Grimstar Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Milln are you going to Khaos Theory Friday night? Is anyone else? Also if I don't respond to this, text me because I forgot this place exists again temporarily <_>
tret_tree Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I hope I'm able to attend this weekend. Sid's bug might be full again. But yeah, I hope Sid can drive again this weekend. We've got six people in the group who want to go, and I can only (lawfully) seat four in my car. If there were justice in the world it wouldn't be legal to make a four-seated car that goshdarn small. :P I kinda hope something else happens, like the acquisition of a bigger vehicle, or the sudden legalization of strapping competitive players to the roof. One car and a half out of Cookeville seems silly, though I won't complain too much if I'm still needed to drive. I'm really looking forward to this weekend, particularly in regards to playing casuals with people to clear up some gray area that has developed with Robot. While everything's steadily getting better, I find that I have an often stale mixup (though his is really simple anyway), my pressure is inconsistent, and I sometimes push some really matchup-unfriendly buttons in neutral. 2K is just not good vs Order Sol, lol. Also, vanilla Sol's 2D eats me alive if I try to beat it with anything. :C
LastStarSaviour Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 >Plays Mitsuru >Claiming ANY character in Guilty Gear is auto-pilot/brain dead For real bro? Talent is nothing more than a buzzword thrown around when someone becomes proficiently skilled at something quickly. It just dictates how much work and dedication you'll have to put in, not whether it's possible to reach the end result (i.e., being highly skilled). If anyone grinds hard enough at any skill, they'll be able to accomplish it. Whether it takes 5 minutes or 5 years is the difference of "talent." Except for the part where I never called anyone in Gear brain-dead. Wow i'm so fucking tired of having to repeat myself. Also, seriously dude, are you really going to just deny people who have talent like that? Just wow.
Astaroth136 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Astaroth won't be there Saturday. Gotta funeral to attend.

Volpe-de-Glacio Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Astaroth won't be there Saturday. Gotta funeral to attend. I'm sorry to hear that, man. >Plays Mitsuru >Claiming ANY character in Guilty Gear is auto-pilot/brain dead For real bro? >arguing against something you disagree with >by doing the exact same thing Mitsuru vs. Elizabeth is apparently 7-3, right? I invite anyone calling Mitsuru brain dead to come FT10 my Liz and see how that works out for you. I don't think Star is calling Gear or Millia brain dead, just unreactable 50/50 mix up situations, which he finds even more annoying at Gear speeds. This is why I started the yomi discussion. If anyone grinds hard enough at any skill, they'll be able to accomplish it. Whether it takes 5 minutes or 5 years is the difference of "talent." I think this is the definition of talent. I'm just of the (apparently wildly unpopular) opinion that it doesn't work the same for yomi, as it isn't a skill one can simply grind. Maybe you can, maybe you can't. That's what I'm working to find out on my own. You can put forth as many counter-examples of you training yours as much as you want, but right now all it tells me is that you have the potential to level up to that extent. And for anyone thinking this debate is somehow inappropriate and should stop - a good argument is entirely healthy as long as you don't let it get personal. Avoiding conflict never resolved anything. Also if I don't respond to this, text me because I forgot this place exists again temporarily <_> Yes, I am. I'll be bringing Klein with me and maybe a couple others such as Mellis or the Cookeville crowd will show up. I hope they do. I'll house them if they do. I don't see a reason why not. Less of an early wake-up for them in the morning. I bet Jackie's car has a trunk. =O It does! Astaroth won't be there Saturday. Gotta funeral to attend. We understand. Keep it truckin'. I don't think Star is calling Gear or Millia brain dead, just unreactable 50/50 mix up situations, which he finds even more annoying at Gear speeds. This is why I started the yomi discussion. And for anyone thinking this debate is somehow inappropriate and should stop - a good argument is entirely healthy as long as you don't let it get personal. Avoiding conflict never resolved anything. I didn't say stop. I said move the mixups/50-50/unreactable discussion to a different medium that would be more appropriate for a back and forth. Everyone is either misunderstanding or ignoring the other party and this is obnoxious. About Yomi, though. If it's something you can't train but you have a heretofore unknown limit, well how do you know you hit that limit or when you're simply at a block? And how much of it is Fire Emblem-style levelups?

I can't remember where Klein is relative to me, but would you mind picking me up, too? I -might- have a ride to Star's Friday, but that's a big maybe. I didn't say stop. I said move the mixups/50-50/unreactable discussion to a different medium that would be more appropriate for a back and forth. Everyone is either misunderstanding or ignoring the other party and this is obnoxious. I don't think anyone's that determined to continue the discussion, but I feel you. On that note. . . If you want to talk about this in person Volpe I'd rather do it like that. Too much is being misunderstood or misrepresented in writing. We are just going round and round in circles. Yeah. About Yomi, though. If it's something you can't train but you have a heretofore unknown limit, well how do you know you hit that limit or when you're simply at a block? And how much of it is Fire Emblem-style levelups? That's why I say it's something I'm continually working on. If I thought it was 100% undeniable fact I'd've quit fighting games by now, because I feel like I've either hit a massive wall or reached my potential. I feel like there's something that's glaringly obvious to other people that constantly eludes me.
Milln Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 I can't remember where Klein is relative to me, but would you mind picking me up, too? I -might- have a ride to Star's Friday, but that's a big maybe. You are far northwest. Klein is south of Nashville. Murfreesboro(where I live) is southeast. Picking both of you up is a total 3 hours on the road. I don't necessarily have the funds to sate my car's thirst for gasoline going forward if I do and you have my apologies. I really, really hope your ride pulls through because I want you there.

ZomB Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Improving at fg comes in big leaps and bounds honestly. Break your seals~ And I'd play.a Mitsuru vs Liz MM if you like. Mits is pretty easy but she's not entirely braindead... that matchup is really dumb though.

Mits is pretty easy but she's not entirely braindead... that matchup is really dumb though. I'd say it's really 6-4. I'm echoing Spacebace, but I can really see it when he fights Star. I'm not as good at picking up random hit-confirms and turning them into retarded maximum damage, but if I was I feel like I'd win against Mitsuru a lot more. I'd take you up on this if I wasn't broke. We can do a $1 match? Go EC up in this, lolz.
Klein Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Improving at fg comes in big leaps and bounds honestly. Break your seals~ I agree with this entirely. Nowadays it's a slow process of just refining my basics, but most of my big learning has been in total spikes of "holy shit, this is what I've been doing wrong, and I got it!"
Thackston Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I can't come this weekend, have to work an event for a massive amount of my grade for one of my classes. Also for the record, I don't mind picking Klien up when I am coming to the boro, he is right on the way for me. So for the future just let me know if thats cool. Love you guys <3
LastStarSaviour Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Mitsuru isn't much easier or harder to play than any other character in the game. Her meta is a bit too easy to grasp but she still has to play match-ups really well if you even want to begin to be proficient with her. As much as people try to say "oh well, she gets away with a lot" she gets blown up by players with just solid fundamentals and who know when to block at the right times and when to disrespect at the right times. Get her blocking and bait the DPs well, and fighting her shouldn't be that big of a deal, is what i'd like to say except for the fact that she has droit...that move needs to be removed from the fucking game. I'd still much rather play Chie if we're going to call characters easy-mode though. If I had most of the options that chick had...holy fuck i'd be a god!
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Yo. . . Makishima Shogo is officially the most godlike villain in this generation of anime. Edited February 14, 2013 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Klein Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Yo Milln, what was that electroswing band you showed me last time you picked me up? I keep forgetting to ask for the name.
