SansProtocol Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 As you may guess, this match-up is worse than it was in CS1. She has access to new/better starters and her gun hit a little harder this time around. Haku's trusty CS1 counters worked wonders in this matchup and though they still do well against her Drive attacks, the risk/reward ratio is much higher now. Midscreen: Watch out for 6A, 6B, 3C, and 2D. These will be the attacks that will usually net Noel the most damage outside of the corner. 6A will be her staple anti-air and is AU, so Instant Barrier to land safely as it's -12 on block (-11 in the air). 6B is an overhead that can lead to 3k+ midscreen but you can 6D it in response. 3C is her slide kick (hits low) and will go right under 4C and 6C. Due to 3C's amazing range, it is best to block and punish with 5C/Renka for good damage. Corner: This is an area where Hakumen DOES NOT want to be with Noel. Again, watch out for 3C and 2D as well as FC 4D. Thoughts: Although the damage that Hakumen dishes out may not be as good as Noel's is and his Drive Counters may not be at the level that they were in CS1, his gameplan is still the same. Stay patient, use counters sparingly, and block/punish unsafe moves like 3C.
mAc Chaos Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 What would you guys say this match up is? 5-5? 6-4?
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 5-5, keep any low hitting moves against her to a minimal, especially when she's blocking, ESPECIALLY 3c. 5c helps a lot here since it shuts down her 2d, which she uses to get out of pressure against pretty much everyone in the cast.
mAc Chaos Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I agree with that, but wasn't it like 5-5 in CS1? And then Haku got nerfed and Noel got buffed. But it's still the same?
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Hakumens slashes gives a lot of problems to noel. If you know how to block/punish it helps a lot. Let her come to you, she can't get much damage off optic barrel, especially if you start predict it with iadj2c. She'll eventually come in, form there it's all about your defence and watching out for her command throw. From the matches I've watched and personal experience it feels/looks like 5-5.
SansProtocol Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 It was a good matchup for Hakumen in CS1 (better risk/reward and damage for Hakumen) and an even match-up for him in CS2. Once you have Noel in the corner, it's hard for her to escape without 50 Heat. Also, it's hard for her to keep you in the corner as you have Hotaru and your Drive (though she doesn't need corner advatage as much as you). However, the risk/reward overall is in her favor as she'll get more damage per confirm than you will on average in CS2.
IndigoNovember Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 After watching Spark fight Dsmoove12, it kinda looks like you should spend your time blocking low and reacting to overheads when Noel isn't doing her Chain Revolver. You'll also dodge her command throw this way. But when she is doing her Chain Revolver, you should switch to blocking high and reacting to her low. That way you don't have to deal with 2d crossing up (unless it puts you in a better position) and her overhead 6b is faster than her low 6d. I wonder if 2d still crosses you up if you're crouching in the corner... That would be annoying to deal with.
Sophisticat Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 ^ You got that right. I don't think 2D crosses in the corner. Better check that one, though. Also, don't get hit.
