Kiba Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) Discuss the Shadow Labrys matchup here. Punishes: Anti-airing: Zoning: Their game plan: Strategy: Char Specific Details: You can meaty 2C Asterios' 8C (from underground) for a free Persona card break. Ways you can avoid her on your wakeup Edited October 23, 2012 by Kiba
Kiba Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 This is a difficult matchup which isn't in our favour. Shadow Labrys' damage is not particularly her forte but she is very good with keeping you under control or locked down once she has gotten you in. If Asterios is underground what you'd want to do is move around in the air so that his uppercut misses, or you have to stand there and block it whilst S.Labrys comes in and goes for some sort of mixup. Asterios being able to go underground is why you should be very careful with using Maziodyne or Maragidyne. If you get in close, you need to be mindful with your blockstrings because her F-Action completes destroys any mixup or pressure we may try to inflict. If you do manage to bait the F-Action you can punish with 5C(2) CH > 2C > B.Bufu > SB.Agi > Stuff into at least 4k. Remember she only has 8k. Anti airing her with 2B is awkward too because her JB sometimes goes in her favour scoring her a CH. Asterios' hammer attack isn't a high, it hits low, so be wary about that.
Diveman Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Neutral game. What do??? Recently ive faced some S.labrys, I found that it actually depends on what they are doing, for example, there are some S.labs that like to order Asterios to do something and then just turtle, those are not that hard, just identify which attacks they do and approach. The ones that actually go in after that are the hard ones, but at least for now, my plan is just to dodge her attacks and AA her accordingly if she jumps too high for you to AA her with 2B, just roll. Also S.lab cannot punish Zio very well, so you can get more of those blocked without too much to worry about than vs let's say Narukami or Mitsuru. Oh and when the game is neutral, don't jump at her, just don't; Asterios' 2C eats those for free, maybe jump and airbackdash to bait it?
Synthesis Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 You can destroy her F-Action by reacting with yours on certain moves. =D
Diveman Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I was playing this match again yesterday, and the amount of space S.Labrys control is actually really good, so I can't move freely. Does anyone has more strats vs this match?
XVII Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I'd just like to add, you can meaty 2C Asterios when he's about to come from underground for a free Persona card break.

XVII Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) You mean the cmd grab? or 8C? 8C. I think you can with his cmd grab, too, but I'm not sure. Let me test it right quick. Edit: Yeah, 2C beats his cmd grab, too. Wouldn't recommend, though, seeing as how Labrys will be in your face when you this this. Just 2B, beats the Persona clean and it's jump cancellable. Elochai Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Some quick stuff: -If Labrys is attempting to hit you with [4]6C/D and she jumps as well, you can 2B her. 2B is the choice attack her because you're airborne, and thusly, you cannot be grabbed by Asterios. Chances are you'll score a CH as well. -If you're close enough to her, and you press 5C, Labrys can DP on reaction, and body Liz + Thanatos for free. 5C isn't a go-to pressure option close range. Just like with Labrys though, you can DP on reaction to her DP. -With moves like 8C, some of Liz's slower zoning tools get blown up on block. Likewise, you can be hit out of garudyne if you aren't high enough. S.Lab's 2C also makes garudyne a tad risky.

Regarding the 2Bing on wakeup, i find that she can counter hit you before your 2B comes out, ive had this happen to me several times when i tried it on my friend. But yeah i have problems with this match up too. I got blown up by bananaken the other day :C
Elochai Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Here, using 2B (Labrys is doing j.B), Liz is safe from the grab, and 2B's head invul is nullifying Labrys' j.B attack. I suppose my findings here are a tad specific.
Speakeasy Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I played a really good Slabs today, and I was wondering... is it just me, or does our DP beat out every single one of her setups where she's on the ground and close enough to us to get tagged? Even if Slabs techs it, we've escaped the setup for free.

Luckily Slab's Persona is also restricted from using any normals/specials when at least grabbed by the DP even if it gets rejected.
