Well, I had a question about how to deal with Carl's crossup and seeing the ex threads are not up yet, I figured I'd ask it here.

When carl does his IAD crossup and I react and want to use 6d, do I 6d towards the direction carl started from, or wait until he's on the other side of me for the crosssup, and then 6d towards the direction that is behind me?

I can sometimes see it coming and I'd like to really punish this crossup instead of just blocking it.

If you are talking about his IAD J.2C crossup then there's some silliness to be had. First of all, you can block it low. Therefore you can use 2D on it. ... (ノ `Д´)ノ ~┻━┻ WHAT IS THIS!

Getting back to your question, I'm pretty sure you'd have to wait and 6D towards the direction that is behind you because 6D does not have very many active catch frames, so you'd probably just get counter hit if you did it forwards. Same applies to 2D. If you feel like you can react in time to do 6D forwards when Carl is IADing above you, you can probably just throw out 5D and have that catch. It worked in the testing that I tried, though who knows if I was doing the crossup IAD J.2C right ( ´_ゝ`) .

If you were talking about something else, sorry, that is the extent of my Carl knowledge.

If you have enough time, meet him in the air before he crosses you up and go for a throw or j.A. If you don't, 5D does work if you know they are going to go for the cross-up. If you have enough space and it will not cause you to be sandwiched in between Carl and Nirvana, you can use Kishuu to evade the attack as well.

I prefer good old blocking as the 6D/5D thing is a bit risky there unless I have seen the Carl player use j.2C way too much.

That's extremely risky if you don't time it right as Hotaru may not connect, protect you, or come out at all (because of the cross-up).

Yeah, I wouldn't do it unless I felt like I had an extremely good read. It's worked before. (It also cut off their air approach, as sometimes the Carl would do empty IAD or IAD and just whiff a move like j.A because they knew I was on a trigger finger with my counters waiting for j.2C) You have to get a few layers into the conditioning. But normally I just 2D or block.
