Kivorav Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 You know about those times where you have a combo going, but a bad timing and the color the number of combos changes into the dark red? I was wondering if it is still worth finishing the combo anyways. I've been making my own kind of combos but ocassionally it turns dark red despite I continue it and manage to finish my combos frequently.
notsogos Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 When the combo counter turns dark red/"black beat" combos, it means your opponent could have teched out of the combo and normally you would not have finished it as they would have escaped. BUT If for some reason they don't tech then yes keep going BUT Don't sit around "making your own combos", "black beat"/invalid/forestblazer combos do not work in real play. Go to your characters section on the forums and read the combo thread, use those combos exclusively as the game has been out long enough that the most optimal combos have already been found.
notsogos Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 If you're in training mode, find the recovery option for the dummy, set the slider bar to 0 and the tech direction to forward or back (neutral tech is like 1 frame slower), then try to make your own combos. They won't work. Expect anyone you play in real life to tech like this, always
Kivorav Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 Okay, I understand now. Thanks for the advice.
bucklemyshoe Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 However, after turning on recover I would still suggest going through your "own" combos anyway. You'll see how someone would tech and you'll also learn how to follow that recovery up with some sort of reset. Basicly, each character has certain moves that give knockdown and allow you to have just enough time to set up okizeme. (what you do to force the opponent to block on wake up) If a move doesn't give a knockdown then learn it's tech properties and the best way to react to them. Either tech throw or reset. Here is an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E0mzteN5fs TKing the 5K HCL instead of jump installing makes it not combo and provide a tech trap in hopes to earn a reset. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRoFPBg3SdM check around 36 seconds, it demonstrates a tech trap leading to both a throw or a reset.
