Milln Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Chandler is in this video. LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAKab7f923Y&feature=player_embedded#! Good job, Jackie. You did it.
LastStarSaviour Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Game looks very quick. Matches seem like Marvel speed as far as time between sitting down and getting back up. Combo length (from a time perspective) is quick but can be longer if you're doing one that requires resources. I like this. Doesn't seem to be much back-and-forth, though. As in, momentum has a ton of influence and looks like it's tough to come back from being combo'd twice, but definitely doable if you have the ability. Of course, that could just be a case of the matches showcasing players that severely outplay their opponents, but you know, whatever. Game is flashy and fun to watch and has a certain "wtf just happened?" element to it. If I don't play it, i'll at least spectate it. Only saw two combos(and one pattern of opening the opponent up) from each character, though, and that puts a huge damper on my hype level. One combo is the regular bread, the other one has the toast and some peanut butter n' jelly on it. I'd prolly play the knife guy whose name escapes me. He looks like he can be creative. There aren't many characters in the game that have only one way of opening people up (some ways are probably just ten times more effective, therefore being used a lot more often), everybody does have ridiculous combo potential as well. I do like the fact that a match can be decided in two combos off of decent-sized mistakes from your opponent. Yosuke is definitely becoming one of the more played characters in the game. Mostly due to his crazy ability to control neutral (much like Tao in a sense) plus his high-low and throw mix-ups are extremely strong (Pretty much Bang level). Overall, he's going to be extremely annoying to fight, and honestly, I can't wait.
Mr.Minionman Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Had fun in the Skullgirls sideshow :o would hope to see more of it in the future, starting to become strangely addicted to the game. It's funny though, I'm free in just about all the other fighting games atm. Oh, and future reference Wes is to Mr.Minionman as Cake is to dessert.
LastStarSaviour Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 YO KIDS!!! YOU LIKE SMASH!!! PLAYSTATION GOT YOU!!!!
Milln Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 If I can play as a Gran Turismo car, I'll buy it thirty times. Quote my words. Also new acronym for it is PASBRO if we're making fun of it, PBR if we're not.
LastStarSaviour Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 It was ridicule-worthy, but then Crash Bandicoot got in that shit and showed niggas what's real.
Seiki Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 In an interview with one of the developers, he said they hired several high level tournament players to help make this game. They said they wanted the game to have the same level of depth as other fighting games. I wouldn't ridicule it just yet. They are taking the right steps and I respect their intentions to try to make it more than just a party game. I mean even I have to admit Melee is just as deep as any other fighting game. This could be as well.
Milln Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 KOF 13 is an awesome game, guys. I'm amused that you(plural) aren't talking about the BlazBlue tourney and how cool it was. I know we had like fiveish, I was gonna play along with it for a while if you all said we had a ton of entrants. Have no fear, your concern of me cancelling it may wash away. BB was what we started on, and i'm not going to kick it out after having a 10-ish entrants, then having a small turnout. I'll consider it a one-off. It still starts at 3, though. First post will be updated soon for May.
LuminAbyss Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Wasn't melee's depth an accident? Not that that's a bad thing or anything. KOF 13 is amazing yes Millin. Also When I put this in the context of FGs, I lol'd.
Milln Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Millin. I was all ready to post a cool reply and talk about Melee and KOF 13 when I saw this. We are no longer bros. You are dead to me.
Milln Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 I'll pronounce it correctly, I'm sorry. You better be. I can't remember if i've actually DQ'd someone for saying it wrong, but I've joked about it numerous times. Getting DQ'd by me is the same thing as murder.
LastStarSaviour Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I thought BB got like 16 people during the last real tournament we had. That's like 2 people less than what King of Cartels got. Hopefully, the people who do play BB show up this time and don't decide to stay at home and beat their dicks. Also Astaroth, i've been putting in work for you bro. My school had a bunch of big events these past two days and we've had access to gaming systems. I immediately started talking about fighters with a lot of people and surprisingly, many of them played Marvel (about 10 or so to be exact), gonna try to convince them more to come out to the marvel tournaments. People be afraid of tournament-play for some reason though. The Marvel money matches we had were lawls though.

Milln Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 MOTHER OF GOD! Get them to come to our next event! Spread the word. Grow the community. Constantly. @entrants: don't take what I said the wrong way and create an argument out of it. For clarity's sake, we had 13 in March BB and 18 for KFC. @skurred of tournament play: people like to think they are good. When it becomes apparent that they are not, they don't want to be part of that environment. Only people that want to get better enter tournaments. A lot of people just mess around. These people are also the target market of DLC and also make up the majority of versus game players.
LastStarSaviour Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) One of the players were actually pretty solid and I found myself having a bit of fun against his Spider-Man team. I'm going to try and push the subject of going to tournaments again tomorrow. Also, arguments? We don't have those in this thread. Just one-sided debates which no one is willing to continue after they've laid down what they have to say. Edited May 3, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Seiki Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Also, arguments? We don't have those in this thread. Just one-sided debates which no one is willing to continue after they've laid down what they have to say. yeah...I would like to argue against this... First off, a debate is a form of argument, so if you say we have a debate and debate=argument we have arguments. Second, what do you mean by one-sided? As in one side's argument completely outweighs the opposing side's argument? Or everyone picks one side and no one supports the other side? The latter doesn't make sense since it takes two to tango and it takes two to create a bitch fest and we have bitch fests aka arguments aka debates. Also, didn't your English teacher ever teach you not to make broad generalizations like saying "no one is willing to continue after they've laid down what they have to say"? Uh, I'm someone and I've argued on several occasions in this thread, especially against you.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) I think he's more pointing out that debates never really continue to completion. They spark up and then die off before anyone's conceded a point. Generalizations are fucking everywhere, and I've started to see them as non-absolute absolutes. i.e. This is something typical, but not necessarily 100% true. As long as the other side gets what you're saying it's irrelevant. Also -- I just realized Hei (BK-201) is American as fuck. Edited May 3, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Seiki Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 There is probably no true ending to an argument. So long as it's all opinionated and two people have enough ego left in them they will continue to argue until one person agrees with the other. We may not concede, but that isn't really the point of an argument. It's rare for arguments to have a concession especially ones that are heavily based on opinion. While it's most likely the person's intention is to persuade the other person he or she is right, arguments in most cases end up as mainly a means to expose and inform one on different perspectives on a subject. This may influence a person to change his or her position but it does not have to be a concession. Generalizations are avoided because if you don't literally mean what you said it can still be easily interpreted as such and thus the other side may not get what you're trying to say. It's best to minimize ambiguity because it only weakens one's argument.
LastStarSaviour Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Most of the arguments i've had has never been a matter of opinion. They've always been about core mechanics or something of that nature. For instance, in the one with Lumin and me, I talked about how Ragna was at an advantage in most cases in which he forces Noel to block. This was a matter of matching frame data and situations with each other, solid facts. When I mentioned "one-sided" debates, I was referring to how it seemes like the people I debated against were only interested in the argument while they were winning (via having the most factual information or having the most backing from other people), and were quick to drop it even after evidence from the opposing side which could be mutually used for study appeared. Also, I had no intention of trying to convince anyone of anything. Was merely letting facts be known, what they take from that is on them. Debating has become very free...and yes Volpe, Hei from Darker Than Black is extremely free
Seiki Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Most of my arguments with you on this forum have been because you say something that is in my opinion outlandish and is highly opinionated, not a discussion of facts.
