Playing some mashy Valkenhayns online. I play this like I play Hakumen / Tager. Just zone and be as lame as possible :V

Some random notes after playing Kiba:

-Pumpkin usage makes him think twice. You can just wind the pumpkin towards whatever angle he tries to approach you and score a CH that can even lead into a nice combo. Pumpkin is our most useful tool in this MU. George doesn't help at all on neutral because he can easily kill him with j.C. Having a rod near you is also very good. Summon your two other poles across the screen, as it limitates his overall movement.

-Don't try to AA as long as you don't know whether the Valk is going to bait it or not. Try to figure out his movement habits first.

-He can bait our 2C with his wolf command grab that leads into delicious damage in the corner, it's not worth the risk.

-Valk is able to transform into wolf after 6B's active frames. Prepare to block high because he will be airborne. Keep in mind that he could just land and hit with a low. He can also transform into wolf during 6C's startup for a nasty low/command throw setup

Learn how to ib wolf 5B. 5B 5C j.A have only 4F gap, Rachel have nothing to do with this without ib.

Rachel can finally AA Valkenhayn lol.

Valk have safejumps. Chair can whiff when Valk doing j.C.

Winded lobelias and pumpkin are super effective in this matchup, learn how to cover all space on screen.

Try to beat 6C during startup with 5A/5B.

Respect rising j.C when he have RC.

If you're more daring you can even 6A the 6C, and then you guys can do that crazy ass corner carry combo if you have the wind for it!

That requires you to be fast though, and if it's used in a blockstring, it probably requires an IB beforehand.

he can cancel into 7D/4D and punish for 6A.

in blockstring(mostly after 5C) use 5A without ib and 5B with ib.

I feel like wind management is even more important in this MU. While Rachel can handle all the other MUs without wind, she absolutely cannot against Valk. Don't run out of wind or you die. Try to keep at least 2 wind stocks to stop his movement with pumpkin.

Yeah in addition to wind management learning how to manage bursts is also really important. I got robbed a couple of times even with a near-perfect zoning game. Valkenhayn gets in once and you commit to a wrong burst / CA and it's over.

worth mentioning that valk's instant overhead is an option select counter-assault bait, so beware counter-assaulting moves like 5b that are jump-cancellable

Be careful of summon or lobelia at mid-screen range. If Valk has meter he can Strum Wulf through it.

It sucks to be without wind against, tager, carl, and hakumen also. Espicaly when back against the wall.
