Osuna Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Wouldn't that be a power-down? Unless somehow Lambda is a bad matchup for him I doubt Tager players would be happy about that.Is it really that hard to believe that Lambda(Zoner) had an advantage over Tager(Grappler)?
Mucky Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Tager just got a power-up in BBCP.. they removed lambda lol Wait, what? I guess it makes sense considering the storyline, but I can't believe that they would just remove the Nu/Lambda archetype entirely. Because they still aren't removing Arakune.
Koopa_Klawz Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Tager just got a power-up in BBCP.. they removed lambda lol Nah. The real buff was that they got rid of Mu.
Fireriku546 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Is it really that hard to believe that Lambda(Zoner) had an advantage over Tager(Grappler)? Sledge Hammer, Spark Bolt, unless Lambda has something that is extremely good from a distance that isn't a projectile I fail to see the problem. although I probably should take this to Tager Vs Lambda anyways
toanenadiz Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 She doesn't need anything that isn't a projectile. Sledge is easily beaten anywhere outside of the guessing distance and spark bolt isn't all that great at scaring Lambda.
TD Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 riku, you need to see some vids asap because right now youre in a different century. warp back to the 21st. lol jk srsly though, watch a few good tager (akira) vs good lambda (yoshiki) and you'll see why the matchup is definitely not in tager's favor. because it seriously isn't. at all.
Osuna Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 It's not his fault, he just got taken in by the myth that sledge is good. Part of playing grapplers is having to tell people that your stuff isn't always as good as you'd think it would be. Unless you're playing Pot, or Don Valve.
Manta Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Sledge Hammer, Spark Bolt, unless Lambda has something that is extremely good from a distance that isn't a projectile I fail to see the problem. although I probably should take this to Tager Vs Lambda anyways Put it this way: If you use sledge, several things might happen: She blocks, you get a chance to do a mixup that she'll probably backdash from She throws out a physical, you lose. She throws out a projectile but is out of range of sledge, you lose. She backdashes, you lose. You don't sledge; She throws a projectile: You block, neutral outcome. You don't block, you lose.

Those sound good on paper. Too bad they never really work. Maybe if they had Hammerfall property, safe on everything, and 0 recovery frames.
mAc Chaos Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Sledge Hammer, Spark Bolt, unless Lambda has something that is extremely good from a distance that isn't a projectile I fail to see the problem. although I probably should take this to Tager Vs Lambda anyways Fight Toan on XBL sometime with Tager.

toanenadiz Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Don't be so harsh. I'm assuming random meant they chose random characters at the start. The Lambda player learned in 1 round how to deal with sledge happy players. I've played against Lambda with 100s of matches who couldn't figure that out. You gotta give him some credit for that.

The random just means they were paired up randomly with a partner, iirc.
EvilCommie Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 So quick questions regarding eating bursts with voltic charge; Do you guys do this on reaction or is it a guessing game? If/when you guess when do you do it? If you lack the meter to 720 what do you do? And if there is no burst what do you do?
Scottie Yosh Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) So quick questions regarding eating bursts with voltic charge; Do you guys do this on reaction or is it a guessing game? If/when you guess when do you do it? If you lack the meter to 720 what do you do? And if there is no burst what do you do? 1. Its a guess and after playing tager awhile/have good yomi/reads(some people just burst badly alot :v), you get a feeling of where people tend to burst. 2. 360B works if timed correctly, or just about any in-air combo 5c starter, etc. If there is no burst to bait then I guess you just dropped a combo lol. You can however look at their burst gauge and block/jump if they burst at a point where you would link or can jump cancel sometimes.
EvilCommie Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Okay got it. Got inspired by some old EVO vid but i suppose it not as common as i thought.
Commanderoftroy Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I made a volt charge video from back in the first continuum shift days if you want to take a look. Most of the actual set ups work and the rest was mostly yomi and knowing when people will panic. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GQpqgyx24A4
A.X.I.S. Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 I want to see this CP stuff myself. Arcades will have the game soon.
LegendaryRath Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Thanks for making a video thread! I don't know who I'll main in CP, but I loved Tager so much in Extend that I'll have to try him out.
