Ok, here's how we'll do this. When you get the game, you are not allowed to play it until you play me. The first you play the game will be versus mode with me. If you can get better than 20 percent of the wins in however many we play, I'll buy the game, I'll main whoever you decide I should main, and I'll do exactly what you tell me to do in regards to this game. I'll be your bitch. If you get 50 percent or better, I'll even let you put me on a choke-leash so you can deal out punishment when I'm not doing it right. What do I get if I loose? Nothing, because I"m the furthest thing from free you know. <3 and homo, of course.

@Star in the interview matchup. Seriously, don't be nervous. Get rid of that shit. Nervous never helps you accomplish anything. It only aides in poor decisions. You'll be there, you'll go thru the interview, and you'll either get the job or you won't. This is inevitable. Your nervous feeling of wanting to perform well will only hold you back in this (and most) instances. Best of luck homie.

I don't know why I said it like that, i just felt like talkin' shit. i don't think you're free. but you're on, we'll do this dance. i hope you're ready to play linne or gordeau for the rest of your days

There was literally no venom in my shit talk reply, just so you know. If we are gonna do this I'll come up to play you almost immediately upon release, I wouldn't want to keep you waiting. You did get me hyped enough to at least try the game. Good show young chap. I haven't looked at any vids or screens, so I have no idea what the fuck a gordeau or linne is.

I should also mention that my roomates hate SC5 for some dumb reason and play SC4 instead.

Ugh, I hate people that do that. The Soul Calibur community always complain that "it's not SC2," like they had expected. SC5 is surprisingly balanced, with the only exception being Viola's back grab infinite. If you're playing SC4, Hilde and Algol are SSSS tier. lol

Something I can see becoming prominent in UNIB is Chain Shift confirming. In case you guys don't already know what it is, "Chain Shift" is the mechanic in which you convert Grind (or GRD- that tug-of-war bar at the bottom that increases your offense/defense for each stock) into Exist (or EXS- the game's meter system). You can use it at any point after you get a GRD Vorpal (which you get for having more GRD than your opponent at 15-second intervals), and you get about 12 meter per stock. What you lose from this is GRD Vorpal bonus damage, which is apparently a 20% damage boost (not sure if they stack or not), and obviously your GRD stocks, which makes it easier for your opponent to get GRD Vorpal next.

What you gain, however, is a crap ton of meter to use, a second or two to confirm what your opponent is doing, and/or what's essentially a Rapid Cancel on a blocked/whiffed move. Think X-Factor activation, except without the bullshit. I've seen characters activate Chain Shift, see that their opponent is using a move of some sort, then activate an invincible super as soon as they come out of the Super Flash (which seems to be completely safe). What I'm not sure of is if it works as a Rapid Cancel on hit (what I've read on it only makes mention of blocked/whiffed moves). That said, I don't think it'd be difficult to whiff a 5A or something during a combo just so you can activate it if it turns out it doesn't work with on hit moves- but that seems like way too easy of a workaround even if it does turn out to be the case.

Personally I think its the worst.

^

SCIII is still my favorite though, since I played it for years when I was a little kid. I spent hours and hours and hours making characters and playing Chronicles of the Sword. That and Tira's costumes were amazing in 3.

For me it's:

3

5

2

1

4

I never played 2 much, and when I did I didn't understand it, so I can't really say how good I thought it was. But I know it was super legit. The only thing I HATE, and I mean DESPISE about 5 is that my beloved Seong Mi-Na isn't in it.

Posted

The only people who should hate on SC5 is people who played Yun Seong, Zalsalamel, and Talim. Not even Seong Mi-Na or Kilik players should bitch, atleast you got the bastard child of the two.

WHY ISN'T YUN SEONG IN THE GAME?!!! WHY?!!!!!!!!

Dude holy shit high five. SC5 is balanced compettitively, and thats awesome, but none of them match 3's variety and replayability.

When's the next one of these, I want to show up and play Persona :3

Wow I think in BBCP they are remixing everyone's themes cause in that vid Jackie posted you can hear Jin's theme and it has a more violin thing going than a piano thing. and in the Bang forum someone said that Bang's theme got remixed. That's awesome I was getting tired of the old themes.

There was a Famitsu interview in which Mori said everyone's themes and the SFX were getting reworks. He also said that he really liked Motor Head's new version, or something to that extent.

I'm not sure how aerial 360's are gonna work out. Instant jump airgrab is still faster, atomic collider is still a decent anti-air, and I'm assuming 2C will still be viable. What role then does an air 360 have?

I'm far more interested in the other new moves that were shown in that vid. One stunned the opponent, and another one shot down the opponent from the air as a hard knockdown.

I could tell, I just wanted to make sure it was clear that it was the same with mine. I was in a strange place when I posted, and over-analyzing people's perception of me is one of my weaknesses. But it sounds great, we can maybe make a bit of an MTN event of it. Drinks, games, n maybe some BBQ.

@ all of ya - I think I've been coming across as whiney, and I realized I need to stop sweating the small shit. I may bitch and groan, but I never really have as big a problem with things as it might seem when I'm talking about how frustrating something is. I don't mean to be confrontational, but I usually walk away from our discussions knowing more than I did before. Even if no one else has information to share, simply discussing it gets my mind flowing so I can look at a situation from a fresh perspective. We're a family, yo. We might piss each other off, we might not be able to understand what the fuck we're thinking, and we might not always see eye to eye. But y'all's my nigz. <3

@Tager Air Driver, I can already see 5A tech trap usage. Also, if you can purple grab combo it, I can think of other places I'd use it or get hit with it.

@Star How do you feel about the interview?

If I took the internet seriously, I would have punched most of you in the face IRL already. We good man, always will be. Cocaine is a helluva drug.

The move that stunned the opponent was Tager's Crush Trigger. I honestly don't know a lot of details about it, except for the fact that everyone's seems to be unique, and that it *might* be a universal overhead for the cast. I found it interesting that Tager was able to combo Crush Trigger -> Forward Jump -> land 360, and the combo wasn't techable. That might mean that command grabs mid-combo (or at least off certain moves) aren't techable any more in CP. I'll be interested in finding more details about that.

As for the aerial 360, Tad raises a good point. If someone notices you 5A them, their first instinct is probably going to be to jump to avoid the tick throw. But if you "TK" the 360 (not really sure the term TK applies since it's a 360, haha), you can essentially frame trap them for trying to jump out of it. Atomic Collider is probably still good for a situation like that, but looking at how different it is in that loketest video, you might be able to get better damage and some invincibility with the air 360. Speaking of which, air 360s are going to make your opponent think twice about always trying to catch Tager in the air. Assuming it has invincibility like the grounded A version does, I can see attempts to air grab Tager or apply pressure on the way down being thwarted by it. Just the presence of it is going to change how people both play AND fight Tager.

I think it can be used to catch multi-directional techs in certain situations. The move should auto-correct, making TKing it nasty, and if it pulls when magnetized, then oh shit, the potential application could give Tager legit air oki in a game that's not supposed to have it.

What the fuck am I doing, talking theory on a loke test.

@Tad: I think it went well (No I don't). The only thing I think I screwed up with was that I didn't have enough questions. I asked about 5 or so but I felt like I should've been blasting him with more throughout the course of the interview as a whole. I wish you all could've saw me this morning. Drinking coffee and trying to put on a tie, that shit was a train wreck, lol.

Either ways, after coming home I needed to unstress, and what better way to do that than to do some P4U grinding. Unfortunately, i'm tired of fighting net-play. Need real people to stab in the face.

Also, theory fighter isn't a bad thing. It keeps things hype and unpredictable for when the game finally comes out. After all, when Extend came out, me and a few other Noels were theory fighting about her not having damage. Now we can get 9.6K off of Fatal counter 4Ds, imagine that.

@Jackie: That sounds horrible.

Edit: Tad, we need to get together and have some BB/P4U casuals. I probably won't be able to make it to the next tournament so imma need to get my high-level play fix somehow.

I like theory talk because it gets your mind flowing similar to discussing tactics and match-ups in a game you actually can play. Me and Naimat had that discussion and while I carried myself like a dumbass, it turned out that Elizabeth's playstyle was similar to what I was predicting, but with slight restrictions. Naimat reminded me I couldn't jump the gun, and it turned out she wasn't exactly how I thought she'd be - but at the same time I had a good idea of how to start playing her when I finally got my hands on the game. Just my two cents.

Also, maybe we can make a bit of an MTN event of me and Tad's little faceoff. Drinks, games, n maybe some BBQ.

I'm now imagining ending a combo in the air while magnetized, Tager teching in the air before I hit the ground, then him being like "LOL you touch the ground when I say so noob" and Attraction'ing me back up into his aerial 360. I'm terrified. But not more terrified than Arakune's new Astral, which is described by one of the members here as:

"Opponent is trapped in a spider web that covers the whole screen, then eyes appears, from those eyes black spiders start to crawl out all over the screen... until everything is black. Astral Finish! and a rain of blood continues until the screen fades."
