Seiki Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Lol so now Akihiko can paralyze you even if you block. With 150 SP he is almost guaranteed to get the instant kill so long as he touches you first.
Tophatmoffet Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I dunno about this particular change, but in many opinions he needed SOMETHING. Sounds potentially very strong, but no one uses instant kills in japan anyway, so its a moot point.
Mr.Minionman Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I'ma be coming to this MTN, I'll probably just be watching mostly, but I'd like to get in on the Skullgirls :o Still a scrub though, lol...
Seiki Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 What's great about the paralyze is that you can't jump so you can't chicken block. Akihiko really needed help in opening people up.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I didn't see Kain's post at first. I thought Naimat was talking to himself lolz
Milln Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 I'ma be coming to this MTN, I'll probably just be watching mostly, but I'd like to get in on the Skullgirls :o Still a scrub though, lol... Awesome, man! Always welcome! Just ask anyone in the Game Galaxy where the tournament is and they'll point you to it/us. TOURAMENT IS TOMORROW GUYS HOLY CRAP WTF YOU ALL BETTER ENTER EVERY SINGLE GAME
Jackie Chandler Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Dammit Arksys, you known I can't ignore practical Instant Kills. Akihiko considered for P4A main. Also, Chie no longer has 5B Fatal Counter. Sad face/lololololol. GUYS HOLY CRAP WTF YOU ALL BETTER ENTER EVERY SINGLE GAME I'm looking at the list, and this is what I see: Games: 12pm-Cough Thirteen 2pm-Mainstream 3pm – Astrals 4pm-Lol 5pm-Astaroth Wins: The Game V 6pm-Ultimate Astaroth vs. Boomcube 3 I'll be entering Cough and Astrals, because the way I'd be competing in anything else couldn't be considered playing the game. :P
Alphakami Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 No Mainstream? Fuckin' hipster. I'm going to astral you with your scarf. Wait, I'm not going tomorrow... sorry guys.
Milln Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 All you Jaggers need to listen to Jackie/Papstr/Astaroth. They're in charge. I cant be there cause of work obligations. Inventory got switched to tomorrow and I have to spend the day prepping. You all also should mingle and talk with the other crowds. Play some games. Get out of your little corner. Chat it up. Talk to some tattooed women. Film at 11.
Seiki Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 God damn that was a nice BB tournament. Sucks for those who didn't go.
Vocal Sabre Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I stayed home and played MVC3 with my GF instead...
Papstr Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 God damn that was a nice BB tournament. Sucks for those who didn't go. LOL
Milln Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 God damn that was a nice BB tournament. Sucks for those who didn't go. Hmm...
Jackie Chandler Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Shoutouts to me for not fucking up the brackets, running a semi-successful Skullgirls side tourney, "technically DQ'ing myself" twice in Blazblue, and knocking a table over without making so much as eye contact with it. Shoutouts to Star for needing to get his stuff out of Naimat's car, heading to the parking lot, and breaking into somebody else's car by accident. That shit was hilarious. Other shoutouts when it's not 2 in the morning and I'm exhausted.
Alphakami Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Who got a Prince Albert or Jacob's Ladder yesterday?
Vocal Sabre Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 breaking into somebody else's car by accident I lol'd
Jackie Chandler Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Before I forget, results: Soul Calibur Skullgirls Side Tourney Blazblue I forgot to screen cap the brackets for. Whoops. >_> The results were: 1st Place: LastStarSavior 2nd Place: Jackie Chandler 3rd Place: Zeno Actual shoutouts will still be coming later today.
Milln Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 You can bring it back up from tio's autosave feature. I'd like that bracket image, so I can put it in results post. =3 =3 =3
tret_tree Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Yesterday was awesome, as usual. Being around such talented people I have such immense respect for makes me determined to get better, but I'm a little frustrated with how much work it requires. I'm not even particularly sure where to go from here.... I could play a bunch of games like has been suggested to me, but, particularly in BlazBlue, I feel the knowledge I could gain from experience would be somewhat limited. Especially vs players like Chandler or Star, I only have a few seconds to decide on what I should or should not do before I make a mistake and am incapable of making such decisions for... basically the rest of the match, considering the nature and limitations of Lambda's close-up game. Could I have practiced the game more this past month? Yeah, but I'm not sure how much it would have helped. I guess I'm whining a bit, but there's definitely a mental roadblock there I need and would like to overcome.
Seiki Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Tret one thing that helps me get better is to first pinpoint what exactly you are struggling with. So with Lambda, if you are struggling once someone gets close to you what exactly is that character doing that makes it so hard for Lambda to deal with. The more specific you are the more clearer of a solution you will have. Here is an example of narrowing down the problem: Lambda struggles against a character up close. Why is that? I can't jump out of the character's pressure I don't have a move fast enough to deal with the pressure up close. What attacks are your opponent doing that is causing this? (we will use Ragna as an example) The opponent uses 5B and 2A a lot to keep me locked down. The train of thought here is you go from the broad problem: Lambda struggles against x character up close to pinpointing specifically that Lambda struggles in dealing with: Ragna's 2A and 5B. Now that the problem is more specific your solution can be as well. Finding the solution means experimenting and trying different things mid match. When you are playing against someone it helps vastly in terms of improving if you don't focus on winning the match but on experimenting with your options in the different situations that occur mid-match. In general, Lambda struggles when being pressured up close. You don't really have many options but to block and to use barrier to push the opponent far enough for you to be able to jump or backdash out of there. Remember, if you instant barrier the push is much greater. Learning to instant block basic blockstrings that almost everyone does helps a lot in giving Lambda the opportunity to jump out and airdash away from the opponent's pressure. The key thing to know is that Lambda may not have tools to deal with an opponent up close but she has plenty of tools to prevent her from getting into that situation in the first place. Learn to utilize her backdash by just experimenting using it. It's really fast and has good invincibility frames on it. As Lambda you have to constantly move around so the opponent cannot set you up to being cornered by him/her. The more you move around the harder it is for the opponent to catch you and the more likely they are going to make a mistake. If you can predict when the opponent is going to approach you by jumping and airdashing and when he/she is going to just dash on the ground keeping them away becomes a lot more simple since Lambda has answers for both of these options. A good Lambda player focuses more on the opponent's movement than his/her attacks. If you can predict how your opponent moves you can lock them down and put the pressure on them.
LastStarSaviour Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) P4U Tougeki Qualifiers (Really good high-level matches): Set 1 Set 2 Set 3 Set 4 This game gets all my love. Edited April 30, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Milln Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Game looks very quick. Matches seem like Marvel speed as far as time between sitting down and getting back up. Combo length (from a time perspective) is quick but can be longer if you're doing one that requires resources. I like this. Doesn't seem to be much back-and-forth, though. As in, momentum has a ton of influence and looks like it's tough to come back from being combo'd twice, but definitely doable if you have the ability. Of course, that could just be a case of the matches showcasing players that severely outplay their opponents, but you know, whatever. Game is flashy and fun to watch and has a certain "wtf just happened?" element to it. If I don't play it, i'll at least spectate it. Only saw two combos(and one pattern of opening the opponent up) from each character, though, and that puts a huge damper on my hype level. One combo is the regular bread, the other one has the toast and some peanut butter n' jelly on it. I'd prolly play the knife guy whose name escapes me. He looks like he can be creative.
Astaroth136 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Chandler is in this video. LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAKab7f923Y&feature=player_embedded#!
