Jackie Chandler Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) My mission is finding someone other than Yuri, or just maning (womaning?) up and playing her. easy execution you say? I'll be a loser and look into them. But Yuri IS easy execution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynBJev_K7Oc EDIT: I keep getting PMs about the status of the Skullgirls videos from MWC. Get that ass in gear, Jackie... :p LOL, sorry. They're uploading now, again. My computer did an automatic update yesterday and I forgot to check to see how many matches uploaded. Looks like... Two. >_> Edited July 10, 2012 by Jackie Chandler

Milln Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Added in. Speaking of Mr. Karate, I forget if I already said this, I'm on my phone, but there were only two Mr. K's in Top 8, and no DLC characters or Kyo in winners, losers, or grand finals. Additionally, A Duo Lon and Chin won. Interesting facts to help the position of play who you like instead of who's "good" by popular opinion. My prediction is coming true. Mr. Karate is the new flavor of the month, just like Elizabeth and King were.

Milln Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 @Star. "I don't really have much to say." Wall'o'text. Yo, Volpe, did I do a good breakdown for you?
Urichinan Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I've decided on Mai, Elizabeth, Mature, Duo Lon, Kensou and Leona. They're the only characters who click with me. I'll probably be running a team of Mai/Elizabeth/Mature, but if you guys can think of a better setup using any of the characters above, I'd gladly try it out. (NOTE: Mai's gotta' be on the team. :p)
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) Reading/watching right now. I only saw the first couple rounds then I went back to looking at Faust stuff yesterday. Leona. Have fun. Edited July 10, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Milln Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Be open to switching your order around. No need to solidify yourself into a Day 1 order.
Papstr Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I'm probably just gonna man up and buy the flame iori DLC. I feel like Terry is some sorta FlameIori wannabe for me. probably going Kula Ash and Fiori, in some sort of random order.. maybe swap Kula for Yuri and put Ash first and AAAAAH so confusing
DaRabidDuckie Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 When you're ordering your characters, you have to consider meter usage. Put more meter heavy people in the back as anchor (that's why I keep Yuri in the back). Put people with easy bnbs or fast meter build in the front. Some people put their best characters in the middle, but I don't like that strat. Anchor = clutch for me. And Milln isn't kidding when he said you need good fundamentals for this game. Learn shorthops first and foremost in this game. Shorthop footsies/blockstrings = IMPERATIVE. Those lead to your hitconfirms and throw/roll mixups.
Papstr Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 And Milln isn't kidding when he said you need good fundamentals for this game. Learn shorthops first and foremost in this game. Shorthop footsies/blockstrings = IMPERATIVE. Those lead to your hitconfirms and throw/roll mixups. This this this. After EVO I've had massive inspiration to replay KOF. Coupled with my falling interest in League, its like the stars have aligned. I've been refamiliarizing (or learning for the first time? heh) myself with the stuff in this game. And short hops are insanely important. I find most of my time in training mode just hopping around trying to perfect it. So far I'm improving but still suck at it. It's a critical skill and what makes KOF so different/fun. Access to aerials low to the ground is so cool. Regarding team order: meter usage is important but theres also just preference. Everybody calls Ash a bad anchor even though I ran him anchor and it actually won me a few games early in the game's life. Of course now everybody is actually good, and I DID switch Ash's position but whatever lol
Grimstar Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 How for we run GG on a system that it's not yet released for? There will be multiple loaner sticks, no worries ho-sauce. cmon now old timer, we have backwards compatibility these days. But Phil says it may or may not lag on PS3.
DaRabidDuckie Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 cmon now old timer, we have backwards compatibility these days. But Phil says it may or may not lag on PS3. Last I checked, there's around 3 frames of buffering, which means 14-50 frames of input lag on hardware BC, more on software BC. Imagine jabbing ten times before the first one comes out. Yeah. PS2 or GTFO. So far I'm improving but still suck at it. It's a critical skill and what makes KOF so different/fun. Access to aerials low to the ground is so cool.I can short hop over 50 times in a row. :3 Can't BC cancel to save my life, but goddammit, I can short hop...

Milln Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Can't BC cancel to save my life, but goddammit, I can short hop... You in there. Ordering is complete preference. You can see it as the black and white of who uses meter more efficiently, or simply more consumption, or just do whatever the crap you want. I'm the crazy person that puts Kensou on anchor, soz. Let's see... I was doing Mature/Ash/Saiki for a bit, then Saiki/Ash/Mature, then did Mature/Ash/Saiki and switched up mid-tournament for Mature/Ash/Kensou, then Kensou/Ash/Mature next match. I ran Ash second because it wa a complete change of style from what my Mature was, so I used him as an efficient stopgap. Then I dumped Ash for... a lot of characters before settling on Duo Lon. I now run Mature/Duo Lon/Kensou (more or less) and enjoy it. I like KOF because of the flexibility and uniqueness of players. A character will play differently depending on where they're placed in a team. I fought Kinetik, who also uses Mature and puts her on anchor and ours are so, so different in how they act in a match. Duo Lon is usually regarded as a point character and just builds lots of meter for the second character, doing what work he can. And Kensou is definitely not considered a regular anchor and I get a few comments on how silly my team order is. But hey, it works, i'm comfortable with it, and that's what matters. I'm always open to switching and will always be trying out what might work a bit better.
LastStarSaviour Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I'd agree with this sentiment. After all, I often find myself wanting to put Mai on anchor, even though everyone constanly says she's a point character to build meter and what-not. I don't really think of her like that, especially after learning my 99% with her. I have no real team yet but she'll probably end up being anchor if I ever decide to play the game again. I think i've said this previously before but there is no black and white in this world, and the same could be said about fighting games. Do what comes naturally for you and everything will work out if it was meant to.
Seiki Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Uri, the order your team is in right now is really efficient meter wise. I advise that when you are playing casuals to place your second and third character on point in some matches so you know how to use them without meter as well. If you are on your last character and your opponent has all 3 left chances are by the time you get to the last character somewhere along the line you will run out of drive and meter. Not only does it change your options but also how your opponent interacts with you. For example, King's EX trap shot is a great anti-air and forces the opponent to stay grounded more making her fireball game even scarier since you can't just jump over her fireballs any way you want becaue you might land into ex trap shot, but without meter she can't really anti-air very well so the opponent can get more aggressive with hops and jumps and only worry about getting close.
Milln Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) GET TOGETHER NEWS: Milln Summer Fun-- July 16th Yo, guys, i'll be sliding back from AnimeSoutheast Sunday night, i've got to get a visitor on a plane at nine in the morning on Monday, after that i'm completely open availability. I've already recruited Jackie to come over and it's a big invitation to any and all who want to show up. Pretty much all day Monday for graemz, food, shenanigans and Adventures of the Lost Arby's. This would be a good get-together to hyperbolic time chamber some KOF13 and Guilty Gear, as well and just goof around in any other game(s) be they console, computer, or otherwise. We could even do a stream. Edited July 11, 2012 by Milln
Seiki Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I'll be there Milln! And I'll bring Tad's GG setup a ps2 controller and Tad's ps2 stick, if he doesn't mind. I'll play BB, UMVC3, KOFXIII, and GG.

I'll play BB, UMVC3, KOFXIII, and GG. No you can't use it. How fucking dare you use my shit to support our scene. Also, balls; in your mouth. I'll try to take the day off work for this. Klein, could you go too? Grimstar: Playing Gear with lag is like having sex with another guy's dick. Shit don't work. Uri: I look forward to playing some KoF with you, glad you are picking it up. I think it'll add to your universal skill, and you'll enjoy it too. Star: I've gotta stop doing drugs and drinking if I agreed to a FT 100 in P4U. I'm going to do it since I said I would, and I"ll enjoy it to boot. It'll likely be the first time I play it however, which will make it far more fun. I'll get with Phil and we'll make some plans for the GG RR Ranbats or whatever. I've got some good ideas already, and I'll be happy to do the bulk of the work. About time I earned my keep again, anyway. Edited July 11, 2012 by Alphakami
Milln Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Excellent. I posted on the SRK board in the TN Thread, too, so we might get some of those guys, too. Doro looks like he could come!
