PozerWolf Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 So I'm finally giving this game a chance. WTF, I love this fuckin' game!
Jubeh Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 So I'm finally giving this game a chance. WTF, I love this fuckin' game! Thass good to hear. That had it on a set over at our game store. >_> Nobody stood a chance against my 17.
Clear Sky Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I'm digging a lot of tracks in the game. I hope someone rips the soundtrack for this game.
Tiamat Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Whats the deal with 16 and his grabs? The deal is...they do a SHITLOAD of damage. Wow 17 seems pretty popular here that's unexpected. I just played it for the first time today. I just found some simple combos that probably suck or are extremely obvious. I kinda want to buy this game but I'm so tight on money. No super meter combo: LLH 623H Super combos: LLL > qcfx2 H/360 motion L+H Yay for scrubby combos. Soundtrack is very nice too. Also seems that dashing L is unsafe on block and dashing H is frame adv(I think this applies to all characters).
Jubeh Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 The combos I posted up for 17 are really good. I can only assume that they border on bread and butter. If you have super cancel, though, it's a whole nother ball game. O:
Tiamat Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Alright thanks I'll try them out next time I am able to play. Those are all from that launcher though...are the jab strings I posted good or are there stronger ones? How balanced are the characters in this game? Anyone know? My first impression was that 16 is really good cause of his retardedly strong command grabs. Edit: Played it again with my friend today. I love this game. 17 is so fun. Those combos are cool but I didn't ever get any of the full ones. I'll work on them more next time. I just did parts of them haha. You can even get ff+H L,H L,H L,H lol
PozerWolf Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 By any chane, does anyone know how to get the jap version of the DBZ theme playing? I remember watching a match, Goku vs whoever, and it was playing in the background. Unless, this is arcade only? Also, the combo I usually do with 17 after launch is this: while in flite mode, cross over opponent, come down with L, ff+L, (L+B), short pause, J~H, ff+H, L,H (short pause) L,L, Super Is there a better version by any chance? I was just trying to figure out any type of air juggles with 17, and this is all I can think of.
Jubeh Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Does everyone play 17? >_> Anyway, from what I've seen, the game is really well balanced. You're right about 16, though, he can do retarded damage. D: You can even get ff+H L,H L,H L,H lol XD! Yes. That little pause is godlike. But your better off flying into them and doing it again. Make sure you hold forward, though, that makes it seem to connect easier. I would ff+H > LB > and then start with that combo. You can slap a super on the end for good measure.. I was just trying to figure out any type of air juggles with 17, and this is all I can think of. I just tried that combo out, and it's fantastic. The only thing I would change is the end... landing L, ff+L, (L+B), pause, J~H, ff+H, L,H, L,H,H, Ultimate Blaster In most of the 17 combos I've seen, I believe you can end it with the L,H,H string on characters that aren't too small (Teen Gohan, Krillen). As for the Japanese music, I don't think it's in this game. Same with the voices. EDIT: By "this game" I mean the American version.
Tiamat Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Wow you can get landing L > ff+L? that's crazy I was just going for jab combos after landing L...I need to try that. Is his landing L better than his landing H? It seemed like it was better to me. In most of the 17 combos I've seen, I believe you can end it with the L,H,H string on characters that aren't too small (Teen Gohan, Krillen).

Is his landing L better than his landing H? It seemed like it was better to me. Yeah I actually landed that as a combo ender a few times by accident. Does that third hit do more damage than if you just did qcf+H? Also I think that 17 and 18's stats on the character select screen are flopped. 17 has more ability meter and I think 18 does more dmg(other than not having energy field and more dashes for air combos). I still haven't played this game since last saturday...I need to get a copy so I can practice all the cool combos you guys have posted... I'm not sure which does more damage, but L,H,H will allow you to perform a super afterwards. If I don't have super meter and have another action bar, then I'll finish with L,H, (L+B):L. Unless you have Super Cancel, in which case, like Jubeh said, that's a whole other world I have yet to explore. Personally I use his landing L more because 1) it's angled down, as opposed to H, which makes it easier to land IMO, and 2) it comes out faster, which makes it easier to execute from a lower jump. Of course, landing H does more damage, but in the heat of battle, I tend to do whatever's easier. Hell, if you hit the landing L deep enough, you can get a ff+H afterwards (or so I've experienced in training mode).
Tiamat Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Ah ok. Damn store is out of copies and I don't have a car at the moment. boohoo! Question I was gonna ask earlier...how do you use 17's qcb+L/H? Or should you even use it? I think it's his only unique special move that 18 doesn't have.

Also, here is that match with the DBZ theme in it (second video with it, not too sure were the original video is). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og08H0vt3tc&mode=related&search= I'm wondering if the American version has it or something. Question I was gonna ask earlier...how do you use 17's qcb+L/H? Or should you even use it? I think it's his only unique special move that 18 doesn't have. I've never touched that move, but its possible to do some kind of cross-up with it? I dunno. Oh yeah, and here is the combo I was talking about in case no one understood my other post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aeER5-fvbM&NR
PozerWolf Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Hey, in Chi Chi's super where she extends the pole above her and starts to spin it, how do you move around with that super? And to make it last longer you have to mash, right?
The Stealer Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Hey, in Chi Chi's super where she extends the pole above her and starts to spin it, how do you move around with that super? And to make it last longer you have to mash, right? Mashing L and H fast make her move up, and once she moves up, you can control her horizontal direction by holding L or R, I believe.
PozerWolf Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Mashing L and H fast make her move up, and once she moves up, you can control her horizontal direction by holding L or R, I believe. Thanks. But, at times I can't seem to fly or chi chi will only go so high, even at full screen. I dunno, maybe I need to mash better or something >_> Anywayz, random DBZ matches, lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3UUZY5BK08 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwNC6zQU9dY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyGHHpN8d3s
furix Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Hawt matches. #18 is so hawt. I need to level up my character though.
PozerWolf Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 After those matches, I finally figured out the difference between 17 and 18 outside of combo properties. 18 body is light as fuck!!! Even 17 can do juggle loops on 18, its retarded >_< If anyone bothers to learn 18, you might want to learn the ability were your character weights more, she needs it ;(
Tiamat Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I'll be picking this up tomorrow. Thanks for putting up the matches. Is that chichi super unsafe on hit? It looked like she got punished by a projectile super. Is it just when you use it as a juggle ender? Also about 17 compared to 18...17 has five bars of action meter and 18 has four bars. Does this mean you could do longer combos with 17?

Also about 17 compared to 18...17 has five bars of action meter and 18 has four bars. Does this mean you could do longer combos with 17? Chi Chi's super can be punished IF the player can't seem to control it correctly. I'm still trying to get the hang of her, lol. 17 and 18 both start with 4 bars, but of course with the Dragon you can wish for another action bar if you like. They do play differently somewhat, they are the Ryu and Ken of Super DBZ. There are some interesting 18 combos that were pointed out to me from SRK. I'll possibly make a small combo vid of shit I've been figuring out once I get my game back. I won't say there the best combos, but whatever. Anyone can correct me on the vid if the combos could've improved.
PozerWolf Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Ok I'm retarded, I completely forget about L, H can still be comboed after you do a light/heavy homing. Man... this changes everything, lol. Also, it seems that you can only get 8 slots for your character in Arcade mode. Damn...
The Stealer Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Thanks. But, at times I can't seem to fly or chi chi will only go so high, even at full screen. I dunno, maybe I need to mash better or something >_> Anywayz, random DBZ matches, lol Wow, I didn't know Chi Chi could that many jumping H in a juggle. Damn. I also found out that since dashing attacks can be performed out of any dash, one can side dash, then hit forward and L or H and get a side step and dash attack using only one action bar. Sorry if this has been posted before, but I can never tell since the instruction booklet and atrocious Prima guide are pretty lacking.
furix Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 ChiChi only got so many hits on me on that combo cuz 18 is so light. As for #18 combos, I just remembered a combo I had figured out during the Pal Preview. I have to test it though, as I just remember it faintly.
Master Chibi Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I JUST noticed freaking SUPAA-man coming out from one of the toilets in the city stage. Talk about Easter Egg. XD
