So much malice.

Don't confuse malice with respect. Rape is the most pure form of love, after all.

Well, I'm really feeling Elizabeth. Her normals are solid and hit confirming with her isn't too hard. Her combos are basic and don't require a large amount of meter. I'm trying to get down her links now. The easiest thing I've found so far is Normals > 6LK > 623HP > Hop j.HK > 2363214P

I'm trying to figure out her links, but I can't figure out what connect into what. Her HP and HK normals are so slow. @_@

Elizabeth doesn't really have a whole lot of.... links. Her stuff just gatlings and cancels into each other. You've got the basic one, but you can actually get a 623A in there after the 623C.

Far C is slow as crap, yes. Her Close C is quick. Close C for all characters is among the fastest attacks in the game. That easy combo there you have is very useful and useable in all situations.

I don't, but I'm both old and awesome.

Further elaboration required.

Woz, I need to play you in all games now, we will have hype mirror matches until the day we die.

Edit: I just read a few of these other posts, this just got homo real quick-like. The fuck wrong with you people MTN?

lmao Johnny and May are direct references to Johnny Bravo and Little Suzy. And Eddie is a reference to Eddie Brock a.k.a. Venom from Marvel and they made Eddie's gay lover named Venom...huh. I always thought the shadow reminded me of the symbiote.

On being old or awesome? Chun in ST, Guy in Alpha 1, Rose in Alpha 2, Karin in Alpha 3, Q-bee in Vampire, Zangief and Charlie in XSF, Wolverine and Zangief in MSF, Psylocke in MSH, Chun and Iron Man in MVC1, Jill/Doom/Psy in MVC2, Thor,Trish,X23. Basically, I do it all, in a fairly mediocre fashion.

@ Combo talk- I really think you guys underestimate combos and their importance. It's important to know how to approach and how to react in certain situations, but if you can't consistently capitalize on the opportunities you're given and your opponent can, they can make a LOT more mistakes than you and still win the game. Just look at Marvel. That game is basically about getting a single hit and knowing how to kill your opponent after it. Personally, I always try to learn damaging combos off good hit-confirms first, then mix-ups, then approaches, then fancier stuff. But I don't expect other people to do the same. I think the way you approach things like this ends up influencing your own unique playstyle, so there's no right or wrong way to do it. Maybe that's just me though. *Shrug*

Chandler, I'm going to IK (astral) the FUCK out of you, so hard. My only regret is that it will kill you instantly, which prevents me from doing it to you twice per round.

REAL TALK. But nah, I'm gonna let you THINK you're gonna IK me. I'll let you stun me on purpose. But I'll have already gone into IK mode myself, I'll go into "OH SHIT I'M STUCK IN JIN'S CT ICE" mode, and use my IK's invincibility to go through your IK and kill you with mine.

Or just learn Order Sol and combo into it. Both are legitimate possibilities.

The other day I finally stunned Keith and was gonna IK him. but Baiken's dizzy state has her crouch down. So it missed.

I always go through the movelist of a character and test the properties of every attack in every situation. (Counter hit, vs. air, vs. ground, etc.) After that I start practicing combos, which helps me to get the feel down for the character. By doing combos I start to feel the rhythm behind the character. Then I work on approach and mixups. But I don't just capitalize on one thing at a time, I like to work them all in together.

But yeah, I got down all the Elizabeth BnB's I could find on YouTube and from match videos. So I just started learning some dumb combos like 5HP > 6LK > 623HP > 236HP > 623LP > 214LK~236HP > 623LP > 214LK~236HP > 623LP > j.HK > 2363214P. I can't believe it's so easy to do.

The point guys in combos vs learning your character and the game, is that if you're a noob, you should be playing to learn, not to win. Combos don't get you good at a game, playing it does, and winning once in a while because you can do a pretty combo doesn't mean you're more skilled. When we play Guilty Gear, or maybe even P4U I'll show you guys all about skill with a game and character vs execution, because I KNOW some of you will hit the combo videos for inspiration, be it when AC or when R comes out, I believe it will happen, and I suck butt at combos.

Screenshotted in case of edit cause I love it(read:it's hilarious and unexpected) when Klein says stuff like that.

@Tad: Nothing, I was just wondering something is all. You're still having that casual first to 100 with me in P4U right? I'm pretty much going to be renting you for that entire day so don't think you'll get to do much else man.

@Combo topic: I don't really have much to say honestly. It shouldn't take you that long to feel out a characters move-set and understand their general use and how they should be used (It takes me about pretty much 5 minutes of lab-work to figure it out). I do believe feeling some parts of the game out is important, but there is going to be times where combos are going to be crucial (mostly due to the fact that that where most of your oki set-ups come from anyways), and in Mai's case it's very much so. While she does have good cross-up potencial and a few gimmicks (Her Ukibane and her cross-up aerial normals), she doesn't net that good of reward off them compared to the risk she has to take to do said gimmicks. Ukibane is a really good tool to use, AT FIRST, but it gets extremely predictable and easy to block after seeing it a few times. Your best bet if you ask me on how to play her is to simply know your frame-traps, I think this is the thing that will make or break Mai players. Poking solidly while combining your musasabi no Mai to return to safe neutral positions and then building a wall with Ryenbus and fans to force your opponent to have to get in again while building pretty good meter at the same time is essentially your best bet for getting the most out of her. There are a ton of easy, meterless combos you can do with her if you're running her on point and some really high-damaging combos you can do if you're willing to spend a bit of meter. I can go ahead and write up the most optimal combos for you if you want Woz, I can even give you a 99% i've developed with her if you want to run her as anchor like I plan to do. Ultimately though, I would stress learning her frame-traps and how to abuse Musasabi no Mai to an art. Low light kick> Low light kick> Standing Light kick> standing hard kick is generally what I like to use with her. Opponents can't press buttons against it. After you've done your last hit you get some time to decide your next move or bait out your opponents', or charge up to use Musasabi no Mai. Also, throwing meaty fans to force your opponent to respect you on wake-up is extremely effective in almost all knockdown situations. If thrown full-screen you have time to actually run along-side the fan (kind of like what mature can do with her projectile) and apply safer mix-ups and pressure from there (I usually tend to make this my go-to tool if i'm trying to apply high-low mix-up with her). You can even combo off of it if you can react in time to seeing it connect on your opponent.

Again though, i'm just a free scrub who doesn't know how to play fighting games so I don't know how helpful you will think this information is. Looks like this turned out to be more of a discussion about Mai than one of combos for me. She's still my favorite character in game, and I think she has quite a few hurdles to overcome when it comes to the rest of the cast, but I think most of it is manageable (Clark, K, and some other characters are giving her the most trouble, along with some other characters i'm not sure about).

I keep getting PMs about the status of the Skullgirls videos from MWC. Get that ass in gear, Jackie... :p

On the subject of KoF: I've turned that game into Divekick. Mai/Athena/Yuri all day. The team order is also a pun, for those paying attention.

Elisabeth, shen woo, king, k' are amongst the easiest execution wise.

hmm..

I don't like the idea of dropping Terry, but if I found someone I like more than him I would. My mission is finding someone other than Yuri, or just maning (womaning?) up and playing her. easy execution you say? I'll be a loser and look into them. Though I can say K' is NOT easy. I have to do f.LK after my 236p to actually throw the fireball for god's sake! That is too much!

(last line was sarcasm)

Milln, I only edit posts to fix typos or add a line :P

Also, Athena yuri is legit, but I'll leave yours alone Duckie.

And I'll be downright amazed if you can get Tad to do a FT100 in P4U.

@combos vs. learning the game: dudes. This Doesn't even need to be a discussion. Fundamentals always win vs. only knowing combos from training mode. It is NEVER beneficial to focus on high damage crap when you're first starting a game and feeling out a game and your character(s) is not something that happens anywhere near quickly. You are always finding something new about a character, new combos included. Examples: Remember "Naimat Thanksgiving Special"? Tad ran a train on all of us because he already knew how to play from previous graemz. Remember "Happy Milln Year"? I got multiple OCV's because I knew what did what/ hit where, and Naimat was efficient as well.

All I'm saying is, if you don't know the mechanics, if you don't know your characters, to paraphrase Naimat, you're never going to get the solid hit you need, enough times. Learn the game when you're starting, don't learn combos when you're starting.

@Mai: I agree with Star, she's frame teapot with great far reaching normals and a good hit confirm to HD off of her kicks. She's good at getting back to a neutral positioning, which is where I feel she excels, kind of a mid screen lady.

@Guilty Gear: Tad if you desire to run it until further notice, it would be helpful to have your assistance.

@Ducksauce: I see what you did there. Make sure you create an orange outfit for them all.

@Papstr: Yuri, Ash, MAXIMA. Dude, even your opponent gets manlier while fighting against you. Meatball Sub the F out of peeps. Low execution, high meatball subs. And your team will have a sliding scale of manliness. Little girl > androgynous man > CHEST LASERS (of course Ash da bess)

@This Weekend: Yo, anyone coming to AnimeSoutheast?

@MONSOON STORMS: keep it comin'!

@Maxima: You have to yell MEATBALL SUB whenever you do a Vapor Cannon(qcb+punch) to get maximum enjoyment from him. Similar to playing Jin in Marvel 2, you gotta yell BLODIAAAA! When you super.

It's a little like how you have to say COME GET SOME every time you play Kim.

Or "Tasha get over here!" Or "Mai wouldn't mind a big soda!" whenever you select Shen.
