SolxBaiken Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Well...as much as I hate Book Toss xN there's a reason it's used so much, it's arguably the BEST projectile in the game; - It moves in an arch so not only does it land in it's desired target, it can also catch any airborne opponent who underestimates it - It's relatively fast - It has a "shrapnel" effect in which when the desired book makes ground impact it will scatter several other books which can hit the opponent and give you the same desired effect as the original projectile. - It has RIDICULOUS guard stun - It can hit both near and VERY far away, and since they can be done in rather rapid succession it makes controlling the space between you can your opponent easy Yeah Manaka has always been viable, I just couldn't see it at first because too many players relied solely on Book Toss and then when they slipped up or their opponent got smart and inside, they were exposed for not knowing anything else.
SolxBaiken Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 1 more vid before E-Mode kicks in, this time a Multi combo vid~
SolxBaiken Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Today's offerings were a bit slim in quality, but still enjoy~ TAC 1 TAC 2 TAC 3
SolxBaiken Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Man making frame data charts is a bitch >.< Well I'm almost done with the place holders and then I can go back to filling in the other stuff ^^; Anyways today's videos~ This last one had no audio :< Maybe I'll do an audoswap~
SolxBaiken Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 Hello thread of mostly me talking to myself~ I missed you~ *hugs self* Anyways the wiki is coming along very nicely~ (or so I'd like to think .__.) and these are today's vid offerings:
furix Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 As always, thank you for the videos~ It is always appreciated. Also, the Touka vs Karula match in the first video was nice.
TheGreatReptar Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Riannon looks ST Akuma stupid now that people know how to play her =\
kazukifafner Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Here are a couple videos uploaded by gameacho:
furix Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Riannon looks ST Akuma stupid now that people know how to play her =\ She's always looked pretty stupid tbqh. But, she requires smart play still, even if people learn how to play her. :<
HiagoX Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 She's always looked pretty stupid tbqh. But, she requires smart play still, even if people learn how to play her. :< I know right.
SolxBaiken Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 I know right. She really does, bad Riannons get exposed whenever someone gets in, believe it or not she has great close range tools. So if you can out think Riannon she's not as hard to beat as you might think.
Deviru Dahlia Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 :C I still care about this thread (And game). That won't change. Even more good video footage.
drzero7 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Is it GO1 being a Melty Blood veteran that is kicking ass in that acho-vid or is Riannon that stupidly broken? And what does Yuki assist do? Custom combo links? It seems the popular chars are overall Riannon, Tamaki, Touka, and Karura.

Yes for the 10 bamillionth time Riannon is dumb (sorry nothing against you, it's just tired of hearing it) the only thing that makes GO1 stand out so much is the fact he's a smart player and abuses some lame setups. She's tough to beat but NOT impossible. As for what Yuki does look here. Karula is not used nearly as much as Konomi, but you'd be right about the rest. But I see a relatively healthy amount of all characters (with Morgan on the rise), everyone in this game is good, you just might have to work for it is all
HiagoX Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 She really does, bad Riannons get exposed whenever someone gets in, believe it or not she has great close range tools. So if you can out think Riannon she's not as hard to beat as you might think. And that's why every Riannon wins most matches, even though they get in many times. Yo damn, japanese players must suck at this game. Even though bad Riannons tend to have themselves exposed, that doesn't mean much when she can just zone you again for ages after getting away from you. Just like you said, she has great tools, not to mention she can deal huge damage off a lot of stuff. Oh yeah, and let's not forget about Resist Smash and assist characters in case you need some space to zone again (Yuki is a pretty good example). I've been watching videos ever since its release date, and even bad Riannons win consistently. She's just that stupid. Also lol on the premise of "if the player is bad, she's not as hard to beat!".
Hecatom Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) She really does, bad Riannons get exposed whenever someone gets in, believe it or not she has great close range tools. So if you can out think Riannon she's not as hard to beat as you might think. girl, there is nothing bad on accepting that a game that you like has some balance issues, that doesnt turn it into a bad game, besides its not unlikely that after sbo examu would patch the game (unleast they do something like they did with ah1 on the 1st sbo) just dont be like the 3s players that when someone point the evident balance problems of the game they turn deffensive about it, as i said not being well balanced doesnt make the game bad plus theorically when we talk about how strong or weak a char is its using the high level play as reference, yes bad rianons would be exposed for what they are, but that doesnt change that at high level play, even a medium tier rianon's player seems to do well enough to beat better players that are using other chars, imo its like rianon was designed with zoning capabilities for a more mobile game, with more defensive options now dont get me wrong i dont mind strong high tiers chars as long as they dont turn the game in a play this char or go away festival on another note, its seems that its as i always said no one likes when the top tiers are zonners or grapplers :/ Edited July 16, 2011 by Hecatom
SolxBaiken Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Ugh... I was hoping that Furupoo's reply made it painfully obvious what Hisago twistedly said was NOTHING that I meant, and then Heca you have to come and further twist the logic. RIANNON IS DUMB, DUMB AS SHIT!!! You will NEVER hear me say otherwise, but the game's been out for a month now, and JUST NOW hearing all the griping is super annoying, and I just don't feeling explaining in great length why she's not as bad as everyone bitches about her. I love AP and think the cast is great, but when I get to Riannon that's when I think someone had unrestricted access to handling her balancing cause there's no way a character should've gotten that dumb. Riannon is borderline broke, she is BROKEN and I've been saying since day 1 she needs be get nerfed the fuck out, but I slowly came to the realization that she may be dumb, but you can still beat her, it just requires you to think, ALOT. I've seen plenty of Riannons fall to players who are willing to take risk and when the time comes think about not only their actions but Riannon's as well. Riannon can set all the traps up she wants but once one is activated THEY ALL GO OFF, so you can bait em and get close in on Riannon (Satsuki assist can be great for anyone needing distance). If you have a dash Super charge in on her (most can avoid her Giga Astra with timing) and then wreck her close up not allowing her to cast anything. Low blocking effectively will do wonders for you in this match up cause Riannon has almost 0 overhead options, also you'll have to Impact Guard well against her to avoid chip, Low Emotion, and getting Guard Crushed. If you play Morgan there is almost 0 reason to lose to Riannon. Am I saying Riannon is easy? HELL FUCKING NO, but I'm not saying just give into despair whenever you see her, if you approach a Riannon match up like you would any other you deserve to lose, and until people are willing to adapt to her by doing things they might not want to do, Riannon will see more godly than she is. I see no reason for Examu to release a patch/add-on for the game eventually like they do with alot of their titles, and I'm sure Aqua+ didn't want to have them just make a dumb fighter, so I'm confident she'll get fixed.
Tachyons Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) http://p.aquaplus.jp/?rc=2076129853&p=6-9_rank_rate.html&rank=USE_CHARA Touka most used, Riannon least used. LEAST. http://p.aquaplus.jp/?rc=1967088533&p=6-1_rank_all.html&rank=VP_T Top 10 is varied considering it's a 10-character roster. That should say a bit against the "use Riannon and win!" mentality. Of course she's really good. But believe me, she's nowhere near CT trio dumb. Edited July 16, 2011 by Tachyons
SolxBaiken Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Well sorry I can't stand up to the juggernaut that it A-Cho....this is all I have to offer today....
furix Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Nice videos, I liked the combo at the end of the Color World 1/2 with Karula.
Jetamania Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) I went to the Shinjuku Sportsland Tougeki SBO qualifier today. I arrived late so I din't get to play, but I got to watch some good games. Figured I'd share some observations; It was a 32 player qualifier. LOTS of Toukas, like 15 or so. No Multi or Manaka at all, but all other characters were represented by at least 2 players. I think there were 3-4 Riannon players, not as many as I would have suspected, but they all made it to Ro8. Top 4 was 2x Riannon, Touka and Karulau. In the end, Taronyan (たろにゃん) won with Karulau after beating Riannon in the finals. He pretty much won by guard breaking Riannon to death once he got her in the corner. Tougeki also has some interesting rules regarding assists. Both characters AND assists are locked after you enter the tournament, so you can't counter pick assists based on matchup. Tournament itself was pretty good. Lots of SSS or S+ players, but briefly looking at the brackets I couldn't recognize any really big name players. But then again with everyone switching there Nesica card names every other week it's pretty hard to keep track these days. Player data page of the winner if anyone is interested: http://p.aquaplus.jp/?rc=935447959&p=./9-1-1_search_player&view=e103b12f9292bd43acc467f9aaae517a&pre=9-0_search Edited July 18, 2011 by Jetamania
