Top_Cat Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! I'm sorry I didn't make it to Milln's place Tuesday night. Special shoutout to Naimat reaching out and trying to give me a ride there. Our community has some of the greatest people. Anyway, I went to a friend's place and got extremely intoxicated for the first time ever (which was his and his girlfriend's goal). Had some fun in beer pong, judged a twerking contest and might've even twerked a little myself, grabbed and ate a chicken finger that had just been taken out of the oven, and finally, was forced out of my friend's bed before anyone was in it and was yelling, "It's so comfortable. NOOOO!" The hangover wasn't fun, but at least there was no vomiting. Tad and Phil would've been proud of my intake that night. You would have gotten to see meeeeeeee. It's been too long.
Milln Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 MAKE SURE YOU ALL PRE-REGISTER FOR KUMITE. IT MAKES SENSE AND YOU SAVE MONEY.
Anne Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 So, what's going on for Final Round? Kinda wanna start getting plans together so I can look at money, rides, where we're staying, etc.
Astaroth136 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I'll be at Final Round, of course. I've got my own ride, and my family is making a vacation out of it again, so my room is full. We'll all hang out though.
Klein Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I want first dibs on a seat in Milln's car, as usual.
Alphakami Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Astaroth, I is proud! Steam is thaddag I've almost confirmed KiT, finally. Final Round is a bit uncertain. Seattle was the shit! Happy New Year!
Anne Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Hey guys, I need +R and BBCP set ups on Friday, who can help us out on that? I have a set up that has both on it. Edit: I should probably mention this is for KiT Edited January 7, 2014 by AnneIFrank
Milln Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 I also need Persona setups contributed, please. If I can find my Persona disc, that'll be one, but I need way more. I have a BBCP setup, but no +R. 2 BBCP 1 +R
Alphakami Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I'm not sure I can make it Friday, but I have +R and CP minus the Terumi and Kokonoe. I'll make sure to give my setup to Klein if he's going to be there Friday and I can't make it.
GhabStopR423 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Looking forward to KiT, hopefully I'll have my BB game up to snuff in time.
Milln Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Here, I shall help you all learn how to do circle mathematics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40EUEHEl0A0&noredirect=1

Klein Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Oh whoops, I'm late to say I have a setup with BB and +R on it
Milln Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming Monthly Plans After much pondering and mulling over of the situations and the myriad games we want to play, a few changes shall be made for 2014 and the future. 1) There will be a venue fee. 1a) The fee will be fifteen(15) dollars. 2) There will be no entry fee for tournament games. All games are free to play 2a) There will be a grand prize for first place only unless I or another player is feeling whimsically generous. This prize will be something picked out by Milln out of his own pocket. 2b) The grand prize will never be money. 2c) The grand prize will be unknown until presented to the winner. 3) The games that we decide to run that particular month will be decided by a sliding vote on site. 3a) Games will be nominated in. No game will be turned away if someone declares it. You may nominate more than once. 3b) Everyone in attendance must vote once. Voting does not place you in the bracket. Registration will be collected upon completion. 3c) Game with the most votes is decided upon and added to a list. 3d) Another voting round will take place using the remaining nominations. This will continue until an undetermined maximum number of games is reached. 3e) Milln will make the decision in case of a tie. 4) Brackets will be displayed outward facing, by attaching a monitor and mirroring the computer screen. In progress matches will be highlighted. 4a) This is so players can know where in the bracket we are and approximately how long you may have to wait till next match. 4b) There will also be a timer program displayed. 180 seconds after a match is called, the player that has not approached the designated setup will be given a loss. 5) Going forward, all MTNG's will have an "Obscure Game" slot. 5a) The inaugural game will be Nidhogg. This is non-negotiable. 5b) The "Obscure Game" slot will have a typically cooler prize than the other games as incentive to play. 5c) Future events will see a forum nomination for the title to occupy this slot. This is to allow necessary preparations to happen. 5d) "Obscure Game" slot is not relegated to actually obscure games. 5e) Games that one would imagine being here may be nominated for other slots. 6) All of the above are subject to change. 6a) If a change is made, a post will be made to alert the community. 6b) Please Observe The First Post
Jackie Chandler Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 These new rules are hype. Props to Milln for making many of the community's hopes and dreams come together, and for making an affordable tournament experience for just about everyone. 3) The games that we decide to run that particular month will be decided by a sliding vote on site. This is the only thing I have any qualm about. To clarify, this means that the games we play will be decided at the venue the day of the tournament - not on the website (i.e. Dustloop) like I originally interpreted it to be. Personally, I'd like to suggest that attendees vote on the games here in the thread in advance, as to be able to determine whether they want to attend or not. Nobody wants to pay money to drive out to a tournament full of games they don't want to play, and this would be a way of preventing that. But to make that happen, we need to establish that the thread can be active, that there are people who would support this kind of change, and that those people would vote for games at the appropriate times. If you'd like for Milln to consider changing the format to website voting to determine what games are played, you need to say so now and help keep this thread active. If you'd rather not, that's fine, too - but either way, let's make this one a great year for MTNG.

It's as Jackie says. Show me this thread is bustling with the life it has shown to have, and the voting format will move to polls on here.
Top_Cat Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I agree with Jackie that voting here rather than on site would be better.
Klein Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm down for voting here. I made the same assumption Jackie did.
Milln Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Okay so that's 3 outta... Like 12+. The first things we need to figure out is planning for the next 3 months. January is obviously Kumite. If you haven't pre-registered, it's really in your best interest to do so. Pre-reg closes the 17th. SAVE twenty dollars and pre-reg. February is a discussion. We can go up to BADC, do an MTNG, or both. I am not opposed to both. However, we need to decide on what we're going to do. I can probably actually go to BADC this time. March is Final Round, I think everyone is excited and eager to go this year. Doing things a little different this time. Eshi has been very kind to us in previous years and I thank him and Peter for opening their home to us. This year, I want to be on site and lolligag a lot more as I'm sure you guys might, as well. I want to get a hotel room. Of course, I'll front the cost, and I would appreciate any amount that can be contributed to it. The future is open. Is PowerUp still in April?
Alphakami Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm down for voting here. Excellent work Milln-dono! I think PowerUp is defunct.
tret_tree Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 It might be too late to plan for January, but I think it'd be cool, if it's feasible, to have a regular monthly even when there is a major in the same month. That way, if, for whatever reason, not everybody can make it to Kumite AND BADC AND Final Round, they at least have a thing closer to home that's potentially easier to go to. More community face-to-face time that way, and we get an option to play in a tournament environment without shelling out a bunch of dough to go out of state. I dunno what previous reasoning has been, or how that messes with schedules, though. Attendance might be low in a month with a popular tournament, though I wouldn't mind showing up just to hang out with a couple of you. <3
Eireprince Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I am definitely on board with voting here instead. It kind of helps me decide if I have the money to justify going. As for Majors like powerup and stuff. I wouldn't be able to do both, but if both were an option I would be willing to go to one or the other.
GhabStopR423 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm registered for KiT and almost certainly going to Final Round unless something pops up. Where exactly do you hold these MTNG tourneys outside of majors? I'd love to come out for some BBCP and some other stuff if my schedule allows and could hopefully get some other Chattanooga area players out as well. BBCP has caught on surprisingly pretty well locally and it's been the first time in ages that we get consistent weekly turnouts, so I'm hoping we can continue to keep it up and try to possibly get some of our players to branch out and play in other areas for some matchup experience. I could certainly use it for sure. Voting here on the site seems to make the most sense imo, especially for people who have a bit of a drive to come out.
Milln Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 We historically hold our MTNG events at Game Galaxy arcade in Antioch. Glad you all feel this way about voting on site. Now maintain your decision and we'll be fine. Astaroth and Jackie: looks like Big E just banned Cronus devices from his events and Final Round also nixed them last year. This'll probably continue to trend, so it seems you will need a different conversion solution.
