Vulcan422 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 TGS Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpfHummn1qk So how bout 'dat Sophitia?
proxy psi Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 What the hell is 'Iron Paddle' 2H-Sword doing in the intro? That Sophitia is... ... "I'm sorry, it's delicious."
TheRealBobMan Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Wait wait wait... I heard this was a single player action game, and envisioned a SC themed beat-em-up that wished it was as cool as God Hand. It looks like it's just SC 5 but without multiplayer, and with microtransactions. ...? Is there something I'm missing? I remember them saying in an interview that they wanted to appeal to the people that liked the story but didn't like the competition. But then... this just makes me think of OP single player fighting game bosses.
Vulcan422 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 If they reveal it has story content, then I will be interested in it. If it doesn't, I'll just wait for SC2 HD Remix.

Xechs Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 So, game gets a NA release after all: April 22. I downloaded the japanese version not too long ago, but have to delete it because lots of japanese text lol
Daverost Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 What a piece of garbage Lost Swords turned out to be. I was hoping maybe we could get Talim and Kilik back through it, but now I don't even want them associated with this.
SolxBaiken Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Lost Swords turned out so much worse than I expected . . . I was joking at first but Bamco really did want to make it worse then Revolution in every way. The sad part is the game is so uninteresting to play, which is not something you ever want associated with your game. It's not even a fighter! Thanks to all the stats and elemental stuff it really just boils down to mashing enemy weakness button until win. And then if you don't have the right elements fights get drawn out with the enemy's little buffer state and the fact that it is so cumbersome to change out stuff due to the ridiculous load times is just . . . UGH!! Like you recover play points every 3mins but you'll spend 2 just loading alone. And why reuse all of the assets from V if you are going to remove things like Ring Outs [i mean I know it is to make it casual friendly, but it is mad annoying as I could save so much time . . .] and the survival format of the fights are broken, you recover almost no health by default as they want to do everything to inconvenience you, good thing the AI is mostly dumb and only mashy at times. Ugh, I have so many more problems but yeah . . . [/vent]
Vulcan422 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 This game is such an embarrassment to the Soul Calibur name. Just hurry up with SC6, Bamco. You fucked up. HARD.

TAI-X Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 If you're not going to treat it as a demo, what's the point of making a F2P version of SCV when the full game goes for less than $20 new? I didn't hate SCV. It's incredibly polished and playable (in every sense other than game balance), and still generally fun. Some of the new characters were cool and interesting to use, particularly ZWEI. But they took too many steps backwards, in an ill-advised attempt to court the new blood that SFIV pulled into the genre. If they're really going to do SCVI for next-gen, they should return to SCII's movesets and use those as a base again. Also, no more silly guest characters, please. Ezio was the only acceptable one, because he actually fits SC's setting and standards of character design.
Daverost Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Speaking of SCV being less than $20 new, I picked it up for $5 on PSN yesterday. Any advice on who I should play? I normally always played Talim or Kilik and uhh... Yeah. Sounds like Xiba is the Kilik replacement, but what about Talim? Anything close?
Vulcan422 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Nope. No Talim substitutes here. I'll tell you right off the bat though that if you play Natsu, Viola, Pyrrha, Siegfried, Nightmare, Mitsurugi, Maxi, or Astaroth, people (read: scrubs) WILL hate you. Xiba is also pretty disliked as well.

I normally always played Talim or Kilik and uhh... Yeah. Sounds like Xiba is the Kilik replacement, but what about Talim? Anything close? You probably already know this, but Kilik is an unlockable character in SCV, and his redesign and stage are pretty cool. He's nothing more than a gigantic tease, though, since they trolled everyone by turning him into one of the game's THREE Mokujin characters. At least you can give him Xiba's moveset and pretend you're actually playing as Kilik. Also, about Lost Swords, if you're going to release a F2P fighter that has a full-priced packaged equivalent, the only proper way to do it is to integrate the two. DOA5U Core Fighters should have set the standard for the format.
Daverost Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I played through some Lost Swords yesterday. Got all the way to the next-to-last set of fights in the story and then failed miserably about eight or so times. Once you get to the end, it really hurts you to not have amazing gear. And said gear isn't common. At all. Unless, of course, you pay for it. I'm not that worried about beating the story. The problem I'm seeing is getting a full set of accessories from the Master quests afterward, which are apparently even harder. Starting to think it's not even worth getting the trophies. I should probably just quit while I'm "ahead" on Lost Swords. Haven't even unlocked Taki or Ivy. Not sure I care anymore.
swordsman09 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 So I started Lost Swords recently. Unlocking the other characters is really pissing me off. I probably won't play it again until either Hwang or Yun Seong comes back.
Vulcan422 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 I've been wondering myself why that game is still on my hard drive. I need to delete it. It's nothing but a mess of loading times.
Daverost Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 A sad desperation for characters not in SC5 is all that's keeping me from deleting it. I've gotten 100% and told myself I'll never play it again, but there it is. Just sitting there. Eating HDD space. And I know that as soon as someone shows up that I want to unlock and play as, I'll touch them for 5-10 minutes, remember why the game was garbage, and then swear off it again.
swordsman09 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 And I know that as soon as someone shows up that I want to unlock and play as, I'll touch them for 5-10 minutes, remember why the game was garbage, and then swear off it again. This.
Vulcan422 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Bought the PS3 version of SC5 over the weekend. The lag is a lot more noticeable and unstable than XBL. Matches drop a LOT more frequently. Of the few opponents I played, only a handful of them actually completed.
