BladeOfJustice7 Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 and that, right there, is one of the major things that made me drop blazblue. I played Rachel since CT, and every new BB iteration has been shifting her more and more towards zoning. If i wanted to play a fuggin' zoning character, i'd play Nu. Seems they're pretty adamant about making Rachel a zoner and not a rushdown-mixup oriented character disguised as a zoner. Luckily, the rushdown-mixup archetype comes back in CP. I'm probably gonna switch to Izayoi for CP. It's still disappointing because i really like Rachel as a character. I can understand where you're coming from in that respect. Leaving for Florida now. See you guys next week. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta. Have a safe trip. They did the same thing to Hakumen. No they didn't I've reiterated this before. First of all Hakumen has by far the most powerful counter/parry system. EVER. In order for BB to be more; Offensive, faster paced, and rushdown oriented. Which I find it is, they needed adjust the "defensive character" of the game. If his counters worked the same then he would be way too powerful since he would essentially shut down the offense of certain characters, like Ragna. He still has powerful defensive options but, he has more offensive options to replace the defensive ones he lost. Like I said compare AC Baiken to CP Hakumen and you'll see the Baiken has more options more offensive and pressure tools than Hakumen and still commands just as much respect on defense. no, what they did with hakumen was take a bad character and each iteration shift him to being a good character Yes, thank you. The main issue he is missing in all of this for the new game is that in addition to the new time based hitstun degradation, many moves have been sped up, many moves have MORE hitstun added and many moves have same-move-proration added. Basically links are a lot easier to make, a lot of things that would never work before, can work now. This allows some VERY creative abare combos and makes landing risky hits a lot more fun and rewarding. The only limiting factor in all this is how and how soon you end the combo. I'd also like to point out that 95% of the characters in blazblue in EVERY iteration of the game had some "combo ender" that was the same across the board for almost all of their combos. If you took blazblue extend and slapped a time limiter on the combos and removed per hit hitstun degradation, it would be fucking stupid. CP is a completely different game, designed to work with such a mechanic. I wouldn't write it off so easily. All of this. Also, I am not really looking forward to CP. It's going to be broken as hell and very frustrating. I can't wait for CP+extend gold edition, though ! I am looking forward to CP because I feel it's going in the right direction in order to not be under the shadow of GG, while matching up to it. But I am looking forward to the update to CP as well. I am not that hype for a lot of changes either, because I guess I've accepted the way things are in the current version. I do however think that a lot of these changes are good for people who haven't really accepted the way BB is currently. I think it will at least be refreshing, and there are some changes I really can't wait for, so for the bigger picture, I'm looking forward to the release, but it can take its time. Sent from my Windows 7 AMD Phenom II X4 965 using Google Chrome 27.0.1453.110 m Yes exactly my thoughts. I could go on an infinite rant about this and that in Blazblue, but what it all boils down to is i always wanted Blazblue to be Guilty Gear with new sprites, which it obviously isn't. That's the wrong way of looking at a game then. If only Guilty Gear was a good game, but it doesn't have the WiiFit Trainer so its shit. Agreed. or at least WiiGolf or Dance Dance Revolution wat? exactly lol. I need my dose of fabulous, ain't nothing gonna change that MOntreal NEEDS more fabulousness. Except she's not, it's the exact same shit as BBCS, except this time they were actually smart enough to make that shit UNIVERSAL. THERE IS A GOD. A version is, B version is a very good move. BBCP Rachel is hype Again I disagree, balance looks good enough. As someone who has pretty much watched all the vids I fail to see anything that makes the game look remotely 'broken as hell' (except Hakumen OD lol). Broken is BBCT and BBCS1. There ARE a few stupid things indeed but nothing to lose hype about. Hakumen's OD, since I already mentioned it, IS bullshit and probably my greatest complaint (it makes me go wtf everytime), but outside of this and damage with meter don't forget he is not as good a character as before. Overall EX Hakumen is probably just as scary. Then Tao's oki may seem problematic as well... There is no denying that she is strong but she is not broken. There is only one Tao in the top 20 and those who get to the top with her in CP are exceptional players that have been doing just as good in the other versions. Yes there are strong characters that seemed dominant at first but slowly the other characters are catching up just fine and I have been impressed at least once by every last one of them (except Izayoi, lack of good footage). Arakune seems balanced this time around, the character is actually interesting now. Then we have characters like Valk... He's still considered top tier in BBCP and yet I can assure you that he was more broken/retarded in all the previous versions, including EX. As for low tier characters they are thoroughly represented and are doing quite good in tournaments/ranbats. Everyone seems to at least have something going for them. In the end we have a game where every character is viable (except Izayoi lolol) (and even then I know absolutely nothing about her so I can't speak seriously) and I am impressed; I expected much, much worse from the first iteration. Nothing to dissect here. Yes there's more wacky mechanics like OD (which every characters has, some more useful than others). But they're not mind-numbingly abusable. And outside of that every character got some much needed adjustments. Though I feel that if they can give the bonus proration (or wtv it's called) to Renka and reducing the potency of Hakumen's OD, would be a huge improvement. Since, Zantetsu is his main damaging combo starter, which limits his offense. You're proving him right and got his message... What he said is that the importance of j.A instant overhead is even stronger on the character now (probably because of this buff). If you have a knockdown, j.A the musical on broadway, 50-50, Binary, 0 or 1. You can still go for everything else, but one of your best mixup is now universal. Exactly, if you were to compare Ino to Rachel, Ino has a greater variety of mixup at her disposal which she gets in close on you after making you block one of her projectiles or knocking you down. She doesn't just use one IOH and they have to guess how long you'll do it for, she has a very scary high-low mixup and grab game. You know what, screw you guys, I'm leaving for some other place and taking Foonzo with me. OH NOESS... NOT THE FABULOUSNESS Don't jump to ruclusions. I see what you did there. How did this thread became Dustloop in a nutshell? What's wrong with that? Ah, whoops, I left out an important bit from my post. I meant to say that BB never really completely delivered (as much as that other fighter -- GG), when it could have been more. If it kept the most popular characteristics from CT, then it likely could have achieved wider success. As it is, it was mostly riding SFIV's hype coattails. These characteristics were CT's game speed, short combo length, and ease of access for a newbie. It's hard to accurately describe it, but CT's combo system felt like it had more freedom than its successors. Starting with CS1, there were more limitations on execution, such that it became a bit stricter or less free-form to use your character. The game was also slower, and combos took way too long. I know some (non-fighting gamer) guys who were put off by these and dropped BB on the dot. I may be wrong on that, but I certainly felt the difference using Jin. I'm saying all this as a player who has experienced GG. GG is quite simply a more fun game with more options and less limitations. I doubt CP's going to do anything to bring me over from GG at this point in time -- top tier Haku practical 10k unburstable OD combos or not. CT's combo system (at least for Hakumen) was the most limited by far, and it was the slowest version of BB as well. CT is actually one of the reasons why it has had such a bad rep all these years. Dumb-auto-pilot zoning top tiers and shitty close range fighters with a slow game speed and way too easy combos in proportion to the damage. And it doesn't help that the game is not made by Capcom and is anime, aka GAYYYYYY. This post is bullshit. GG is good, BB is good, combos are combos, haters gonna hate. That's a bit harsh. But I feel that CP is the first step in BB is coming into it's own light and out of the shadows of GG, which is extremely hard to do. Considering GG's legacy it has left behind, and bringing back as well. Why don't you guys stfu already and play whatever the fuck you want to play and stop bitching about the other games that you can't play and be happy. This thread is derailing so much over small details its insane it gringes me so much god damn. If you find this post too offensive then so be it and delete it idgaf. Ty. I don't see what the problem is with the discussion that's taking place. I always enjoy other people's opinions when hearing something sucks. I mean we all universally agree Xbox1 sucks afterall :p are you guys really taking the last two pages or so of posts seriously? this thread stopped being serious at Granted, it may seem to reflect my personal opinion, but it's more along the lines of "I like guilty gear a lot more, but blazblue is still the next best thing". And I didn't want to go into details because it was just gonna be a "i like this better in guilty gear"fest. It is the next best thing, and I do feel the game will develop into it's own thing very soon. It's not quite there yet with CP, but it's certainly the right in the right direction. I'd hate for BB to simply be GG with different sprites and characters I was the one who brought up this discussion and was away all day unable to read the posts. But if this discussion is irritating too many people then I guess it should be dropped. Also Man of Steel was dope, it was the Superman movie anyone could wish for. Nothing like some good old WAYNE Industries and LexCorp cameo appearances for DC's first outting since the TDK trilogy Kirbster, you never told me what you thought of Iron Man 3.
Lich Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 (edited) Why the hell did you quote every post in the past like page or two when it was a conflict that seemed to have ended. lmao Edited June 15, 2013 by Lich
Heartless Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 - "Just use them where you think your opponent won't try and bait it. :/" BUT YOU ALWAYS BAIT THEM. ALWAYS. Here is the thing, each time I take a pause in my pressure to bait your options, that's the time to get out of my face. Since I'm giving you a moment to 1. use your option, 2. allow you to pressure me or 3. allow you to escape. It's not a fun way to win. But it must be done.
DerQ Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 allow you to escape. This. Against Tager this a million times. The value of remaining at neutral and not in Tager's range is just too important
raiyan Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Hi, I'm new to dustloop. I'm also semi new to fighting games, but I do have a bit of experience in some. the games I mostly play are persona 4 arena, BBCT, and I'm looking to play BBCP when it comes out. I'm also willing to get BBCS extend. Nice to meet you all.
raiyan Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Hi daisy. So what exactly do we do here? I'm new to this whole thing and just want to know what to do.
Bibiquadium Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Hi and welcome, you found the best place for these type of games! We often meetup at a Bar/Lounge (18+) Downtown of Montreal called Foonzo to play them. Our meetup days are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday so if you pass by during those days you'll most likely see us. We also have a community website (Sankishin) http://www.sankishin.com where we all gather and chat together on the forum, there you can talk with us and ask information about meetups and etc!
raiyan Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Shit. I'm only 17. You guys don't meet up anywhere that is not age restricted?
Bibiquadium Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Sometimes but rarely. We'll most likely post about it here or talk about in on my forum if things are happening.
raiyan Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Cool. If you guys don't mind ill participate with online things. And if you guys ever meet up in a non age restricted place then ill come. Im pretty sure that by the time BBCP comes out ill be 18.
Bibiquadium Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 You can feel free to add me on PSN, I netplay sometimes when I'm bored, same with a few others here.
raiyan Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Im in hampstead. Im going to dawson cejep so ill be down town allot. My birthday is in may so after my second semester ill be sure to come when ever i can.
Nedel_3773 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks to Kaeru and Brice for coming down yesterday and putting me in the trial by fire mode in GG. Getting good at that game is gonna take a while I believe. Also I wanna say a VERY FREAKIN BIG THANK YOU to Kaeru for fixing my stick. Maintenant il ne me reste qu'a rentabiliser tout ce temps et ces efforts mis dessus : D @Blade: We had a small debate yesterday: what's is May's age?
Dai_Loli Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Speaking of non-age restricted place, I believe I'd be free for a Gore week-end on Canada Day week-end. And you know, I just realized... if there's gonna be a Blazblue anime... that means... Platinum merchandise :3 Edited June 16, 2013 by Dai_Loli

My birthday is in may so after my second semester ill be sure to come when ever i can. In may? So you turned 17 less than a month ago? :( Welcome to dustloop btw hmmmm, Gore is an offline location, but a more troublesome one since we might be going 2-3 days. Long story short, my parents own this house in Gore (between Lachute and Saint-Sauveur) and I've been pushing the idea of going there for a weekend. Being an hour away, if you don't have your own mean of transportation, then you'll probably have to stay there the whole weekend. Good news is, I want to bring some of the guys here on Canada day's weekend which is really close and a non-18 location. Since we're talking about this, 9~ is about the amount of beds allowed to be used unless people bring their own. Let me know who's in, if we're enough I'll try and see if Ottawa wants to come for a day
AirMaster Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Speaking of non-age restricted place, I believe I'd be free for a Gore week-end on Canada Day week-end. And you know, I just realized... if there's gonna be a Blazblue anime... that means... Platinum merchandise :3 It's BBCT anime, not CS. Sorry.
Bibiquadium Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 If Trinity is there its fine, Platinum can be deleted.
pochp Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I'm down for gore. It's BBCT anime, not CS. Sorry. You sure? Even if it is, they may decide to give certain characters that were unimportant in CT a bigger role, since they cover more archetypes that people would be interested in. I heard that, sometimes, anime adaptations are a bit different from the original material.

DerQ Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Gore list as of this post Pochp, Dai Loli, Dhaos, Me, 3 guys from Sherbrooke. we're 7 at the current time no idea if these are confirmed or not, but more the people that said "I'm down". Little reminder that we can be more than 7, it's just a matter of who sleeps where and how we get there. (for instance, if a car comes for only a day, the place can accommodate it with ease) edit: Brice and sam are down. we're 9, anything past this point better think of a solution for beds because right now : 1 couch, 2 double bed, 1 1.5 bed (2 but pretty small), 2 mattress we can put on the floor (bed mattress, just no bed with it). You can also make yourself a really nice self made bed with chair pillows :3 Food + gas costs (lol sherbrooke) are usually 20-25 per person for the shared meals for a 2 day weekend. Any alcohol + snacks you want/need is not shared in the shared pot for food. I'm thinking of spending that 100$ gift cards on FBPB ingredients that weekend lol #RIP Edited June 16, 2013 by DerQ
