Ok actually, reading through that FB post again, I said top 16, I was off. I was expecting a lot more "pros" to show up so I didn't give Kyle enough credit.

But man, how about that Kid Viper?

Guys, I'm playing UMvC3 right now... and I've come to the conclusion that Dante is broken as shit. Like, 5 Minutes in training mode and I've come up with a combo that does half of Wolverine's health in damage... like, really? Wtf...

Also I've got some bad news. it turns out that the Sore Thumbs tournament is the same day as multi-day party I had planned for about a month. I didn't realize this until someone pointed it out. As a result, I may not be able to go. If I can somehow manage to like, leave my girlfriend in charge of my party for like a couple hours, I might stop by just for the tournament, but I don't know if that will be possible.

^You're only saying that because you're coming from BB, a combo reliant game whose combos require much more muscle memory than the average UMvC3 character. In UMvC3, any scrub that's even half compentent with fighters can go into challenge mode, learn some BnBs, then go into practice and pull off half health eating combos in less than an hour with relative ease. Doing them in real matches is where things change. Trust me. When you're playing an actual match in a game that fast paced, trying to get that one hit confirm to lead into your combo isn't as easy as doing those practice mode BnBs. I main Dante and I've learned a lot of what he offers in terms of his more advance combos, but getting them off in an actual match only happens like less than 20% of the time. People that aren't fans of the game hate on it, but UMvC3 DOES have a learning curve, and it comes in the form of getting use to the pace of the game to get your combos out.

Oh, and Dante isn't exactly broken. He's high tier, yes, but not broken lol. The combo you learned probably won't get you too far in an actual match lol. In high level UMvC3 play, a "combo" tends to take out a character completely :)

I'm not trying to win tournaments in UMvC3, because I don't really want to play in those. I just want to get good enough that I can destroy the couple friends of mine that casually play the game. We usually are pretty even, and one of my friends jokingly says that I suck at UMvC3... I do, but then again so does he. I pretty much want to get good enough to pull a prank on him by wiping all his characters with Dante. XD

What are you trying to say Cary?

And Josh, I was honestly just replying to the "Dante is broken" statement, wasn't questioning your play lol. He really isn't broken, he just seems like he is because of how fancy looking and lengthy his combos can be and how all his moves combo into eachother. With the right setups and knowledge, the most of the cast can deal just as much, if not, more damage than Dante can.

But I'll shut up now.

I called him broken because he's easy as shit to do decent damage with. He plays like he's a character in an air-dasher game, and can combo most of his stuff into each other. It's why I have fun playing him. I'm not saying other characters can't output similar damage, but he seems to have a pretty easy learning curve and is a high-tier character.

That you started from nothing to skipping to advanced bold cancel combos ? Josh is starting from nothing ...

marvel goes that way in general, 700-800k bnbs are the norm. Coming from BB, where your 30 second long BNB that does 3500 damage does like 20% though, I can see how it'd look like it's silly, lol. Personally I look at BB the opposite way... takes way too long to do any real damage.

You'll get over it :v:
