MattyD315 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 So, I've finally got the input down to a science, 632146 always gave me trouble, but now I just quickly switch over to the analog stick and I'm getting it 100% of the time. My question is when is the best time to do it, after say, a Jakou or 3c > Jabakai? Should I try and input it right before they hit the ground, right as they hit the ground or right after they hit the ground? I always seem to miss it due to the opponent Teching since it's so hard for me to keep it in a Red Combo, so it's very frustrating. Any tips? Also, I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, as all the other "Archive" threads are locked, and the non "Archive" threads are all for CP, so if it's wrong, feel free to move it where it should be.
Putin Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Jabaki > Mizuchi doesn't work midscreen, I don't know if it does in the corner but there's almost no reason for you to do it You'll almost always do it after a 3C, with the rare exceptions of Houtenjin > Mizuchi if it's gonna kill and they have a burst, and 5D > Mizuchi usually after a 3C > Jabaki > enemy gets into the corner > 5D, even though the last route is far from optimal and doesn't offer anything situational like the first one. TK loop into proper character specific spacing > 5C > 2C > Gasshou > 3C > Mizuchi is where you're gonna be using it most of the time, even though people rarely use Mizuchi altogether. Oh and you have to do it ASAP pretty much off of anything lol
MattyD315 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Ah, this is very helpful. I was wondering why I could only get it to land off of a Jabaki against scrubs hahaha. The only time I ever get it is after they Tech the landing and snatch em on their way down. So just skip Jabaki and go right from 3C, got it. And I'll give it a shot after TK-Loop > 3C as that sounds beastly. And generally do it ASAP, alright I'll work on it. But if its ASAP after 3C I guess my "Switch from D-pad to A-stick real quick" method is gonna have to go. Shitty Xbox D-pads.. Bane of my existence. Guess it's time for some training again! And I know Houtenjin is the more popular of the 2 Distortions, but boy oh boy, is Mizuchi so fun to watch. And that's about the only thing making my infinite runs of Abyss so fun LOL. Thanks man.
Putin Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I switch from the D-pad to the analog stick too on the fly, no troubles with it. I use a dualshock though so I don't know how good or bad xbox pads are
MattyD315 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 I LOVE PS controllers. I have since '96. IDK why I let peer pressure sucker me into trading my PS3 in for a 360. I'll be getting one again soon though, and I already have a fightstick for it, but I'll have to put up with this 360 garbage for a little while longer though. Just imagine your D-pad being a floating disk as opposed to 4 separate buttons. I know there connected underneath but the set up just works so much better on PS. And I guess I'll try and stick with the switch, just with cat-like reflexes hahaha.

In some rare midscreen combo situations you can do 3C > Jabaki > 5D > Mizuchi for a teeny bit more damage.
