hushbird123 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Hey just wondering if anyone can recommend a good sturdy stick for around $50? Thanks! P.S. anyone know where I can trade in my BB:CT + Cash for BB:CS
mr.mortified Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 trade in at gamestop, look online at amazon for sticks less than 50 bucks. If you really want a good stick, be prepared to spend around 150 - 300+ for a stick. 50 dollar sticks or less that are decent but wont feel great Hori ex2 (xbox 360) http://www.amazon.com/Xbox360-Fighting-Stick-EX-Xbox-360/dp/B000V02P6Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1295443807&sr=1-1 Fighting stick 3 (ps3) http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Fighting-Stick-3-Playstation/dp/B000MWE3BI/ref=pd_sim_vg_3 wii fighting stick http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Fighting-Stick-Nintendo/dp/B000SKLUXS/ref=pd_sim_vg_6
DoomieJ Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Gamespot. Get a TE. Its worth the 100 its worth. all other sticks are complete shit, honestly.
hushbird123 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 thanks for the responses! This is for a ps3, so anyone know where I can get a deal on the above mentioned suggestions? The hori is on sale for 40% off, although it may not stand up to the TE quality, is the price at $30 right? Thanks!
DoomieJ Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 if you want to play on a childs arcade stick, go for it pal. either HRAP3 or TE. try amazon.
TheBaron Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Avoid all of the one's less than a hundred. Not only are the parts not that good, but you'll spend forever messing with the damn thing if you ever want to upgrade to decent parts. It's cheaper in the long run to go for a TE on sale, than to buy a bad stick, realize your buttons or stick are shit, and have to upgrade it. If you really insist though, A madcatz SE has quick disconnects, and you can upgrade it to full sanwa without pulling your hair out. (If you're a fucking masochist, though, the datel ps3 360 stick has a pcb that is loved by some for being easy to solder and doing both ps3 and 360 out of the box)

bbq sauce Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 If you really insist though, A madcatz SE has quick disconnects, and you can upgrade it to full sanwa without pulling your hair out. Problem is once you've paid for the SE + all the sanwa parts, you've spent equal to, or more than a TE.

I'll probably end up getting it and then not going out to eat for a couple of weeks . . . .
hushbird123 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 http://www.amazon.com/BlazBlue-Continuum-Fightstick-Tournament-Playstation-3/dp/B003O1T008/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295475282&sr=8-1 Just do eet. wow thanks a lot for all your patience you guys! i'll probably go with this, but my pocket will be crying. . .it's on sale too!! man looks like i won't be taking my gf to that sushi buffet . . .
EmbersRed Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Problem is once you've paid for the SE + all the sanwa parts, you've spent equal to, or more than a TE. But the skills and knowledge of modding a stick (eventhough it is easy) will come in handy down the road should you ever have stick problems ever again. The knowledge is worth the extra $$. Also the SE has a nice little angle where your hands sit. Some people find it more comfortable then the flat TE.
RaveSage Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 While the knowledge IS nice to have, it's defiantly not worth the money. A more worthwhile venture would be something like dual modding or a project box stick imo. Unless you already have power tools and soldering equipment, the costs start to pile on fast. I'm speaking from experience. -_-

I'll teach you a complete course on joystick design and repair for the low-low price of $1600.

How much is learning how to pop out some buttons and using a screw driver? Not much at all, I hate it when people think because they swapped out parts in an SE that they're all of a sudden an expert in stick modding on SRK Tech Talk. As everyone says get a TE or even an HRAP if you can find it cheaper.

LOL DSP you've gotta make your own sticks from scratch and/or have soldering skills and have padhacked before you can call yourself a modder <---- :3
hushbird123 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 thanks for all your help and patience! i was actually interested in making my own, but it seems like it would cost more time and patience than i have right now so i'll probably end up going with this http://www.amazon.com/BlazBlue-Continuum-Fightstick-Tournament-Playstation-3/dp/B003O1T008/ref=lh_ni_t_ my poor wallet
TheBaron Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) While the knowledge IS nice to have, it's defiantly not worth the money. I couldn't agree more. Unless your arcade stick needs are very specific (and obscure) the knowledge isn't worth the money it takes for the extra parts, the tools, and the time. If you want something more obscure than playing on ps3 and 360 with the same stick (a hitbox, a left handed stick, ps2 capability) then the extra knowledge might be useful, but yeah, the only reason you'd order an se and upgrade it to sanwa is because it allows you make the decision to invest in playing fighting games in two steps, not just one. Also, Right now madcatz has a sale on TE's. Check it out. http://shoryuken.com/f177/1-12-1-21-mad-catz-wc-warzone-sale-20-30%25-off-fightsticks-$110-shipped-mvc-te-262258/ Edited January 20, 2011 by TheBaron
