anthony2690 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I've said that the ps3 version of extend felt delayed compared to Xbox ever since I got a ps3 last week, and some guy was giving me agro trying to make out it runs better on ps3 what it doesn't, also looks like quite a bit of slowdown during ragnas astral on bbcp, please make a 360 version as it will run better
Death Wombat Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I thought the slowdowns were due to games being primarily made for one system then being ported to the other caused it problems. Well seeing that they only released it for PS3, maybe it wouldn't be so bad or even noticeable. This is just my assumption anyway. maybe if they released this game as a digital copy for ps4 things will run super smooth, but idk if that would happen due to the no backwards compatibility. Just thinking ps3 games released post ps4 may be able to go on digitally.
PozerWolf Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 So, having played on all types of PS3s from Slims, to Super Slims, to fats for long periods of time, this is what I've ran into: The game generally has slowdown in certain situations, like when doing a rapid cancel or whatever. Frame rate drops VERY little. However, this seems to effect all PS3s. The only thing I've notice slowdown is that on the Super Slims, after a long period of playing (3+ hours), the character selection screen will slow down heavily. However, during actual gameplay, it seems unaffected. One thing I will say, while in training mode, there was this one time where all of a sudden the game paused for an entire 2 seconds and continued as normal. Why it did that, I have no idea, but it's only happened to me once.
Pen_Ninja Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 My local scene has seen some pretty bad lag in BBCP (Framerate issues, not delays and such. It only happens in situations where a lot of 'stuff' is happening. We get the most problems when our Azrael player plays against either our Mu or Rachel players and starts eating projectiles with Growler. 2 steins followed by 'Arrows of Heaven' into a Growler Field will lag the game half the time. George and 'Sword Iris' into a Growler Field tends to cause problems as well. On top of this, some stages are worse than others. Currently we're considering banning Snow Town because there's a blue-ish mist that shows up on the right hand side of the stage about 15 seconds in (and disappears after another 10 or so) that causes the above 2 situations to slow the game to what seems like about 15FPS and causes noticeable problems with many other situations with less 'stuff' happening. Long story short: The game doesn't like Growler and the blue mist on Snow Town causes things to die (more)

Because you've basically got Growler 'absorbing' all those 'projectile' hits, each of which causes a short pause as it is absorbed...
PozerWolf Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 I have notice that sometimes in certain stages, Ragna's D DP, when performed mid-screen on certain stages will cause the game to lag heavily. The snow stage is popular, but we've never encountered anything like you mentioned Pen_Ninja. Very odd. And what type of PS3s were you guys playing?

I'm sure it's not hit-stop, I thought it might be so I went through and tested it pretty thoroughly. When I managed to get Growler lag, things that usually don't get slowed down by hit-stop were still slowed down. Things like the background, other on-screen projectiles and the in-game timer/time limit all slowed down. The snow stage is popular, but we've never encountered anything like you mentioned Pen_Ninja. Very odd. And what type of PS3s were you guys playing? I was only able to test on the slim PS3 but we've had issues with both slim and fat. The lag doesn't happen purely due to the mist in Snow Town but it makes it far more likely to lag when there's a bunch of stuff happening. The mist is only around for a while and I believe it only shows up on the right hand side of the screen so to get the lag I was seeing you need to be on Snow Land when the mist shows up, on the right hand side of the stage and even then you still need to be doing something with a few projectiles at once. I'll grab a video of it pretty soon and link it up.
PozerWolf Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Rest assure, some slow downs are normal in the game as certain parts of the game will slow down even on the arcade version.
Soviet Bear Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I had a very odd issue on my PS3 (Super slim) where the game would freeze in offline play for a third of a second (enough to make you drop a combo and be noticeable). I think it may have been because the BBCP disc was in my console for a month and was the only thing I played. When I switched to another game to test out whether there were such issues, nothing happened and then when I went back to BB, the freezing stopped. Still no idea what was up. Other than that, only slowdowns I had was charging Shippu with Hakumen in OD while Kokonoe was doing her Black Hole. Completely wrecked my framerate.
outputrotation Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Considering that monitors display at 60 hz, the only real framerate is either 60 or 30. More than 60 will produce tearing and anything under 60 will force the monitor to display a double image and wait for the next refresh essentially putting it at 30 fps. There is no 59 or 61 or what have you. If the game slows down it will temporatily go to 30, which is noticeable. Without any real scientific tests done on bb with ps3 -which i haven't seen any of- its all speculation.
