Schtauffen Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Hey so, i just recieved my copy of Guilty Gear X2 for the PS2. I'm wondering, who is a good character to start with? The first one i tried was Bridget but when i got to Robo-Ky I started having trouble with him. We both fight well and i get him down to about one or two hits to go then he kills me......over and over and over.......and over..........and over. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
rtl42 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 when you say X2... do you really mean X2? or XX AC? if you're into charge-type characters, may and potemkin are alright IIRC. if you aren't, then sol, ky, and chipp are good to start with, i guess. is this your first fighting game, btw? baiken isn't good to start with because her main gimmick is attacking out of block (guard cancels). bridget's yo-yo requires specific knowledge of some of the game mechanics to be able to handle him well. Dizzy isn't "bad", per se, but her main approach is to use her summons to control the screen, and since you have to be able to judge when it's safe to throw them out, and when you should be running away, it might not be best for an absolute beginner. [edit: then again Dizzy was pretty good anyway, so you might be able to get away with not using her summons optimally.] actually now that i think about it, May's combos were harder before AC, although i forget what exactly made them harder. but it was something to do with the timing of the charge input for her dolphin specials, and then being able to combo to other hits. (they somehow made it easier in either Slash or AC.) so she might be frustrating to combo with, if you're a beginner. well anyways, like i said before, it depends on why you're playing. if you already have experience with other FGs, that also affects how quickly you take to GG (and therefore which characters are easier to understand, for you).
alvare Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Try Ky or Slayer or Sol, that's it. Slayer's Pilebunker is as good as all Bridget's attacks put together (except for the Fire Ring one).
Pestilence Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Play I-No. If you play her enough you can unlock that really cool move that fills the screen up and slaughter your enemies easily.
Schtauffen Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Yes when i say X2 i mean X2, the one for the PS2, the ones ive liked so far are Dizzy, Bridget and Ky Kiske. No this isnt my first fighting game, i have about 15 fighting games in my collection. If it helps on Soul Calibur i use Siegfried, on Tekken i'm a Lily user, on Blazblue i used Noel Vermillion, in Street Fighter i use Makoto, Virtua Fighter is Pai. Hope that helps some with helping me.
McArthur Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 ggx2 like this one? you sure its not this one instead?
excelence Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Play Dizzy... on X2 ice spike hurt a lot!~~~<3 ... and iirc the frc point of that moves is rather easy there >_>
Schtauffen Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 ggx2 like this one? you sure its not this one instead? Yes im sure its the first one X2, and i think Millia Rage is the one for me....just beat her story mode but Slayer was one tough cookie to beat....probably the hardest boss i ever fought took me an entire three tries. First one I got slaughtered, hit retry and got a "time up" thing then third time i figured out that he regenerated and opened up a can of whoopass on him.
Schtauffen Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 You can ignore this thread now......ive pretty much got the game figured out, learend the insta kills for most characters not including May but hers is a bit more intricate than others. My next thing to master is Baikens guard cancels ive done a few of them but havent perfected it yet. Games very fun probably my second favorite console game of all time.
