Achtzehn Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 gonna have to wait another day. Calling off Friday plans since rents are taking the car to service and I'm getting a haircut. So much for that then. I guess until winter brawl it is then.
10stars Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) mvc3 is godlike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwrNrfVC8C4 My first impressions were depth issues, they're starting to fade. Yipes said that he'd like to see the damage set to "Low" during tournaments. Might become the tournament standard. Edited February 17, 2011 by 10stars
St1ckBuG Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I'd like to have items turned off as well. Shit's cheap.
10stars Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibhzRHsxx_0 oh resets. oh its marvel.
bbq sauce Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) I'd like to have items turned off as well. Shit's cheap. Goddamnit, Alan. Oh, does this game have air unblockable moves?? Everytime I decided to stop running away, and try to force pressure with IM, they just jump out.. Usually I jump into them and make them block to force them back down, but, I want a way to punish it besides air throw, if such exists. D: Edited February 17, 2011 by bbq sauce
St1ckBuG Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Rob, what are good assist choices for Magz/X-23/Wesker? And are there similarities between all alpha/beta/gamma assist types? Like one is AA, one is projectile, one is a launcher/starter? I've only mashed a little bit of mission mode, but I haven't tried to make a solid team yet. Edit: Rob, wanna Mahvel Monday night? I was gonna head over Andy's.
A3Religion Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I think Yipes is right, they should set the damage to low because some of this shit is really stupid. There is no reason for Oki if you can kill everyone in one combo.
DoomieJ Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 You guys really gonna play mvc3? I was gonna not get it but doom and skrull are some of my favorite characters ever, and I hear they have testament bitch too. I'm moderatly hyped. Might buy it when I get home today.
Alzarath Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Alan: Magneto - Disruptor (fast, beats other projectiles) X-23 - Ankle Slice (hits low, otgs) Wesker - Samurai Edge (also hits low, otgs) Assist types vary by character. Not everyone has AA or launch etc. Edit: or were you asking for assists that benefit them, rather than each char's best assist? For Mag, I imagine anything that hits hi/low (burning kick/demon flip/aforementioned lows) would suit him. Don't know about X-23... someone w/ a projectile? Wesker benefits from assists that enhance his teleport game (Sentinel drones works wonders, for example). Edited February 17, 2011 by Alzarath

Grind out shit in training mode, enter it at tourney: no Play with you guys when we get together/netplay: yes
St1ckBuG Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Stuff. Well, I never played Marvel before, so I don't know how to build a well structured team (and I don't think a lot of people do, since MvC2 teams were set in stone for a while). I think you need a well rounded team so that you can deal with lots of lame situations (such as constant zoning/runaway/turtling). Chip damage in this game is stupid so you have to advanced guard everything, and I hate getting zoned. I really like X-23, Magz, Wesker, Ironman, and Zero. I was thinking something like X-23/Wesker/Sent, or using Wesker as my front-man instead, but I'm not sure. I'll play with Rob/Andy on Monday and then I'll get to play some more Friday and Saturday @ WB. Play with you guys when we get together/netplay This. Everyone: my SBO DVD should be getting here in the next couple days, so I'm probably going to stream it sometime next week.

I don't care how you have to let me know when you stream it, but let me know. I want to see that shit so bad god damn. EDIT: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I just realized that I always had a problem watching streams and them fucking up. I will have to solve this problem before the weekend is over.
St1ckBuG Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I'm gonna post up a stream date as soon as I get it. I'll probably stream it 2-3 days after I get it to give peope time to check the front page for the stream listings.
iora Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 im having fun with the game, but it wont evolve beyond a casual thing (but what ever has hi-oh!) zero's assists annoy me, i dislike all of them ><

Usually what I like in team building goes along the lines of Battery/ bullshit /assist. First character does as much damage as possible and builds bar. Can work well with other characters but mainly there so my damage character doesn't die before getting meter to do anything. Right now I'm liking Dante and Doom for my team. Rocks to teleport, rocks to missiles, rocks to missile grab thing, rocks to acid rain. It feels very versatile. Im thinking about adding Trish but she feels awkward so far. Not a whole lot of options with her. But her zoning is nice. Her round trips are lols and round trip super with 3 bars is even more for safe DHC to Dante. Or hit confirm to damage DHC. That's what I look for in team dynamics. Basically I would find a character you like to use, another character you can use to help the first, and the third as an assist. Or be Awesome and just pick two random and the character you know best. Let the first two die and XFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFactor
Alzarath Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Trish felt natural to me from day one. I can't ever see myself NOT playing her. She's too versatile. Doomie, you'd probably enjoy playing her. Strong zone game, good rushdown/mixup. Just know she can't take hits well.
mikenapalm Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Her zoning is very fluid between traps, bolts, and round trips. I'm just at a loss for combos off of them. And that feels awkward to me. But now that I have my copy, I'll actually be able to play around with it.
St1ckBuG Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 SBO DVD got here today... I'll stream it Sunday night I think.
Alzarath Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Hopscotch is not really something you can combo off in my xp. It's just there for aa and to stop advances. Works well against tri-jumps b/c of the angle of approach. Peekaboo, just do ground chain into air combo. Nothing special. Round trip is mainly for chip/stall/lockdown.
bbq sauce Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 1:15 is in my youtube favorites. I nearly shit a brick when I first saw that.
bbq sauce Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Actually I've seen a good deal of these clips due to having no life.. but some of it.. omfg.. I should've done a reaction video while I watched that.
mikenapalm Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 That first BGM was amazing. Also lol slayer at SBing a burst. Yo marvel Monday at Andys right? What time? I don't think I've got anything to do that night.
