Chazmobile Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Even in Slash, Eddie was still powerful enough to be seen at the top of many tournament results. When played right, puppet characters can always be scary. Indeed he was, but he wasn't the absolute monster he was in reload. That being said I don't think he's ever been truly bad; and thus neither will Relius.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Although B vivace is easy evac so maybe I take that back lol Is that a Relius special or carl? If Relius, he has different versions of his "command evader"? Even in Slash, Eddie was still powerful enough to be seen at the top of many tournament results. When played right, puppet characters can always be scary. Maybe I should main a puppet user one of these days. Just that I'm a slow learner with decent execution, so I don't think they'll suit me. But for some reason he seems ot attract my interest, more than Eddie even. I've yet to acquire a sub anyways, and Valk is looking harder in cs2, with his wolf gauge nerfed:( Any character with a Puppet is a nightmare to fight. *Flashbacks of fighting Lieselotte on AH3* I'm good, I main Hakumanz he counters puppets and doesn't afraid of anything.
Rishtopher Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Is that a Relius special or carl? If Relius, he has different versions of his "command evader"? Sorry, that's for Carl. I forget that almost no one plays him so not many people know the names of his moves lol.
Osmond Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Rish, I think we are the only people in the thread using (well planning on using) both puppeteers here. Pity...Carl is more engaging then people wanna give him credit for ...from the looks of it Ley ley will be better then Vivace because if you are not delibrately watching for it you might not notice it, I mean it is easy to spot Carl's electric slide since he is changing positions on the screen but Reli's hairflip cape flip is not as obvious. Though the invincibility is probably much shorter. Edited October 8, 2011 by Osmond
Rishtopher Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Oh :S I hadn't realized it but yeah, a lot of people from the Carl crowd aren't here o.o I'm thinking Led Ley will be more useful than Vivace for me since Vivace eats lows and Led Ley is completely invincible. I'm assuming that you can't summon Ignis while doing any sort of move (except like Id Lauger or something), but if you have her already summoned, you can probably Led Ley for a reversal while using Ignis to counter. I haven't seen anyone do that yet, so maybe it isn't possible though. If it is possible, it might be harder to punish than Vivace since Ignis seems faster than Ada which means better cover. /Carl x Relius comparison for the people that don't care about/play Carl lol EDIT: So I'm watching the nico link that Jourdal just posted in the BB video posting thread (here if anyone wants to check it out) and I can hear Relius` theme a lot better since there`s no announcer. I can`t hear any opera at all though so I`m wondering if the opera was even that prominent to begin with. Also, it`s very clearly the CSX trailer music we heard before. I can`t wait to actually get clear audio of it. EDIT 2: Here's a Youtube link of the same video Edited October 8, 2011 by Rishtopher
Chazmobile Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Damn that Relius in the latest vids that Jourdal uploaded was sick. Some really good combo potential there. Seriously Japan, gimme. Now.
Jocelot Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Sorry, I'm kinda late to the party. Is there a complete movelist up for Relius as well as some deets as to what they do? I checked the first post but got nuthin'. EDIT- Nvm, I should look harder. Edited October 9, 2011 by Jocelot
Jocelot Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Wow, how the hell did I miss that? Awesome, thanks.
Ronove Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates during the week-end, I was attending a tournament. Anyway, here's an initial list of combos, it's likely and most certainly going to evolve and change as players keep exploring the character: MIDSCREEN 5B>5C>Id Basic combo 2B>5B>Id>Haas 6A>Id>Haas 6A>2D>5B>5C>2C>2D>5C>3C>Id Val Lanto>IAD j.B>j.C>5B>5C>2C>3C>[id>Haas] or Val Tus Gatling>3C>forward jump>2D>during 2D's blockstun: - 3C>2D>5C(1)>hj.B>j.B>j.C>Id>Naiads combos that picks up the opponent after 3C or - IAD j.B>j.C>5B>5C>Id>Haas>~ combo from high hit, if done midscreen go for 5B>6B>aerial combo as ender or - land 3C>Id>Haas CORNER 5B>5C>Id>Haas>5C(1)>2C>6C>4D>5C>6B>j.B>j.C>Id>Naiads 5B>5C>Id>Haas>5C>6B>hj.B>j.C>Id>Haas>falling j.C>2C>4D>2C>Req Vinum or Vol Ted Val Tus>5B>5C>Id>Haas>5C>6B>hj.B>j.C>Id>Haas>falling j.C>2C>4D>2C>Req Vinum or Vol Ted same combo starting from Val Tus. If Vol Ted is used at the end the damage can reach up to 7000 6A>2D>5C>Id>Haas>5C>2C>4D>5C>hj.B>j.C>Id>Naiads combo off overhead (6A) NEAR THE CORNER Air Throw>falling j.C>2C>6C>delay Id>Haas>~ I'm going to post more stuff as soon as I get back home (did this while traveling on train ;O) Edited October 9, 2011 by Ronove
Rishtopher Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Val Tus>5B>5C>Id>Haas>5C>6B>hj.B>j.C>Id>Haas>falling j.C>2C>4D>2C>Req Vinum or Vol Ted same combo starting from Val Tus. If Vol Ted is used at the end the damage can reach up to 7000 S-Seven th-thousand.. O___O Omg...must ..resist urge...to...switch mains @___@ Man, Relius is looking really awesome. I like his unblockables, he has a lot of mobility and his damage output seems pretty decent if not great. I haven't seen much use of his DDs other than Req Vinum, so I'm liking that Vol Tedo is actually useful for combo damage. Now all I need to know is how he can combo into his sex dungeon astral... Also, I've been watching the vids of Relius matches and the Hazama matchup doesn't look so bad (so far). That said, it's looking like I do NOT want to be the Carl in this matchup :X
Shiawase Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I have a question; you know how with Carl you have to usually do Ada's moves along with Carl's in order for them to combo, well is Relius the same way?
Rishtopher Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Judging from the technical thread, Ignis and Relius work the same way. Although you can't input a move in the same direction as Relius is attacking (eg, 6D+6C is not possible). You can input the moves at the same time as Relius is attacking though, they just have to be different directions (eg 2D+6C). Also, Ignis apparently works on press whereas Ada works on release. I don't know anything about timing, but generally, it seems like Ignis is faster so I think playing him would be closer to playing a character where D does a move as opposed to an effect (for example Ragna/Jin in contrast to Rachel or Valk). I hope that helps?
YukiBlue Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Val Tus is looking like a Sexy punish. I don't care much for distortions. He has a reversal and Rhapsody of Memories, that's good enough for me, I prefer using Rapid Cancels and Counter Assaults.
Vulcan422 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 In one of the newer Relius vids (vs Tager) you can hear the parts after the 2nd verse. There's a sick solo in there.

There's an awesome riff all throughout as well. His theme is really shaping up to be one of the best. Evil, yet calculating. The opening really sets the mood as well, makes the match sound like a boss fight.
Shiawase Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) @Rishtopher: Yeah that makes sense. Thanks for clearing it up. lol Relius can do Req Vinum > combo > Req Vinum. Good use of meter riiiiight? Edited October 9, 2011 by Shiawase
BlackWing Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Is there some glitch with Relius that whenever he does a counter assualt he'll lose a primer?
Chazmobile Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Is there some glitch with Relius that whenever he does a counter assualt he'll lose a primer? That's a universal system change. In CSX, whenever you CA, you lose a primer for that round.
BlackWing Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 That's a universal system change. In CSX, whenever you CA, you lose a primer for that round. Thanks for the info. Never saw that listed in the system changes.
Starlight777 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Am I the only one who hopes Relius can Led Ley Ragna and Jin's DPs on wakeup? That would be freaking hilarious.
Rishtopher Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I've seen Relius Led Ley Ragna's 5B with ease. If he can do that, doing it to a DP should be pretty easy :P
Starlight777 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I've seen Relius Led Ley Ragna's 5B with ease. If he can do that, doing it to a DP should be pretty easy :P I've seen that vid. That moment made me realise how much more I'm starting to enjoy Relius. But to be honest, I've enjoyed his character ever since I saw Tager's bad ending. Struggling to keep from abandoning my loli.
Solex Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Am I the only one who hopes Relius can Led Ley Ragna and Jin's DPs on wakeup? That would be freaking hilarious. fuck man i bet you we would could find an option select with led ley against jins c DP. for his d DP we would have to do led ley twice lol
