Excuse my newbness but whats the diff btw the gates, and which one is better for beginners? KOBE I won!!!!! MY HOS raped him/My Axl beat him(close matches) Also, I tried his stick a bit and beat him once in Marvel. My mashing has really lessened, even when nervous.

I would say the octagonal is more beginner friendly; however, I find the square gate much better since you don't have to work as hard to press up or down, also you'll know where your corner is for your SRK (DP) motions or when you need to block low (or if playing a charge character). It's all preference really, but sometimes a stick will limit you to what you can do at times.
ParryPerson Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 oct gates only seem more newb friendly, really the square gates are much better as you don't have to "guess" which way you blocking, you know. I'm pretty sure daigo and all those guys play on square gates.

It doesn't matter how you hold it, if you get used to holding it a certain way and you can get the stick moving to how it should work, then it shouldn't matter, since I've seen wineglass and pencil style for a lot of different people and they're fine.

I was talking to Kevin, Jan, and Jake has posted in the SRK thread that they were probably going to this mainly because Raekwon is going. That doesn't leave much competition-wise for GG IMO. I was against having this tournament on the day of regionals, but the guy had it planned for Mardi Gras weekend because he wanted MvC2 and beads+titties assist, so you can't blame him much.

I'm interested in this event, and depending what my budget says and housing, chances are I might make it to this event. I can't really plan anything at this moment, but i'll talk to the houston peeps next time I hit up there again (which may be this weekend) on what exactly is going on. But then again, I got no idea who Raekwon is ;o

Apparently he doesnt know anything about other characters normals that he doesnt play, which he admit, and I find that fking hilarious. He even said truthly robo ky 6p was 4 hits, and im not kidding, and didnt know what robo ky 2p looks like. I can not make this up.
