Pen_Ninja Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Raw Ada hits are generally pretty good starters with the exception of maybe con fuoco. Once you get into the character fully you just realise that you have certain combo paths and they're all pretty interchangeable. Combos into volante, combos into 6D, combos into 8D, etc. The problem with raw Ada hits is that Carl could be doing literally anything he wants at the time. Confiing off a volante that hits just after you 236A has recovered is differen go combining off one that hits mid-236A because you'll need to account for hot long it takes for Carl to do stuff and how long that allows you to move Ada. Volante you can usually get 5C j.b j.2c j.c 2D 5c j.b j.b j.c 46D 6a j.b j.2c j.b j.c 8D at least in CON CNO gives you something completely different. Combos off 41236 are a bit shorter. I recommend trying to combo into something that leaves both of you standing. This is untested but maybe L1 6c 2a 2b 5b 5c 46d air dash j.5b etc into mixup. Again, unconfirmed and untested Done on my phone so I expect a mistake or 2
wiredgod Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 The input barrier I'm struggling with currently is xx > j.b > j.c> 46D. I'm able to execute the 46D just fine, but it seems to be coming out either too early or too late. I'm thinking you want to put the 46D just after the j.b input. Any suggestions on conquering this input sequence?
Raiza57 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 The input barrier I'm struggling with currently is xx > j.b > j.c> 46D. I'm able to execute the 46D just fine, but it seems to be coming out either too early or too late. I'm thinking you want to put the 46D just after the j.b input. Any suggestions on conquering this input sequence? To combo into 46D from a single jumping height you would want to input the 46D after Jb.. before the Jc SO LONG AS ADA IS ALREADY ON. If she is off and you try to do this it will not work. You must already be holding down the drive button. The way I do this is I jump with J4B then input forward and release during the hit. As for a double jump height/single super jump height is to input 46D with the jc. Double super jump height into 46D is very difficult to pull of. I still havent be able to figure out a specific time to do the 46D. Depending on the opponents hitbox doing it after the jc causes the second hit to whiff which is a bit annoying. Usually a more optimal route after a 5c Brio confirm... but less likely to hit.. Then its all the hitbox flaws if it does hit. Annoying.
wiredgod Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Anyone know what is optimal off of N-C-O-W from a 5A/2A/5B/2B? Is this ideally where you want to go for an unblockable?
Pen_Ninja Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 The best I could find was probably j.B+3D > 5AB > 46D > 6C(L2) > 5C > j.B > j.C > 623D > 5C > j.B > j.B > j.C > 412D > 6A > j.B > j.2C > j.B > j.B > j.C > 8D > optional 3C > Super. Not sure how much damage it does or whether it's really optimal but it was the best I could find. Let me know if this doesn't work too. I'm not in a position where I can double check whether this was actually the right combo or not at the moment.
Sodelic Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) I was messing around with doing 6B > 2C combos in the corner as Carl and found these. Would these be useful? This is still possible even with the doll away. 5B, 6B, 2C, CT, (22]D[ during 2C or CT) 5C, hjc, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj, j.B, j.C, 623]D[, 5C, hjc, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj, j.B, j.C, 8]D[, 3C, 214214]D[ (5,210 Damage, 75 heat required) 5B, 6B, 2C, CT, (22]D[ during 2C or CT) 5C, hjc, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj, j.B, j.C, 623]D[, 5C, hjc, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj, j.B, j.C, 8]D[, 3C, ODC, 3C, 632146]D[ (5,720 Damage, 75 heat and burst required) These aren't probably optimized but it seems to be the easiest combo I could do in the corner whether the doll was there with me or not. Psykotik Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) Anyone know what is optimal off of N-C-O-W from a 5A/2A/5B/2B? Is this ideally where you want to go for an unblockable? These probably aren't optimal but it's something. Off the top of my head: - 2A/5A, 5B, 6B, 2C, 5B, 6A, j.C, 46D, 5C, sj.B, dj.B, j.2C, j.C, 8D, ender (damage combo) - 2A/5A, 5B, 6B, 2C, 2B, 6A, j.214C, airdash, j.A, j.C (solo recovery combo, character specific) - 5B, 6B, 623C, 623D, 5A+B, 6]C[, 46D, Lv2 6C, 5C, j.B, j.C, 421D, j.2C allecan/5C, sj.B, dj.B, j.2C j.C, 8D, ender (damage route) - 5B, 6B, 623C, 623D, j.2C, j.C, 46D, j.2C allecan/5C j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.C, 8d, ender (meterless damage route) - 2B, 5B, 6B, 2C, 2B, 6A, j.214C, AD j.B, allecan j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.2C, j.C (solo recovery combo, character specific) UBs still work in the corner so if you want to go for it, they're definitely viable. The followup that Pen_Ninja wrote down works just fine. I was messing around with doing 6B > 2C combos in the corner as Carl and found these. Are these combos good? 2C generally won't lead to optimized combos since they prorate quite a bit compared to Carl's other moves. With that said, I like your combos; they lead to respectable damage for the starter and resources used and allow for easy midcombo summons. This route's probably a bit more optimized: 5B, 6B, 2C, CT, (22]D[ during 2C or CT) 5C, j.B, j.C, 623]D[, 5C, j.B, j.C, 46D, 5C hjc, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj, j.B, j.C, 8]D[ Edited November 23, 2013 by Psykotik

wiredgod Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Any combo suggestions off a raw crush trigger, midscreen, corner, CON, NCO? Should I be doing raw crush triggers?
Psykotik Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 I don't recommend crush triggers in pressure for several reasons, namely due to how unsafe it is compared to all the other ways Carl already has to open up his opponents. With that said, if you do get a crush trigger, you can usually go into a 5B starter combo or UB setup.
Psykotik Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Random stuff I thought up: Solo DP punishes Superball punishes Everyone got anything better? I have a feeling that these could be more optimized, especially the solo combos.

I was testing what i can do on the corner after a 6B FC and i got this combo: 6B FC, 46]D[, 6C lv2, 5C, 623 ]D[, CT, 5C, 214 ]D[, j2.C~allecancel, sj.B, j2.C, j.B, j.B, j.C, 8]D[, land, 3C, OD, 3C, Oblivion. This deal 7117 DMG and actually is not that hard to do.
megamonk4 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Hey guys, I can't seem to find the timing for me to combo into 623]D[ after 5C from any combo that used 46]D[ 6C directly before. I'm assuming it's a tight link, but for me to get Con Brio to hit after 5C, I have to buffer that move before I even input 5C. If I do it afterwards, the opponent just recovers before it hits. Any tips?

Any tips? For this link to work you need to already be holding D. If you try to simply press it with 5c it will not work because Ada is off. It takes some time for her to cut on, 16 frames I think? So you need to already be holding D so that she is on, then you simply input 5c>brio. Do not delay, directly after pressing the C button on your controller, input Brio immediately then release the button.

Is there another midscreen ub combo followup I can do until I get this down, XD?

Is there another midscreen ub combo followup I can do until I get this down, XD? yes :3 623C>421D>CT>5C>623D>j.B>j.A>j.B>jc>j.B>j.2C>j.B>j.C>8D Simplicity at it's finest (tested and you get 4.1-4.4k depending on character specific combo routes) you can actually get 4.5 (I think it was 4513 to be exact) if you add 6D timing is MUCH more lenient for the same amount of damage for the other route, it's just you can't follow this up with the unblockable set up anyway (which is a pain in the ass itself to get the proration in your favor without an "A starter"). what's ideal off of a throw in the corner I'm guessing throw>CT, Tenerraza, 6C lv.2> 5C>Brio> allegretto>8D or volante plus either fermatta or Appregio in that order, let me check... 4488 is the most if gotten. you cannot connect 3C with a fully charged CT or just a regular one since the opponent will tech out of it, so you can't use either distortion. Is there another midscreen ub combo followup I can do until I get this down, XD? - (UB hits), 5A+B, backdash, 5C, 623D, sj.B, dj.B, j.C, 421D, 5C, j.B, j.C, 46D, 6A, sj.B, j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.C, 8D, ender This combo doesn't have the 6C charge route and it does very similar damage to the optimized one. This will also be your go-to combo against Amane since the optimized one doesn't work on him. What's ideal off of a throw in the corner? - Throw, CT, j.2C, j.C, 46D, 6A, sj.B, dj.B, j.2C, j.C, 8D does pretty good damage. Edited January 10, 2014 by Psykotik

wiredgod Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I'm running into problems with this unblockable setup: 2A, 5B, 2B, 5C, 46D, jump, AD, j.ABA, j.2C, j.AA, [j.B+3D] I'm able to convert this easily on Jin and Amane (haven't tested all characters), but I'm not able to do it consistently against some of the other characters: izayoi, hazama, Terumi, others. The problem I'm running into is that the 2C will sometimes whiff after the j.A and I'll simply fall to the ground. Yet other times I'm able to do it just fine. I've tried for a few hours to diagnose what I'm doing wrong, but no success. My hypothesis is that it has something to do with the input timing on the 46D. Any insight?

Yes and no, the problem is around that area but. Its actually the timing of the Jb, if you IAD jb to soon ada wont recover fast enough to push them into the j2c because some characters are way to skinny... Like Lichi
sinder Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 ^that Also, I had 46D whiff on amane after 3D (he only gets hit once) Spacing for certain characters Is definitely awkward
