I haven't played it recently (over break I'm going to start a new file) but I noticed the wiki forum is still very active (if not more than it was before) and Joe said he quickly had several of his messages recommended by other players, which can only happen if another player goes to the exact spot the message was left.

Leveling up isn't too bad either. Of course it gets harder over time but there's plenty of places to grind. If you are interested in a PvP build, then I can tell you your options at ranbats, since it would take a while to explain everything.
