Chris Chaos Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Anyway... back on topic: The reason why almost no one plays ranked is because they've already found that group they "Click" with and go into player rooms with them. Back in CT where no one knew anyone, Ranked was where you would go to play some matches and when you came across someone you got a hype game with, you added them. After that happening a few more times, you would eventually find enough players there that would give you a run for your money and give you some GG's and just start a player room with that select group. Since everyone knows who is who by this time around (This is speaking for those who have been playing since CT/CS1), they just play against who they enjoy. There are other players that will go into ranked because "DAT PSR" or just plain bored, but the series has been around for at least 3 years so everyone's mindset of ranked is "Why play ranked when I can open up a room and get some GG's with my friends"? Sadly, the new guys can't get this because they are just coming in so they run into the "Netplay Assholes" (Not dropping names, because we all should know who they are) in there and it turns them away from the game or get's them to see the game in a bad light. This is why I believe Ranked is dead most of the time.

AdmiralKorngold Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Ranked pros: good when you just wanna get several matches in a few minutes without too much effort searching and waiting, training while waiting after every match allows me to practice what I messed up in the previous match, psr is fun, get to compare win % among all my characters, get to play more people (in theory), player rooms are kind of exclusive if you are looking to fight new people Cons: ranked has worse players (in my experience), worse players often means more salt, I always end up playing the same person over n over (fix this!), gets old much faster after long waits between every match, a lot of people just dodge Since I stopped caring about arbitrary numbers I stick to player matches.
