Not really related and more of me thinking outloud than anything but it pains me how From Software quietly releases a sequel to its niche hit, which only really gains popularity through word-of-mouth, curiosity, and the quality of the game itself; whereas Capcom can just push out any old derivative schpiel it wants with the marketing and stigma to make it sell.

Dragon's Dogma just plays like a poor-man's mashup of Skyrim and Dark Souls to me. It's like they wanted the customisation and free-roaming of Skyrim but realised that full-on ripping it off would be too blasé even for them so they decided to rip off what made DkS innovative.

Not to mention they straight up ripped off Shadow of the Colossus style boss fights.

Oh, and the technical issues and clunky animations.

And dull story with bland characters that have no life.

I was gunna' buy it for RE6 beta thing, but now RE6 looks shit, there is no reason to buy it lol.

EDIT: Unrelated, I've decided that I'll be maining Mitsuru, Yukiko doesn't really look like she fits my playstyle. Might look into Teddie too, but w/e.

It's quite funny how From Software tell a better story in Dark Souls using only speculation and item descriptions than Capcom do using cutscenes/lore/etc

Also by 'fit your playstyle', you mean she's not top tier enough right? :kitty:

The combat was surprisingly good in some places despite the swiped hanging-on sequences, I liked that you could stab the monsters all over, it's just a shame it takes forever to get from A to B not noting the bullshit transport system thing. Seriously, rip-off SOTC and then don't give you so much as a horse to get anywhere.

Not to mention the ridiculous premise. A dragon rips out your heart so you can kill it later? WHY NOT KILL YOU RIGHT THERE? I never finished it so I'm so there's some convoluted deux ex machina reason but it's so stupid. DkS's story is something that doesn't get enough credit; it's nothing short of incredible but noone cares because it's not spelt out in cutscenes and quicktime events. In all fairness despite my riding of From the game does still have its flaws, but they're far less than anything Capcom puts out; of course you won't see that written anywhere because everyone's in Capcom's pocket. Stupid Capcom.

Is Mitsuru that girl who fences? As a champion swordswoman, I'll probably sub her along with whatever token robot girls are there (providing I can be bothered to get it.)

I wrote a small post reviewing DD a while back, cba to find it. But yeah, the varied combat was nice, but DkS rules over all ARPGs, apart from Threads of Fate, but I love that game due to nostalgic reasons.

Yes it is ^_^ She's also top tier.

H8'rs gun h8 that DD bested Dark Souls on it's first try.

I know that list can be picked to bits and it's obviously IMO. But even with all of it's flaws, DD just feels like a much better game. Especially those god damn boss fights.

And the Dd storyline makes almost no sense until you get the to end. Then in like 4 sentences your like OOOOOOOH DAMNNN I GET IT NOW OH SHIT

DkS is much more replayable.

DkS doesn't steal Boss Fights from other brilliant games.

The weapons part is arguable.

The only thing I disagree with you on that Chaz is the Combat. It's the only thing DD's got going for it, even though it isn't even "that" good.

wtf am i saying.

I'd never say weapons is arguable. Armour and Weapon Enchantments, Arrow Swapping, Clubs, Maces, Sword, Daggers, Magick Bows, Two Handers, Shields, Magick Shields ect. Then you have vocations which is an entirely new system that adds to combat AND replayability. :I:

Plus the variety of weapons and especially Vendors makes it a clear winner imo.

Replayability, Boss fights and Combat to Dark Souls?

Y'all need to actually play this game mangggg.

You can get all those weapons in Dark Souls and they look cooler. There is a huge variety of weapons in Dark Souls all with unique designs so I really hope you're joking on that point.

To combat vocations you have a variety of stats in Dark Souls with which you can customise your character into a class which you want to be. This adds replayability and depth because you can always improve on those stats.

Replayability, Boss fights and Combat to Dark Souls?

Dark Souls' replayability is actually very good because the enemies level up each playthrough, meaning that is always challenging. This also opens up more options to customise your character, more chances to find cool shit and online is incredibly fun.

The combat in Dark Souls is one of the best in modern ARPGs to date so I don't know what you're on about, it is fair, balanced and challenging as well as being deep. Inb4parriesandbackstabs. I'm talking offline here.

The boss fights are grand, unique and challenging. All of them have an amazing atmosphere and are presented beautifully, with some of the best OST to go along with them.

Naw. Dark Souls weapons do genuinely fall a way short of DD. DD does everything Dark Souls does in the weapon and combat category, but it just does more, and it does it better. Trufax.

why don't you all try playing good games?

Why don't you try to stop being a raging weeaboo?... I mean, no.

If you're a stickler for Berserk references Demons' (there are several Demons, damnit, not just one) Souls and Dark Souls are actually rife with them. Hell, one of the blacksmiths is even called Rickert.

Infact I'd say From's designs in general are much more inspired... come on now: Generic red dragon vs Scaleless dragon/crystal/butterfly/mad scientist

I'll just play both.

Enjoy your one game only, faggots. Idort master race right here.

I have played both. DkS is better :keke:
