So tired of Mitsuru's silly hitboxes. Why do I have to dodge not only her sword, but the air around it? Last I checked she didn't use wind. :@

"Oh, silly Volpe. Clearly, Mitsuru can use her ice to freeze the air AROUND her sword. Such a sophisticated manner of doing battle, huehuehuehue."

That would explain why her DP's hitbox is shaped like an ice cube.

I remember some anime, a Dude's special gimmick was making the air around his attacks just as lethal as the actual attacks due to the force put into it. I wanna say it was Yu Yu Hakusho because I love that anime.

Mitsuru clearly has this ability.

oh god no. . .

@Milln - That's why I said wind. Pretty sure the dude who did that used the wind off of his attacks as another weapon. I can't remember if it was Jin or not. edit: Nope. But I do remember it being from YYH too.

I wouldn't mind it if the damn hitbox wasn't invisible.

Under Night In-Birth has been vamped up a bit, and it seems like the mechanics and characters have been polished. Voices were added and we're apparently nearing a Japanese arcade release. Even if we don't get a US release, I'll gladly import multiple copies so we can run this shit.

In hopes of generating some interest, here are the redone character introductions:

Hyde - Main character/Ragna 2.0 status. (Jackie)

Yuzuriha - Iai striking dai-katana wielder with a projectile rejecting jacket. (Star)

Seth - Speedster knife dual-wielder. He lacks the raw speed, but his sheer maneuverability, mix-up, and oki game puts Yosuke to shame. (Me, Grimstar)

Merkava - Dhalsim bat demon thing. His reach is ridiculous, and he can fly.

Carmine - Set-up blood user. He sacrifices health to set up poison pools that damage you while you stand on them, and can be activated later as attacks.

Linne - She dual-wields a plank of metal and a combat knife, and a derpy little dragon follows her around. She's got short-ranged projectiles and a buster blade super.

Gordeau - Massive pocket-scythe wielder with pirate swag. (Woz)

Orie - Fencer with a Persona/Nirvana-like servitor. Possibly a charge character.

Vatista - Zoner loli. She looks like Mu-12 with Liz's lasers and Millia's orbs.

Waldstein - Grappler with deceptive hitboxes. (Astaroth)

There's also Hilda, a Mature-esque woman in a dress who zones like Lambda, but she doesn't have an introductory vid yet.

UNIB System mechanics anyone?:

Button Layout: A (weak) B (medium) C (Strong) D (Exist)

- Exist ( Meter that fills up to 200. It fills up on confirmed attacks, taking damage, and whiffed normals, and through Chain Shift. EXS also carries on to the next round)

- Grind (Each match begins with both players with 0 GRD. Everyone has six stocks of GRD that fills up overtime or they can fill up themselves in other

ways. With each new stock their defense/offense are increased. GRD is also slowly filled when your're attacking but decreases while your're being attacked. GRD does not carry onto the next round)

- Shield (A shield of energy appears in front of the character and it pushes the opponent back little by little with each blocked attack. It drains the EXS Gauge upon use however. Also, receiving a hit while shielding is active will result in your GRD being frozen for a set amount of time)

- Assault (A maneuver that is similar to a mini- hop or Instant Air Dash in other fighters. It's mainly used for pressure to stay on the opponent and cost 10 EXS. Each Assault maneuver is unique to every character)

- Concentration (Character becomes stationary and begins charging Exist gauge)

- Chain Shift (Chain Shift allows you to cancel the active/recovery frames of any blocked move to make yourself safe. This technique converts all of your GRD (no matter how much you have) into your EXS gauge. Each GRD stock is equal to about 10-15 EXS points)

- Veil off ( An activation state that's only available once you have 100 or more EXS. How long it lasts is proportionate to how much EXS you had when you activated it. At 200 EXS you are granted 5 in game seconds of Veil Off time. However it drains your EXS to 0 after the time limit is up)

- Grind Vorpal (Every 15 in game second the game gives a 20% damage increase bonus to whoever is in the lead of their GRD stocks. So within an entire match a GRD Vorpal bonus should happen about 6 times. But if both players have all 6 stocks (or an equal amount of GRD) of their GRD full, GRD Vorpal will not occur. It only activates when one player has more GRD than the other)

- Grind Encroach (If you are currently in a GRD Vorpal state and have 6 GRD stocks total, it is possible for your GRD to overlap onto your opponents stocks if they have less then 6 themselves. Your GRD will take up their area and limit how much they can increase during the duration of this feature. Wither you get offense/defense bonuses from stolen GRD areas is unclear)

@Tad: Glad to see you enjoyed your down-time

You know you like that one Nickelback song, don't lie.

Ah, well... you caught me. My personal favorite is "hit with Rocks!!" It was their best live show recording. Listen to this!

Waldstein - Grappler with deceptive hitboxes. Knock yourself out, Astaroth.

There's also Hilda, a Mature-esque woman in a dress who zones like Lambda, but she doesn't have an introductory vid yet.

Man, I said this before, but I'll say it again. Waldstein is the most unique grappler design in a loooong time. They changed up the grappler game of "inch in slowly" to "mix up your opponent from half screen." The drawback of course is that some of the moves may whiff against up-close rushers. I hope this releases in America. Looks fun.

System mechanics stuffs for UNIB

I'm half asleep, and I read all of that thinking "Why did they change Blazblue so much?!" Rofl

Hyde - Main character/Ragna 2.0 status. I can already see Jackie repping him.

Aw, come on guys. I don't play the main character/shoto in EVERY fighting game.

Like King of Figh-

Guilty Gea-

Blazbl-

Street Figh-

Perso-

Akats-

Braw-

... Okay, I'll probably end up playing Hyde. I'm with Volpe- I'll happily import the game if it's PS3-only (it probably will be), not region locked, and without a (reasonable?) American release date. Considering at least a couple of us have 360 -> PS3 converters, I don't think it'd be a problem as far as control schemes are concerned.
