KOkingpin Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Chandler - as soon as you post Loser's Finals and Grand Finals I want to see them. Papstr - even though I act like I hate you sometimes I don't really hate you its just fun picking on you. You pick back and that makes it more fun. You know you are a bro. Lee - You know how I feel. Beast mode. Milln - Stop playing league I can hear you. Patty - I need to coach harder next time.
Jackie Chandler Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Hey guys, sorry for the late shoutouts. I've been gone most of the day. Milln- It's just understood that your tournaments are always going to be of the highest quality. Thanks for keeping the community together, and thanks for pushing me to play Vampire Savior so much. I'm really glad I did. If you'd be cool with it, I'd see about finding a copy for a casual setup. Not enough of the MTN community gave it a chance yesterday. :/ Astaroth: Congrats on getting first in Marvel again. I don't think any of us were disappointed (or surprised for that matter, haha). :P Be sure to practice that Extend Tager when it comes out. I really think it'll revive your interest in the game. He's so much more fun now. K.O.: It was cool seeing you yesterday, I'm glad you make it a point to come and hang out with us even when you don't compete. :] Also, post Steak 'n Shake was HILARIOUS. You were ripping on Papstr so hard. It was amazing. XD Klein: You and your beard are as manly as ever. I felt like we hung out a lot yesterday, but that we didn't really talk all that much. Sorry if you feel the same way. I'll make up for it next time. D: But anyway, that Hakumen 4C change is going to make a difference, you'll see! Looking forward to seeing what you can do in Extend. :] Kriss- Hnnnnnnnng that jacket. That apparently doesn't exist or whatever. I'm terrible at detecting sarcasm. MIIIIIIIIND FUUUUUUUUCK. XD Hope you keep coming out to these things, man. Kyle and the Ohio crew: YOU ARE FUCKING AWESOME. Driving out who-knows-how-many-hours, bringing some great competition, taking first in KoF, competing in Extend 3v3s like a boss, and showing everybody how insanely legit Vampire Savior is? My mind is still melting. But seriously, thanks so much for participating, and thanks for going out of your way to introduce and explain Vampire Savior to me. That game is so much fun, and I sincerely hope it gets revived. I already mentioned to Milln my interest in having a casuals setup for it so people can get into it next MTN. :D If I don't see you before then, I'll be looking forward to competing with you again at Powerup! Naimat: WTF. How are you so good at Extend already? I mean... It took me a little bit to adjust to Ragna's changes (which are like, nothing), but you picked the changed Bang up yesterday and made him look easy (partial trolololol). Really though, I hope your interest in Extend stays alive. I'm really anxious to play you on Live when it comes out here in the states. :] P.S. Don't forget you owe me that $15. XD Papstr: I know you're kind of obligated to, but thanks for riding up/down from MTN with meh. It's really nice having someone to talk with on the way, and you're a cool guy to talk with in general. Sorry again for bringing up the Steak 'n Shake thing, but the opportunity was too golden. I couldn't resist. XD I need to stop being so busy so we can hang out more. I'm looking forward to getting better at KoF so I can finally deal with Gui- I mean Ash appropriately, haha. Star: FFFFFFFFF you're legit at Extend already. Congrats on winning the 3v3 thing- I'm going to have to practice hard to get my runback in the next tourney. :P And I don't want to start anything, but try to take things a little less seriously, man. Things like this are about having fun, and nobody's out to get you. Tad: Nothing could ever jeopardize your bawsliness. I'm sad we didn't talk/play each other more, but the time we messed around in Vampire Savior was a ton of fun. Hope to play you in other things soon, and if you can make it, I'll be seeing you at Final Round. :D Volpe: Sorry man, I didn't get KoF casuals in with ANYONE. :< I'll make time for it next time, though. I've still got a lot of leveling up to do in that game. :P Azure / Cyner / Doromac / Falcon / Grimstar / Justin / Midnight / Pickle / Zeno: You had to be there. /guilttripestablished Anyone else: If I derped and forgot you, lemme know. I'll give a shoutout on a message of its own. :3
Papstr Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 OH BY THE WAY JACKIE I left that bag of stuff my mom gave me, in the trunk of your car. Can you bring it to me asap?
Actionhank Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 It was nice meeting everyone. Glad you have a lot of players interested in KOF! Next time Kyle plans on coming down I'll be sure to accompany him, the road trip was a good time. Shoutouts to Andrew keeping me on edge in KOF, your Duo Lon and Saeki were doing work. UmadAstaroth is a beast, your Hulk is so scary. 1 throw and done, ugh I didn't know what to do! Good shit man, see you at Final Round. Finally, yes PLAY VAMPIRE SAVIOR. Seriously go download final burn alpha and start playing, its a good game. Almost forgot, nice seeing you again Tad, Q Bee mirrors were a ton of fun and it was good kicking it with you all weekend.
Astaroth136 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Quick shoutouts since I'm too tired. Milln - Another great tournament, as usual. Thanks for taking me home so I could enjoy Steak n Shake antics. KO - Always fun hanging out with you and listening to your crazy stories. Your commentary is pretty good too, considering you don't even play the game. Chandler - Thank you for recording matches and commentary stuff. For the first time EVER, my true skills with Hulk were shown and recorded. Usually, my Hulk gets blown up when it's recorded. Papstr - You waited so patiently for that milkshake. LOL Usually, we poke fun at Chandler and his awkwardness, but he somehow diverted the attention to you after we ate. It was all in good fun though. Naimat - Glad you could make it, even though you were late as all hell. Your Bang was somehow legit in Extend... Laststar Kingston - I can't believe Sean Kingston was randomly brought up. I wasn't lying when I said I had made that connection just a few nights ago. He was on tv, and my brain said, "Hey, that's Star." lololol On a serious note, good stuff in Extend. Volpe - Stupid Hakumen 4C charge shenanigans. I had never even seen that move until you were flying fullscreen with it. GGs. Tad - You better be at Final Round. I think I'll play fine with that old PS2 pad, and thanks for letting me borrow it. Kyle + Ohio crew - We are very grateful for having you all come down and play fightin' games. Vampire is so legit and hype. It looks like every character can win (which is always good). Special shoutout to ActionHank and Neon Geon for giving me a run for my money in Marvel. Hope you all had a blast.
Astaroth136 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Chandler, we've had discussions on awkwardness. This video was hilarious to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lItkr3MR1I4&list=FLKaDakZgmEGXDo7y3HBIKCA&index=18&feature=plpp_video
Klein Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Shoutouts! As always, shoutouts to Milln for putting together a sweet tournament, I had fun flash kicking before getting bodied 0-2 (which is what I was expecting). Shoutouts to Tad for bringing me out to see the Ohio guys and playing some sweet games of GG and VS, that Testament keeps me honest, which was a lot of fun. Shoutouts to all the Ohio dudes for coming out, it was a lot of fun hanging out with you guys. Maybe next time I'll play some more VS instead of getting hypnotized by the GGXXAC setup. And Mark, you were right about it being a shame we didn't play much, next time we gotta play some more BB since the Rachel matchup is a lot of fun, and you've got a respectable Rachel to match up against. Again, GGs to you all. Shoutouts to Papster for being a FLASH KICK and SONIC BOOM mashing bro, and for awkwardly hilarious moments at Steak n' Shake. Shoutouts to Naimat for disrespecting my stick while playing on it, fggt. Just kidding dude, but sometime I'm gonna have to beat you with that stick just to show that electric tape+hot glue is a legit cord fix. Shoutouts to Jackie for dropping 4$ on a power strip instead of letting Papstr take five seconds to fix his xbox. And all that stuff like being a cool dude, and recording, but you know. Shoutouts to Star for forever beating me with Noel... ONE OF THESE DAYS I'LL PRACTICE AND LEARN THAT MATCHUP, ONE OF THESE DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS. Shoutouts to Astaroth for always making MvC awesome to me for a day, 'DAT HULK. Shoutouts to Volpe for representing 4c the character accurately, it's always nice to see successful use of the giant popsicle stick. Shoutouts to the two guys who bodied me in KoF, sorry I didn't get your names, but GGs guys. And shoutouts to Middy for not showing up, why ya gotta get sick like that?
LastStarSaviour Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Yo Jackie, i've been searching around the web a bit and i've found CS2 tiers lists everywhere. So far, every one of these lists point to the same conclusion so take it as you will. BBCS2 Tier List: S: Makoto A: Noel, Hazama, Jin, Litchi, Valkenhayn, Carl, Rachel, Taokaka B: Tsubaki, Mu, Platinum, Hakumen, Lambda, Arakune, Ragna, Bang C: Tager - Source - Source - Source Edited January 30, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Jackie Chandler Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Chandler, we've had discussions on awkwardness. This video was hilarious to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lItkr3MR1I4&list=FLKaDakZgmEGXDo7y3HBIKCA&index=18&feature=plpp_video Oh god. So hilariously uncomfortable. XD Shoutouts to Jackie for dropping 4$ on a power strip instead of letting Papstr take five seconds to fix his xbox. And all that stuff like being a cool dude, and recording, but you know. I actually didn't have to buy one. Milln/Richard found one we could use. Yo Jackie, i've been searching around the web a bit and i've found CS2 tiers lists everywhere. So far, every one of these lists point to the same conclusion so take it as you will. BBCS2 Tier List: S: Makoto A: Noel, Hazama, Jin, Litchi, Valkenhayn, Carl, Rachel, Taokaka B: Tsubaki, Mu, Platinum, Hakumen, Lambda, Arakune, Ragna, Bang C: Tager - Source - Source - Source Star, those are all the same source. GameFAQs and Gamespot forums are identical in content, and the posts there and on Blazblue.com mention the July issue of Arcadia Monthly as the reference. Besides, CSII still had half a year left in its life span when that article was written. I seriously don't believe Makoto was up in S Tier by herself. Anyone else care to chime in?
LastStarSaviour Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 That is the last and most recent tier list to date, So unless you can find any closer to now that's currently the best (I found more websites but I saw no reason to add more since they all pointed to the same list and Arcadia is the most accurate). Again, it's not that the other characters weren't good enough to be S-tier, it's just that Makoto was so damned broken that she re-created what S-tier was in the game. She had an answer for every occasion, her damage was just ridiculous, once you got hit in the corner it was game-over (her orb oki made sure of this). She's just a flawless character. While the rest of the former S were indeed powerful they all had current things that made them easy to fight against. Noel's drive is hella easy to bait and punish (especially for Rags), Jin had no mix-up which made opening people up a bit of a pain (not really if you ask me), and Hazama can be mashed out of a lot of his block strings (there are few that are actually safe with him).
Seiki Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I agree Makoto is S tier but I think Star is exaggerating her strengths and the other top characters' weaknesses. She isn't as godly as Star puts it but she is S tier. That being said, Of the characters listed under A tier both Hazama and Tao deserve to be in S tier because those two characters have all the tools and variety needed to continue being dynamic throughout the game's life where other characters' metagames become stale. If you gave this game the same lifespan as MvC2 to develop Tao and Haz would be on the top. When Makoto hits she hits you hard. That's true, however, she does lack range. Her normals are very good but they all lack the range most other characters' have on their normals. She lacks options in terms of mobility. Her only three ways of approach is dash, airdash, and jump. Astral vision doesn't count because you get hit out of it easy. Some of the cast can take advantage of these two aspects and use their mid range spacing tools i.e. Jin j.C, Ragna 5B, etc. In the corner though, she does become the exceptional god of bb and her combos all put you in the corner, but in the neutral game she does have the weaknesses stated above. Hazama has some of the best blockstrings in the game, especially since he has the most jump cancelable normals. Not to mention the overhead follow up on serpent's benediction is like -2 or -3 on block. You press a button he will counter hit you with his jab. Tao is a whiff punishing god. and when you decide to stop pressing buttons and block she has some of the best mix-ups. It's not as obvious that tao and haz are worthy of S-tier as Makoto because only a handful of players can fully take advantage of all of their tools. While Makoto's learning curve is relatively low. Oh yeah, and her damage and corner oki isn't something that "re-created S-tier"...did you forget about cs1 litchi? she has everything makoto has and also range
Astaroth136 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Chandler, Marvel videos are priority #1. KoF vids are priority #2. Remember this when you begin editing, or I'll get KO to snap you in half. ROFL Also, I didn't even ask you how crazy your college schedule is this semester. You were too busy wearing multiple pairs of shades. Edited January 31, 2012 by Astaroth136
Top_Cat Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I'm not sure what star is trying to get at by posting that tier list. That noel wasn't retarded? Milln, did you get my pm about final round a few days ago? I just realized that it wasn't in my outbox
Milln Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 I agree with Marvel videos being done first priority than KOF. Hulk's first time not being in phone mode? I think yes please. I also need to laugh at Strider buttons. Yes I got your pm, Mids. No I don't know what they're talking about, either. Prolly something discussed during 3v3's.
Jackie Chandler Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 All right, all right. I'm pretty sure I have fewer Marvel videos anyway. Whenever you get the chance, make sure you post those brackets, Milln. :3 Also, Star posted the CSII tier list because we were talking about it on Saturday. He mentioned Makoto was the only S tier, and I disagreed.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Speaking of Tao. . . Mufuggin' EX Tao, hnnnghhhh. I might have to pick her up, stick or not. In any case, what's the situation with Power Up? Who all is going/wants to go etc.?
Papstr Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 As I recall, Jackie's schedule is pretty swamped. He's always busy he says.. Though to be fair, Tuesday through Thursday is pretty rough for me too. Especially Thursday. 3 hour class urrrrrrrgh.
Jackie Chandler Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) I'd LOVE to go. The Ohio crew is awesome, and I'd imagine some of the Michigan scene would be there, too. If I can secure the necessary funds and convince my folks, I'll definitely be going. EDIT: Oh yeah, and I found out why I couldn't see the cost of the Megabus tickets. Apparently, the calendar isn't planned that far ahead. :P It'll be another couple of weeks before I can get an estimate on those. Edited January 31, 2012 by Jackie Chandler
Milln Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Brackets have been up since Sunday. I made a post saying so. Check the results post.
Jackie Chandler Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Whoops, sorry. I came back home to a lot of posts Sunday, so I must have missed it.
Milln Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) comprehensive talk about cool stuff and Dr Pepper 10 WAIT! SOULCALIBUR V IS OUT TODAY. FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU and I thought I had evening plans. Edited January 31, 2012 by Milln
Alphakami Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Had lots of fun last weekend. Shouts to everyone, really. I played like ass all day, then had my little nap and played wonderfully the rest of the night. Gear and VS and KOF... oh shit, what great games. Looking forward to Extend too. Just for Niamat, I plan on finishing my combos on Extend. Volpe - yeah man, we can play, bring Star too, whatever. Saturday evening and all day Sunday are my best bets. I can probably host a pre FR gathering if people wanted to do it. FR is very very iffy for me still, looking more like a no go than a go go. Sux. Real Tier lists. S - Lee, Midnight A- Niamat, Chandler, Star B - Everyone else C - We're all better than C D - Kindergartners, People in a coma, Steak and Shake. Source - Me Edited January 31, 2012 by Alphakami
LastStarSaviour Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 @Milln: I really wanted to get some Soul Calibur 5 in today myself man but I won't be getting it for maybe a few days to a week. I might have to drop by to get some casuals in. Are you available this weekend? Really want to get into this game.
Milln Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 I'm available Saturday night and all day Sunday for Soul Cal or KOF.
