Hey guys it's been awhile sicne I been to Dustloop to keep track of BlazBlue, I didn't even have the time to get a copy of BBCS on my PS3. But I was fortunate enough to get the chance to attend a local Tournament here in Malaysia this Sunday, so I have 3 days of preparation and 1 day of fighting. It's a Double Elimination format of a tournament (I am not sure what is that) Do you guys have any tips for me and my partner for the tournament? I play Noel and he plays Jin. It's been awhile since we played so yeah. I CAN'T EVEN PULL OFF NEMESIS STABILIZER AS FAST AS LAST TIME!

Practice combos and play the game.

Practice something easy and learn how to confirm off of it.

When you go to the gathering play the players and play them as much as you can.

Have fun and enjoy yourself, remember you won't get too far if you are not passionate about improving.

Take everything one step at a time this is important because a lot of lower level or new players want to practice the hard stuff or the stuff they shouldn't learn and it just doesn't help them no matter how flashy it is.

Block, learn how to block.

Visit dustloop and check out the combo section, ask questions if you don't understand something, the mods are willing to help you and so are the rest of the posters.

Everything Axis said +

When I went to my first Tourny in England, It was a minor event but I still got nervous and ended up coming something like 16th out of about 30. Shake those nerves off man, they suck.

Great guys =D I appreciate the help, and where is the combo section might I ask where the combo section is? And yes, I will practice these 3 days. I have 3 hours of prep during the Convention (It's a Anime-Comic-Games convention so yeah) so I'll bring my PSP with the game along and 5 minutes to warm up on stage, so yeah = ) Glad that Dustloop is as awesome as always. 2D mash, got it, lol.

*This post is just full of basic tips, since I don't know your skill level.

Aside from the general practice combos and stuff, if you can, try playing against real people. Fight as many online matches as you can to shake off your nerves.

One of the most important things you need to know about tournaments and fighting other PEOPLE in general is that they're COMPLETELY different from fighting the computer. Unlike the computer which is usually just in berserker mode and can easily be counter-hit into a devastating combo, Humans Know how to BURST, they know how to BLOCK, they can COMBO you, and THEY CAN ADAPT.

*And since you're playing Live on that tournament, and not online, opponents (and you) will have better reaction time and can land combos much better since there is no lag.

That is something you get just by fighting other people. Try challenging others before the tournament for warmup if its possible.

Had my first tourney last Sept. 4, at the Otaku Expo. Won the first match against a Ragna, then got beaten by a Tsubaki. Goin' back to online play to get more real-life fighting experience. Still, most of the players I fight right now lack... something. Meaning to say they aren't that good. Those players I fought at the tournament (Blazblue Philippines) are in a whole different level entirely.

Anyway, good luck on your tournament! Learn well from it, and play with the people you meet there! Live gatherings of Blazblue are very rare right now.

yeah its really different if you play LIVE and on the tourney setting and more so if it's the country's first time getting a center stage for a fighting game's finals XD

the above vid is epic because of the audience ( went to the con for cosplayers and j-rock etc ) getting hyped over a game im sure they don't know or for them, "not that awesome"

anyway best advice i can say is, join and/or meet the scene ;) and of course play with em ;) dont be afraid to ask for holes and stuff ;)

Some things -

- Computers are psychic. The AI knows what buttons you press and has a specific set of reactions to them. Players are not Psychic. They can read well given experience and knowledge, and part of your job is to give them bad experience in the match you are in. Do not blow your mental load in the first round. If's okay if you lose a round if it means the opponent blew his bag of tricks trying to beta a solid game or a game that he knew enough to beat.

- Players will adapt for sure, just look at Fio on Litchi - Fio loses a lot to Kaqn's Rag, but Fio seems to be able to change gears when it means he can take a match, and he can. It looks like someone else is playing his Litchi. That's how much mindgames you need.- You can beat players better than you if you are smarter than them.

- You have Noel - People are going to turtle you out. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how to play, but it's going to be important if anyone good shows up and knows that Noel needs to be respected as if they are going to get 720'd...

- Have fun. This is supposed to be fun.

So how was the tournament?

McArthur? Hello Mr. Announcer Guy. XD

The Noel vs. Makoto was awesome, and hopefully the audience liked it as well. ^_^

Still, to an outsider it might have looked like a 2d SF or MvC on fast-forward and with extra-long combos :vbang: since both characters are melee rush-down.

(hopefully not, since BB is more complex and far more fun in my opinion)

Too bad they didn't allow the exhibition match. Mu-12 versus Jin, right? That would have impressed the audience I think. (Jin with his various options and his swordsman-style being more familiar to people, while Mu-12 with her steins-placement showcasing the strategic depth of the game)

Hmm... what if it was an Arakune vs. Hazama/Mu-12/Lambda? Maybe it'd freak people out since it's too unorthodox. :P
