cooooooomp plus I like smash so I wouldn't have minded playing that either >_>
digimonemporer Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 =( Madison has/had a great Soul Calibur scene. We're having a SC4 tournament this weekend too. ...maybe??? 8wayrun.com
dooku Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Man, I suck at 3D fighters =/ Or more like I just don't play them very often, because none of my friends liked them, and I like 2D better. Well other than Fate/Unlimited Codes probably... I mean I never fought anyone who knew what they were doing, and it was basically HnK with sidestepping. Oh well, maybe I'll have more luck making it out there next time. The whole having no offline competition thing is starting to really suck, so I might be crazy enough to actually take a bus out there if I can't find someone to bum a ride off of. Except that it'll probably be cold next time. And I don't know how well the heating works on a greyhound. Guess there's only one way to find out.
Heroic_Legacy Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Wisconsin BB = Free-r than free with a cherry on top.
Kristoph Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 yeah it's pretty depressing, even if I had a vehicle there were apparently 5 people in the BB tournament >_> on the "bright side" I don't feel too bad about playing this game a lot less lately. Indoctrinate some of them Smash players digimon =( and Heroic, who besides you is any good in Illinois anyway? >_>
