Jackie Chandler Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Nah, I'll still make it Milln. A competition is a competition. I appreciate you taking new venues into consideration for next year. I can handle the arcade for the last two MTN's of 2011.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Would there be any point in bringing my tv next time with so little room? I'mma try to be at the next one regardless. In any case, I might finally get my hands on a fight stick. What do you guys recommend?
LastStarSaviour Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) This MTN sounds meh. First we lose venue (I loved the space because I didn't feel fat) and we're losing even more people on BB. Without Middy, Naimat, and a few others. My competitive drive is dying. Losing to Tager is always..., and I would enjoy not having to fight Ragna and Haku-Men every match. Kind of feels like we just play this game for lawls now. I've played BB for the lawls for quite a few months now. At this point, Marvel and 3S are more fun to me. Don't get me wrong, BB is fun with you guys. I just don't play it in my offtime. And even though we're having the tournaments in the arcade, it shouldn't instantly put you all into emo mode. There are chairs and stools (and the Tekken bench) throughout, so don't assume you'll be standing for 8 hours. Someone can bring an extra setup (possibly two if you talk to Richard or Jason), because there are unused ASUS monitors next to the Tekken machine. If you get bored, spend a few quarters on some classic arcade action. Recording can be minimized to finals and grand finals using Milln's or someone else's cell phones. Seiki Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I haven't been playing bb much since marvel came out and ever since i started playing sf4. Really the only tourny I was actually ready for was the first MTN. I should practice more but I'm too lazy/busy. I'm kind of with astaroth I find MvC3/SF4 (in my case) more fun now and there is a larger community in TN for those games.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) I figured that was the case for a lot of you guys. I even thought about Marvel simply because more people were playing it but I honestly can't get myself to like it (I must admit It's pretty fun to watch though). Hopefully another game I like gets mainstream and some people actually play it *looks doubtfully at Skullgirls* *Winks to KoF13* R.I.P BB Edited September 18, 2011 by LastStarSaviour
Milln Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Play 3SO. And experience the Soul Cal revival.
Alphakami Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Pretty sure I can make it next weekend. With that said, I'd love to have a little 'future' of MTN meeting after the tourney at dinner or something. There are many cost effective and badass venue options I can think of, depending on what the core group wants things to evolve into, and i don't wanna see this thing die out. It's one of the few things I get to do for pure fun, and when you're ancient, that's priceless.
Astaroth136 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I wish the two middle TN scenes would somehow combine. There are plenty of great SF/MVC3 players that I've had the pleasure of meeting, whereas most of you guys have never even seen them. Of course, the problem is the vast differences of preferred games. I agree with Tad. It would be terrible for our scene to slowly die off. A change of venue can be good, but don't forget that it can be detrimental too. If it's a further drive for a few people, you can almost guarantee that their attendance will slowly drop. I know in my case, if this new venue is more than an hour away from my house, I won't make it nearly as often (personal circumstances of course, and I commend Chandler and Papstr for making it out every month). Best case scenario is getting to choose between a few venues and asking everyone how this will affect their commute. Then we can look at venue fees, space, etc.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 The TN BB scene isn't dying- it's just going through some complications. >.> But Tad and Astaroth are right. I don't know what I'd do if our scene died out. Whatever happens with the venue, even if it's further away for me, I'll always do my best to make it. I hope we do what Tad suggested and have a group discussion about the future of MTN over dinner.
Papstr Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Well, I thought I was gonna make this, but I signed a deal with the parents that they'll bring me by later on their way home (Parent's Weekend at TTU or some shit) Long as Jackie brings me back (of course he will <3) As for my thoughts on the whole everything's dying drama: Same thing happened when Brawl(+) really. It just kinda slowly died. I blame Tennessee for being a boring place. Regardless, I do love you people. Kinda. And I'd hate to see it die. If people don't like Blazblue, cool. There's always other stuff League of Legends that we can try. We got 3rd Strike fans, Marvel fans, Blazblue fans, KoF fans, and children who like Smash! A change of venue would not bother me, as long as it didn't bother Jackie, seeing as how he is my valiant steed when I must travel somewhere. I think a discussion during dinner is a sound idea.
Astaroth136 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Jason, the owner of the arcade, just posted this on SRK. It sounds like a good idea. We will have a once a month tournament in the storage area now to also be opened to the public known as the Game Galaxy Retro Arcade Museum which will be open once a month on Saturdays (first one Oct 29) in conjunction with Milln's tourney running at the same time....more announcements and press release coming for that. Essentially the $10 cover charge will get you free play and cover charge into the tournaments where you will only need to pay entry fees...
Mr.Pickle Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Pfft children who like smash....I call bullshit on that! I'm a man damn it, I can grow a beard and stuff lol....also about the venue thing, maybe we can do it at someone's house, like KO's house of smash tourneys :D
Jackie Chandler Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Seems like Game Galaxy's coming through after all. Now I feel bad for doubting it.
Astaroth136 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 When I asked how it will look/be cleaned up... Storage will be completely cleaned up. Pretend it's another arcade, with AC working, lol...and people need wristbands.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Storage will be completely cleaned up. Pretend it's another arcade, with AC working, lol...and people need wristbands. This is sounding more and more badass. I really hope the arcade delivers. If it does, I know my vote's gonna be to hold 2012 MTN's there.
The xFalcon Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 New guy here. I'm all set for the tournament this weekend! Does anyone else from Memphis show up to this every month?
Milln Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) So many awful applicants I get to sift through taking up my time. There will be a discussion over dinner after the September MTN. I mandate everyone to be there discuss many things. This museum thing sounds cool, I'll have to talk to him about it. New guy here. I'm all set for the tournament this weekend! Does anyone else from Memphis show up to this every month? Nope. Much to our disappointment. Cyner and AzurePhoenix keep saying they will/would, but never have. It would be great to have you. Edited September 18, 2011 by Milln
Jackie Chandler Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 New guy here. I'm all set for the tournament this weekend! Does anyone else from Memphis show up to this every month? Why didn't you say so in the first place? :P Welcome! Like Milln said, there are a couple guys in Memphis (Cyner/Azurephoenix) who can never seem to make it up, I'd imagine because of gas/distance. You should definitely talk to them about it. If you're planning on coming up anyway, you might be able to split gas prices by coming up together. By the way, do you have XBL? And out of curiosity, who do you main?

I might bring this AzurePhoenix guy too if I can get in contact with him. Why didn't you say so in the first place? :P Welcome! I'm The xFalcon on XBL and I main Ragna and second Jin.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I main Ragna You'll fit right in. And I'll shoot you a request on Live.
