DaiAndOh Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) DATE IS 11/20 I AM GETTING IT CHANGED Location: Game PAD, Inc. 6727 Bay Parkway Brooklyn, NY 11204 Phone: 718-837-6604 So yeah, sick of being a side event? An afterthought? Subject to dumbass seeding playing the guy who lives 2 blocks away first round? Fuck that shit, me and Biscuits are taking over. This tournament WILL NOT be run using Tonamento. Because we are using competent software that doesn’t depend on an internet connection, in the unlikely event a mistake is made, we can fix it. You will also NOT play your friend in the first round, because if our random seeding does this, we can fix it. However as larger tournaments happen, this is becoming beyond our greater control, but we are striving to do our best. This tournament is NOT a side event to SSFIV. This community (ANIME) is the top priority, and the only community that is attending. Thus, this tournament will be run as efficiently as our resources allow. And for the love of god, and me, report your matches AS SOON AS THEY ARE FINISHED. Games: MBAA 2v2 starts at 2:00 ($5 per person, $10 total) (PS2) BBCS 2v2 starts at 3:00 ($5 per person, $10 total) (PS3) GGXXAC 2v2 starts at 5:00 ($5 per person, $10 total) (PS2) The reason for the times: GG is generally considered the main event. MB is on the same console, thus it gets the early start so it can be done by GG hopefully. In addition Venue fee $7 – goes to Gamepad to hosting, and to compensate Sp00ky's ride, labor and equipment expenses. TO’s are volunteering. Pre-tournament and on TVs that aren't being used for the tournament casuals are cool. Just pay venue fee to do so. Venue opens at 12. Supplying extra copies of the games is cheap and effortless, and helps these tournaments so much, Game Pad has the consoles and TVs we need, though more are appreciated, especially if you play DLC characters. On the other hand, we do NEED a modded PS2 for MBAA. Preferably THREE to run tournament efficiently. This is because I can't carry mine between my laptop that runs the tournament, and my stick that gets more action than your mom. Three MB PS2's is idea to get things efficiently done so the next game doesn't need to be on hold for the stream holding things up. Gamepad has house sticks, don't worry 360 players. The planned layout of the tournament Before the GG tourny, an alternative PS2 should have GG in order to allow players to warm up. After GG starts, you guys can play whatever. Rules: MBAA 2v2 2 out of 3 rounds. The teams format is the same that SBO is using. “2v2 is done “waseda style”, meaning that each team’s person A plays, then regardless of the winner, each team’s person B plays. After that, both players on the same team won, that team advances, and the other team loses. If one player won on one team, and another won on the other team, then the two players who won fight each other, and the winner of that advances” - Heartnana Double Elimination. Characters used must be registered beforehand – no changing characters mid tournament. The same character cannot be used by both teammates. BBCS 2v2 2 out of 3 rounds. Fate happened last time. Other great candidates include Jojo's, Vampire, and SamshoVspec. Just make sure I have things up and stable before you do so. Streaming is again to be brought to you buy the legendary Team Sp00ky! The exposure and quality of his streams is enormously appreciated as is his dedication and hard work. Thus we added $2 the venue fee to show our appreciation and keep the stream as great as it can be. We had a mind boggling turnout! Let's keep it up and show the world we're alive! Will update with any new potential info as it comes. Meanwhile... ...Get fucking hype, and show everyone that people actually do play these games. Because if you don't, you may get replaced in 2011. See you there. Edited November 3, 2010 by DaiAndOh
ril213 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 ack won't be able to do this one due to funds. see most of you at NEC.
St1ckBuG Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 A few people were wondering why there's no singles? Since this is bi-weekly, why not rotate which game is teams each time?
Squared Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 A few people were wondering why there's no singles? Since this is bi-weekly, why not rotate which game is teams each time? That sounds like a good idea...wait does that mean $10 entry fee cause ya'know if the same amount of people would enter in singles and in teams we can just keep the entry fee at $5, sound reasonable?(Its also nice to know that no one can get carried)
Mahouko Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 just a question, which takes longer? singles or teams?
Squared Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I would guess singles since theres only 2 setups and more match-ups to be made.
St1ckBuG Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Sometimes a teams match takes twice as long as a singles match would. They probably even out in the end.
mikenapalm Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 11/20? good shit. i should be there then. ill bring my ps2 and melty blood again as well.
4r5 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I remember 10$ GG tournaments. Back then, Steve H always had gas money. What happen to that? Is SF4 the only game allowed to have 10$ entry fees? Singles would definitely take longer. A single set in 2v2 waseda-style teams is essentially = a single set in the traditional american 1v1 format. Except since it's 1v1 instead of 2v2, the amount of "teams" have doubled. Not to mention finals switch over to sets of 3 out of 5 matches. But shrug, it looks like you guys run a pretty tight operation. Plus, you guys don't run multiple tournaments at once(?), so you don't get situations where a super-star player(s!?) entered 5 games and holds up all the tournaments 'cause he's not bad.
Mindgam3 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) New England is in need some warm-up games before NEC, so we look forward to playing all of you again! We might even have more people coming this time around. Also, provided we have the physical space, I would support the addition of GGAC and MBAA singles with two full setups (20" CRT + PS2 + Game) to help us run everything a bit more efficiently. Or perhaps I should just bring two BB setups so we can have a chance of it finishing on time Edited November 3, 2010 by Mindgam3
DaiAndOh Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Sometimes a teams match takes twice as long as a singles match would. They probably even out in the end. Teams generally take shorter. Because the amount of rounds played is the same (the only difference is going back to the char select screen in the case of GG/MB), but 4 people get taken up in one setup rather than 2. Running 3 games now, maybe 4 in the future...yeah. I remember 10$ GG tournaments. Back then, Steve H always had gas money. What happen to that? Is SF4 the only game allowed to have 10$ entry fees? Singles would definitely take longer. A single set in 2v2 waseda-style teams is essentially = a single set in the traditional american 1v1 format. People complain about moneys/whine how they're free/won't win and claim poverty. So I have to try to make things cheap. But we do have multiple tournies going on, but at different points. Managing players isn't that big a deal though, it only held things up longer than a minute once, and that was due to a mm people were having in the corner.
St1ckBuG Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 My only gripe this time around is to maybe let another game go first so there's more stream exposure. I suggest BB this time around. Share the love. Please the monsters.
Ivolt Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I'll bring my PS3 around again. And shit, I guess I'll play Melty again. Nothing like 3 weeks of anticipation followed by 4 minutes of getting your ass kicked to keep you on your toes.

Share the love. Please the monsters. Monsters hate BB lol. But I figure that Melty going in with another setup could fix that. Since all games at least had their top 8 streamed.
Sp00ky Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 BB was terrible on the stream. Just saying. That game should not go first ever the feedback was ass and pretty much everyone wanted it to end and move on to GG. Video Playlists: Check em out. GGAC: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7509669BCECAAA40 MBAA: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=90E2C60283EAF96B BBCS: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=DE3D3754AE50E19B FUC: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2886506ED410FC2D Some videos still processing (MB Grand finals)
Master Chibi Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Put GG first, or MB, or FC, but not BB. Shit, put BB out of its misery.
Lord Knight Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 bb is fun spooky i dont bait bursts zidane is fun to play - why do people think im salty? ;_; gamepad is a particularly challenging tourney, im coming again next time
Squared Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Ya I would like to have gg earlier, I would guess the second event would be best because more people will be there and because it would be started earlier, it would end earlier. Being the last gg event had the least entrants out of all the events which was a little disapointing(even though there was only 2 more entrants in each other event, that is still four more people that didn't enter gg).
OmniSScythe Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Wasn't there going to be 17 teams for MB/BB/GG? I'm guessing some people left early.
skd Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 hmmm, i dont think i can make this one, but ill be at the next one! and i think ill be entering GG too :x
DaiAndOh Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 hmmm, i dont think i can make this one, but ill be at the next one! and i think ill be entering GG too :x But who will take 3rd in BB this time? I can't run GG and MB at the some time. Cause they're on the same console. And ummm wait for super loli fighter 3 to come out then I can think about replacing BB. It does get numbers. Just not hype. Want to help? Don't think about potential money and boycott BB. Make my life easier.
Danny Schme Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 And ummm wait for super loli fighter 3 to come out then I can think about replacing BB. Might as well start a countdown because AH3 could very well be the nail in the coffin for BB.
