Duqs Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) Corrected the dates, nag autopilot daliri ko HAHAHAH. Thanks for the heads up. Will create a "pool system" tournament just for kicks to test it out. Matt and I will get back to you guys bout this since Matt has been dying to go with this format for almost a year XD. In case people are wondering how the pool system works, you can visit the EVO website In case anyone wants to know the sched in EVO (since they stream the matches, though not sure bout semi finals and quarter finals), click this link Anniversary of BBPH is on August if i'm not mistaken, details of celebration to follow (if meron hohoho) BTW, There are two holidays in August: National Heroes Day [AUG 29 MONDAY] and Eid Ul Fitr [AUG 31 WEDNESDAY]. Treatment of the holidays will be announced. Dragonthorn Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 @Duqs - actually iba iniisip ko na format... but we can discuss which one everyone would prefer. Qualifications Simple lang ang pool format... we randomly divide all the players into 4 pools. Within those pools, there will be a round robin format (similar to what Gelo introduced). The top 2 players from each of those pools will then advance to the elimination stage. Eliminations The top 8 will then be subjected to a single elimination bracket. The winner of the bracket is then the champion. Simple as that. We will go with single elims since the qualification stage takes up a lot of time, given that each player will have the same amount of matches regardless of win-loss record. So if you have 4 players in a pool, you're assured of at least 3 matches even if you do go 0-3. If any of you are familiar with the World Cup, this is how they do it.

Dragonthorn Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Actually Duqs and I discussed the format over ym... Di feasible yung round robin with more than 4 players in a group/pool. We have a new format in mind but we just need to iron out some of the details. We'll discuss it again and then finalize and let you guys know .

Duqs Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) updated IAD site with P2D's indestructible: http://iairdash.com/?p=1146 @Pool format It's prolly going to be a 4-pool system, tapos distributed yung numbers evenly among the 4 pools. Double elim type. Finalists of loser's and winner's bracket will go on to the next leg of elimination. So whats the difference of this 4-pool format from the normal double elims? Its easier to schedule matches between players since it starts off with pools instead of big batches. Its more organized in a way. We'll have to find time testing this new format since we might use this for ranbats if it will contribute to the flow of the event. 4 pool (or otherwise known as the EVO format) is the easy to implement XD @Bert Bracketting is still purely random. If you end up with a dtier vs dtier, then thats just how the ball rolls. The best format to play against someone you don't know much is a team battle (with location vs location if you want it THAT BAD). That or casuals. I think i heard that issue from someone (who shall remain anonymous) in the mvc3 tournament (ozinefest) who complained that he had to fight against 2 other people from his location and accused us of rigging the brackets. In the next mvc3 tourney (cash and carry), he was up against another person from the location he played, but he decided to drop the match (as in forfeit). Thankfully di siya tiga BB community XD @4pool format and location The 4 pool format CAN POTENTIALLY distribute people across different pools to avoid playing against one another from the early sets, pero you guys will face off parin sa quarter or semis. Of course this format will suck ass if some wtfuckery chance happened and everyone in the d-tier or any location ends up in one pool (2 representatives per pool amp). EVO Season moments check it out =D Edited July 7, 2011 by Duqs
Cokesakto Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 The pool system sounds nice, but we really need to gauge the time demands it will bring. Round robin type matches first sound like it might take a longer time than the pure double-elim brackets, but we'll have to see. We might have to start at morning to have any reasonable hope of finishing before nightfall.

We might have to start at morning to have any reasonable hope of finishing before nightfall. If the entire 4pool will use brackets like EVO, amount of time will be the same, just more organized. Round robin format will drag on depending on the number of players per pool or the number of pools itself. Ideal pool is 4 players per pool, and its only 4 pools. Amount of time needed for this is almost the same as a double elim bracket with 16 players. Regardless if sets are single matches or best of three. Going beyond that means tataas yung amount of time needed, kaya double elims nalang per pool naisip namin. I-tetest out pa kinks nito =D
lolokoa Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) Single Elims Per Pool 3/5 rounds tapos anu problema sa Double Elims bracket na ginagamit natin ? Better Yet Gayahin nlng natin ang Japan Sa tourney format Single Elims Single Character Final Destination Edited July 7, 2011 by lolokoa
Duqs Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) Single Elims Per Pool 3/5 rounds tapos anu problema sa Double Elims bracket na ginagamit natin ? Better Yet Gayahin nlng natin ang Japan Sa tourney format Single Elims Single Character Final Destination Kahit i double elims mo yung pool lalabas na pareho parin yung time needed with the regular double elims. As long as best out of three parin =D There is no problem with the regular double elims format we are doing, the 4pool just promises 1.) na mas organized yung takbo ng match, especially when we hit that 64-man match 2.) players can see how long they'll have to wait until their pool is up. Its for the sake lang of organizing stuff, and nothing to lose with trying it out. Ranbats will still be double elims format, pero if 4pool format is actually better and everyone likes it and there are no perceived flaws in it, then we move to that. I'm game with single elims, single chara =D Pede rin Double elims, single match, single chara. XD Edited July 7, 2011 by Duqs
InternetDivider Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Single Elims Single Character Final Destination XD OK LANG, MALAKAS ZELDA KO

OMG WALL OF TEXT
McArthur Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 pwde ring ma format by location sa software, pero if let's say madami tlga ang taga Mars or Venus, chances are may mag tatapat p din sa knila in the early rounds.
lolokoa Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Spelunker nlng tayo bert o kaya Galgun GALLLLLLLLLLLL GUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN o kaya nood tayo Live Action LA blue Girl less hassle pa SKIMAAAAAAAAAAAA LORDDDDDDDDDDDD
Marami ako dito ala nga lang subs yung iba but who needs them!! TENTAKOLS !!
