Lancer's considered that good now? Used to be people just hated dealing with his speed in the way they hate dealing with Millia's and Chipp's, but neither Millia nor Chipp are considered high-tier because of it. And if it's tourney results you're using, I think Archer's had better results than Gilgamesh.

Anywho, would either of you care to elaborate on Leysritt? Is there anything of note about her that makes her better than a not-as-sucky Assassin?

Um, if SBO is your measure, Rider + Rin composed more than half of the top 8.

More detailed breakdown from shoryuken's forums: 3 Gilgameshes and 3 Lancers qualified, but so did 3 Riders and 3 Rins and 3 Sabers. Berserker dominates with five qualifiers. Of the 3 Riders, all get into the top 8; of the 3 Rins, two do; but only one Gilgamesh and one Lancer manage. One of the latter is 138.

I don't think SBO 2009 was a valid source of tier info. If 138 had been playing Archer instead of Lancer he probably would still have won, after all.

As far as PSP goes, I can vouch for a few characters. Zero Lancer is 10x worse than Lancer ever was. Assassin is better than people give him credit for. Luviagelita is tough but it's hard to get her throws in at the pace the game goes. Leysritt has some kind of defensive Super-armor thing going on, reminds me of Q from 3rd Strike. Saber Alter seems to be able to gain meter quickly compared to other characters, so it's easy to get full meter long before the Grail is full. I haven't been able to confirm if Saber Lily is in this or not (although Gallery says she is, also one of Gilgamesh's costumes can't be shown in Gallery for some reason even though it's unlocked)...I tried unlocking her with Saber Alter in Arcade Mode but nothing happened. I might try playing through Saber's Arcade Mode a 2nd time...it seems beating Arcade Mode twice with everybody gives more unlockable stuff.

Saber Alter is Saber's 3rd costume, if I recall correctly. So yes, she is in the PSP version. Also, Q didn't have any super-armor moves or a big halberd of death. Your analogy confuses me.

No, no, and NO. Saber Alter is her own character. She has 3 sets of costumes. 1. Dark Armor 2. White Dark Armor 3. Gothic Dress. Saber has 3 sets as well. 1. Default Armor. 2. White Armor (this is NOT Saber Lily) 3. School Uniform.

Um what. You can combo into her command throw. You don't just throw it out. It's integral to her stupidly easy infinite, after all, so of course you can combo it.

If you're getting full meter with any character, you're playing someone who sucks too much for you ever to need to burst, or you're doing it wrong.

IIRC, in the PS2 version you have to beat Arcade Mode with Saber and with Saber Alter to unlock Saber Lily. It's probably the same in the PSP version. She'll show up as Saber's fourth costume, but it's a unique costume in that her name under her health bar will actually change.

I dunno why but Saber Lily didn't show up till I unlocked all the 3D models. She's a 4th costume for Saber.

true, 138 dropped archer for lancer, but that doesn't mean the other chars are hopeless. what lurker points out is quite right. first of all, berserker rose from bottom to A since the game's release, and the rest of the A tier can definitely compete with lancergilga as well. rinfinte for the lolz.

Oh god, Rin has an infinite now too? >_> It's been a while since I played this. Last I knew, the only infinites were Gilgamesh's (THREE wtf, most of which can be started from ANYWHERE), Caster's (corner infinite, easy to combo them into the corner in the right places, and still loops a couple times midfield), Archer's (requires stupidly fast button pressing, not even sure a human can do it), and Bazette's Berserker-only one.

I assume you mean a pseudoinfinite, anywho: enough to kill the opponent, so it's effectively an infinite. Can't see Rin actually pulling off a jewelless infinite, and using jewels automatically makes the combo limited in duration. D'ya have a vid?

Oh blah. Saber has the utter stupidity that is Avalon. Don't tell me any non-Arturia character is broken in canon. Except maybe Shirou, who's way more stupid than Gilgamesh. Shirou has MAIN CHARACTER powers. Of course he's broke. But he almost kills himself when using his powers, unlike Goldie who can spam GoB all day laughing like a moron. And not even mentioning Ea, which is just hax. Avalon is hax as well, but it's defensive, not offensive. And it requires a lot of mana which she doesn't have while Goldie can spam Ea if he wanted to. Gil is the most broken Servant in the story. Even Nasu says so. So why the hell did they have to make him broken in a fighting game? So us Gil haters can hate him even more? How's Kotomine? He pretty decent in the game?

Avalon PROVIDES SABER WITH MANA, too, not to mention the fact that its passive, mana-less regenerative abilities allowed Saber to recover from a full GoB spam in minutes. It's stupid. Add that to Saber's utterly retarded stats and skills (c'mon, her fucking INSTINCT lets her dodge an attack that WARPS CAUSALITY) and she's horribly broken. Yes, Gil rapes most people whenever he actually tries, but him beating Dark Sakura's uber-regeneration is questionable even if he hadn't underestimated her, which makes the Jeweled Sword Zelretch ridiculously powerful...and that was traced by Shirou. Gilgamesh is blatantly, intentionally broken (pulling a fucking Ancient Babylonian spaceship out of the Gate of Babylon is just wtf), but Saber and Shirou are overall much more retarded. As for Kirei, he's solid, but his slow keys aren't much of a ranged game, so combined with his low mobility he has issues with keepaway. Not that most characters are particularly good at keepaway, so I'd say the only matchups that affects are Shirou and Caster, neither of whom get in their real damage at max range anyway.

Hold it. The only reason Saber's instincts lets her dodge an attack that Warps Causality would be against Lancer and Assassin. Even still, Gae Bolg was dodged only because she was lucky. She didn't dodge it, she just had a high enough luck stat. Any subsequent use would have killed her unless she's in Avalon.

Against Assassin, she already bent his sword once. That's the only thing that allowed her to win.

Oh, whoops. I think I got confused over Avalon. I was thinking about the fight between Saber and Gil in the Fate route, and yeah, the mana thing was only for Excalibur.

Dark Sakura would've beaten Goldie even if he was prepared because her powers are basically poison to Servants. As soon as she touches him it's all over. Also lol Vimana. ANCIENT SUMERIAN NUCLEAR SPACESHIP.

Shirou only traced the Jeweled Sword correctly because of Archer's arm. If he just used UBW like in the UBW route, he wouldn't have been able to trace it. And the arm kills his mind, so it's a broke power with a limitation. But anyway, I think we can agree that anyone who's a Servant is automatically hax in their abilities.

Damn, why is this game only for PSP? I don't have one. Put it on the PC or PS2, dammit! If I had this game I'd play only Dark Sakura and Kotomine, since they're my two favorite characters in the story.
