[CF] Jin Kisaragi Gameplay Discussion Thread (Pre-Release Date)
Moy_X7 replied to Dawn of Musou's topic in Jin Kisaragi
Just got the demo, mid-screen DP C combos are hella easy. 6B > j.214C > 66 2B is going to take some getting used to but goddamn 3.7K from a crouching confirm with that. Watched so many videos that I could replicate most of the combos I've seen without effort lol. -
What gives stronger oki options, ending a combo with 6H > Special Cancel (fish of choice) or 236H? Debating which corner combo I should stick with based on that, the corner combo options are... Stuff > Spike RC, 66 TK236K > j.H, 66 6[H] > 421H, j.H > j.236P, j.H > 66 6H > Oki Stuff > Spike RC, 66 6[H] > 421H, j.H > j.236K, j.H > 236H, Oki The 1st combo does a whopping 1 more point of damage but it's not very timing dependent. The 2nd option really depends on whether you can time the 6[H] correctly and different weight classes affect that timing (I really, REALLY hate weight classes in this series). Now my main concern would be whether one makes oki tighter than the other. Only real way to test this would be against an actual player but I'm not a fan of playing against people before I have a pretty good grasp on the character. So... 6H > Oki or 236H > Oki?
-
Nice find Kaneykane, looks like there's still lots of room for discovery. As for the whole oki subject, seems like 6H ender is the best way to get oki. Pretty sure you can get a meaty 421S after 236H enders if you delays it a bit though.

Here's footage of that combo for visual learners. I'm going to go with that as my mid-screen BnB. It's simple, it's not too distance dependent, it does damage and offers oki options: Is the corner BnB still pillar loops? Stuff > 236S > RRC, 214C, 236C, (214C hits), 236C, 236S?
-
Here's Ryd's combo for anyone that needs visual help: Hardest part for me would be timing the IAD j.HS so that the bubble pops without the combo dropping.

Someone make dank combo and setup videos already. I'm not gonna learn these things on my own :^)

What Airk said, although I have more success improving my hit-confirming with new characters against a "live" CPU dummy set to the highest level since they tend to move around, throw shit at you and block from time to time.

Central Fiction Arcade Plot Discussion (spoilers)
Moy_X7 replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
Rofl, "I am become alive" Fucking Mori always pulling all kinds of crazy shit to bring characters who need to stay down for good back. Fenris pretty much put my thoughts into words regarding this subject. -

" A night sky full of cries Hearts filled with lies The contract - is it worth the price? A soul pledged to the darkness Now I've lost it I know I can kill The truth exists beyond the gates" ABS's "HOWLING" confirmed for Act 3 opening theme :^) Dumb shit aside, can someone explain to me just how exactly Mu managed to become her own entity? More like, how did Noel and Mu manage to "split" into 2 separate beings? Oh and is Arakune speaking coherently now or is he still speaking blob? One more, how exactly did Lambda manage to come back? I thought she was scrapped and used as one of Ragna's temporary arms? -
Does Izanami have to wait for her "purple triangle bits" to respawn before she can exit projectile mode?

Yeah, I'm still wondering why Imperial Code is a thing yet there's no Jin vs Saya theme at the moment. Jin's hatred towards Noel stems from the fact that she looks like Saya (lol clone) but now that the real one is here, there's no versus theme. FeelsBadMan, hopefully it'll become a thing during CFEX.

I said I was gonna play her once she was released and I won't go back on my word, even though her battle design is a mess. Does the float have start-up frames or can you float immediately/while executing other moves?

CSE Plat and CSII Jin CSE Plat - Hella damage, 3.2K from a 5A in the corner, 5K+ from a 5C and Bubble + TK Swallow oki da gawd. Jump loops mid-screen that carried the opponent from one end of the screen to the other da bes. CSII Jin - Combos were fluid, 3C > 236C oki was a thing, IAD j.D/j.236D mind games, 5B > IAD j.2C in the corner, freeze resets without sacrificing too much damage. Dem good ol' days https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P85SjzR7asc They're both looking really solid in CF, so I'll probably change my opinion once I mess around with them in that game. Found those relics in my YT channel, back when I played the crap outta BB. Now I barely have the will to even fire up training mode

Mmm, hopefully we get more information regarding her background once we get the console version. -

It doesn't seem too unreasonable, I mean we do have Lambda and Nu in the same game after all. Since we're on the subject, what's Platinum's background again? All I know about her is that Jubei raised her. How old was she when he found her and did she have a name at that time or did Jubei just give her that name? -
Knowing combos is a necessity if you want to play these types of games competitively. I would say that learning fundamentals and having a strong offense, defense, and neutral game is the difficult thing, since you need to play other people for that kind of experience whereas you can grind combos by yourself at any time. Personally, when learning a new character in these kinds of games, I try to grind combos first. Landing hits is all good and gravy but you need to be able to convert them into damage. However, knowing combos is not going to automatically help you win matches. I know a lot of players who can whip me, even though I pull off better and more optimized combos compared to theirs. Their fundamentals and ability to read me are so on-point that it doesn't matter that I can squeeze more damage and can carry them further to the corner with my combos when I can't land the starter most of the time. My process when learning a new character in these combo-heavy games goes like this... 1. Learn what every single one of your moves does; their reach, special properties, frame advantage/disadvantage, what they can cancel into, etc. 2. Learn and grind combos, then grind them some more against the highest level AI to practice hit-confirming. Just keep in mind that the AI is mostly only there to help you grind combos and practice hit-confirming and you should never treat them as you would a human being. 3. Learn blockstrings and set-ups 4. Play games tl;dr - combos are necessary if you want to be competitive but they're not this magical thing that is going to automatically win matches for you.

Really liking what I see so far, there's quite a bit of combo potential with the new OD item mechanics (items can self-cancel up to 3 times during OD). What I'm really loving about the new BB game is that they got rid of that shitty SMP mechanic, the damage penalty is there but without the hit-stun penalty. The halo item looks really strong, if only it was a 2 hit move (additional hit on the way back). Gonna go for the MJ halo at every chance that I get. Not sure about j.2C having a better P1 but I know for sure that Cat Hammer 5D/j.D has better P1 and got a combo duration buff. I saw A-ru go for 5D CH > 66 5C > 6A > 22C, [66 5C > 6A > j.D] x 2, 66 5C > 6A > 236C for over 3K mid-screen. As of now in CPE, that combo would be impossible due to the combo duration from a cat hammer 5D/j.D.

Click on the "link" icon from the text options menu (right next to the emoticon/smiley icon). A new window will open, prompting you to copy and paste the link in the blank box above and to type the text in the blank box below, that's it.

Terurin no Kabe (PL) vs Futaba (BL) 44 minutes of nothing but Plat vs Bullet

I was watching some more Plat videos and it seems that every item can cancel into itself during overdrive, not just the Halo. That and all the melee items can be special canceled now, even the Bat.

Chrono Phantasma Story Discussion [fun tentatively allowed again]

Just finished reading Phase 0, that was more of a feels trip than I expected. At least I learned more about the Lynchpin and that Celica is the true Ragna waifu lol.
