As dumb as it sounds, try to find a copy - via emulator or whatever - of like, SSF2T. Or maybe one of the older Fatal Fury games. These older games are total jerks when it comes to inputs, so if you can get your motions down precisely enough that you can DP reliably in them, then you'll have excellent, precise execution elsewhere. I disagree with training on Xrd or something, because modern anime games have all kinds of floppy input detection that can create bad habits. -
Yeah; The CPU can't really teach you matchups beyond like, the properties of moves, because they usually won't do things remotely the same way that a human does. Relying too much on the CPU for "how does this matchup work?" is going to result in a very skewed perception of how each character plays.
-
Spacing and hitconfirms are about all you can get from the CPU - that and more combo practice. In theory you might also be able to learn some punishes, but a lot of the time the CPU does dumb things like mash after unsafe moves, so as often as not this doesn't give good information. Oh, you can probably work on your anti-airing a bit too, and maybe even a little throw teching.
-
Am I the only person still checking this forum? :P Why isn't there a CF Q&A thread? What are the first combos I should be putting in time to learn? I've basically been doing abbreviated CP combos so far, and they mostly do okay.
-
Yeah, I too am frustrated by this. There used to be LOTS of info here about BB games, but now it seems like I can't even find out if like, some random move has invuln for part of its animation. Very frustrating.

What's the reasoning behind using j.BB>j.BCC instead of the old j.C > J.CC? Does it do slightly more damage? work in more situations? What's going on? I'm still habitually doing j.C > j.CC and I'm not seeing a noticeable damage difference.
-
Also, what is 22{D}?
-
I realize it's a punish combo, but sometimes I fish for 5B (CH) > 6C hits, and 6C is pretty easy to hitconfirm into Install. And with us generally having more charges now, having 2 stocks isn't out of the question. Air conversion sounds sadly awkward. =/ I'm always looking for something I can do after air hit j.CC.
-
I assume that works from 5B as well, just with reduced damage? (Also, see earlier question about air conversions?)
-
Beats me! But okay. Delay. Gotcha. Does this mean it is possible to convert air combos to ground combos using j.236A>j.214A?
-
Maybe I'm old and forgetful, but what does the j.236(A) (with parenthesis) notation mean? Is that a whiff?
