Day2Day Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 So I got a copy of Guilty Gear XX: AC for my birthday yesterday and I kind of randomly picked up May and having never played a Guilty Gear game, I have no idea what I'm doing. I play Blazblue consistently, and I've been told that there are some similarities between the two games. Are those similarities helpful at all in the transition, or should I try hard not to compare the two games with one another. Also, is there a character that controls like Rachel in any way, shape, or form? TL;DR: Can I play GG like I play BB, and is there a Rachel Clone in GGX2:AC?
Blade Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) Not gonna lie, I didn't make a full transition from GG to BB, I basically set the controls like this: P = A (Square) K = B (Ex) S = C (Triangle) H = D (Circle) D = Throw (R1) Roman Cancel = Rapid Cancel (R2) Taunt = Taunt (L2) Other = Burst (L1) That said, my GG inputs aren't too different from my BB ones in the long run, but everyone has their custom setups (especially Stick players who play Carl/Eddie/Arakune/Zappa). That's key to getting comfortable with learning a character. Also, for Rachel clone, closest I can think of is Dizzy, Faust, or May, but you might like Testament too. Edited January 24, 2011 by Blade
qwerty Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 throw almost everything you learned about fighting games from bb away. it's not what anyone wants to hear, but gg is incredibly different from bb; most of the similarities are aesthetic. start small: learn bnb's, figure out how your pokes hit, block low on wakeup. watch matchvids, but don't be intimidated if you don't understand anything just yet. in due time, you'll be able to make sense of how players do things and why. there's nobody like rachel in gg, though i guess if i had to name a closest relative it'd probably be testament.
