A.X.I.S. Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Do it, I see you being a reliable family man over lulz loli. The thing is, if you can't do TK Swallow mix-up and 22C combos, then you're not going to win any matches. I won matches without doing those. Starlight keep practicing and trying. The journey of Plat is not easy but very rewarding.
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) Also I'll learn to at least smart mash one day. Straight up mashing just makes me feel like you got me like putty in your hands. I should at least be able to take a guess as to when to mash, not just mash cause I'm desperate to get out of pressure. You don't even have to mash, just know when to push buttons. Examples (assuming you're playing as Ragna): Litchi does 6D and you IB the second hit, at this point she's left at neutral. You can do 5A and it will beat anything she has or 2A if she does 2A herself. Jin does 2D, you IB it. Your 5B will beat anything he does at that point. Hell, if you're feeling gutsy you can just 5B him after a non-IB'd blocked 2D and it will still beat Jin if he's too far away to do 2A. Jin lands a 6A. Your 5A will trade with Jin's 5A. Don't mash A, just push it once after you get hit by 6A. Jin will be conditioned to use TRM setups or be gutsy with a DP. Either way, he'll give up his pressure.Jin does a high j.B and you're on the ground. j.B has shitty hit-stun and if we use it too high, then it won't combo. ID after you get hit by it, you have nothing to lose the first time. In fact, that applies to a lot of moves that have little hit-stun and require good positioning and execution. Platinum is doing a lot of TK Swallow j.Bs. Fuck it, just mash A here. It will condition her into doing frame traps and doing weaker pressure as a result. Noel does 2D or 4D. Jab her once and hit confirm or block whatever comes next if it whiffs. Valk cancels whatever into wolf form, jab once and hit confirm or block whatever comes next if it whiffs. There are a lot more but these are the basics. GGs to Team DAI. I've gotten past the first line of defense (Mr. Badguy), now I need to bring down the assassin (Hito), the Liutenant (Din), the Captain (Uri), and the Commander (Hellknight). > Attempts to invite Toan to play some matches > He's playing SxT > Does not send the invitation I won matches without doing those. I won matches by doing nothing but DP A as Jin. It just means that your opponent is either not too good or does not know what to do against Plat. I mean, Plat is not that good of a character, take away some of her tools that aid her winning chances and you're pretty much fighting with a handicap. Edited March 13, 2012 by Moy_X7
Dont_Explain Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) On the subject of Starlight's Plat, a different playstyle can win Moy. Like I'm not "herpaderp Gauntlet Hades every chance I get" Ragna and I still get wins sometimes just from playing safe. Edited March 13, 2012 by Dont_Explain
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 A different playstyle can win Moy. Like I'm not "herpaderp Gauntlet Hades every chance I get" Ragna and I still get wins sometimes just from playing solid. I guess, then again the chances of you beating some of the better players by being "respectful" are very slim. That's why you got blown up by pretty much everyone on Kurushii's stream every day, no offense lol. We tell you that you're way too respectful. It's one thing to be smart and not mash when you're not supposed to, it's another to let your opponent continue their pressure and break your own pressure for free.
A.X.I.S. Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I won matches by doing nothing but DP A as Jin. It just means that your opponent is either not too good or does not know what to do against Plat. I mean, Plat is not that good of a character, take away some of her tools that aid her winning chances and you're pretty much fighting with a handicap. In your case yes. But in the case of Plat you can win a lot just by being solid in neutral and making good reads. Knowing how to TK swallow moon adds on to your offense yes but it is not completely necessary. Same with knowing 22C links, it gives you better damage off your confirms but you can just oki people to death, My god doing 22C bnb's is agony online how do people do this?
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I'm telling you because I used to do be the exact same way as you. I've won way more matches ever since I stopped that super respectful line of thinking but hey, if that's what you wanna do, then that's fine too. I'll just continue doing shoddy pressure and mix-up on you for free lololol.
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 @Axis - You can win that way but it will be much easier to win if you use Plat at her full potential.
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I mash cat chair. Deal with it. Ok *mashes throws* Man, y'all just like doing things the hard way, don't you? lol
toanenadiz Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I mash cat chair. Deal with it. You barely used cat chair against me last time we played. You used to spam it all the time before.
kodimt Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 >implying I can't break throws and mash cat chair I'm just on that high level yomi, son. You barely used cat chair against me last time we played. You used to spam it all the time before. Cat chair is very hard to do against Lambda.

Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 >implying I can't break throws and mash cat chair I'm just on that high level yomi, son. > Implying that you're not actually mashing Cat Chair then > Implying that you wouldn't get TRM awl dei if you were > Implying implications
A.X.I.S. Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I can't play Plat on netplay man. I mostly use Tager, Ragna, Noel, and Lambda.
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 So I'm not the only who felt this way about attempting 22C combos online. AXIS doesn't try because he has ass internet which will barely improve even with the ethernet cable. You, in the other hand, have no excuse. If I can do it even though my execution is not that good, then all of you other Plats with a decent connection should too.
kodimt Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Moy rarely ever drops Plat combos when we play. I don't know how he does it.

Actually my net is better when hooked to a cable and I play offline a lot so I am more used to offline timing. While you at netplayland had to learn how to deal with it. the difference between me and you is I don't have to put up with lag.
Moy_X7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Speaking of Cat Chair, last Saturday when I went to my weekly offline gathering I met a rather interesting Rachel player. The guy's yomi was fucking strong. He would Cat Chair me every time I attempted to 6A him. In the other hand, he would never use it when I tried to bait it/throw him. He also told me that Rachel could use the wind to do a complete 360 with j.2C. I lol'd fucking hard when he actually did it and hit me with it. Edit: the difference between me and you is I don't have to put up with lag. I don't have to but I still do. Netplay is available to me almost every day. Offline gatherings only happen twice a week here and I only attend once.
BatousaiJ Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I kill platinum by beating her up until she has no health left. It's worked pretty well for me so far.

Time to use the magic of positive thinking to make something work I guess lol. Also on a sidenote I felt that if you used Plat against my Relius earlier, I wouldn't have been able to pull half the silly crap I did.

I was tempted to use her but then again I promised that I would play nothing but Jin next time I played you lol. Batousai with that godly anti-Plat strat.
