That Sol player wants nothing else than to land wild throw though. It's basically all he seems to go for. Anyways, more advice: Hitconfirm 2k, or at least followup to 2s so you can hitconfirm that Learn to 5H FRC and combo off of it 5H ch > don't do 3x6P. I usually go for dash command throw, but if you wanna 6P then at least do only one so you get the KD, or do some form of combo off of it (2k 2s 5h frc > whatever)

lol ya i think the sol player is pretty good...his main however is order sol, and my main is ky @nehle, what do u mean by KD? And if I score one 6p, how can I do anything else other than -mat -IAD -FB

Keep playing until you get comfortable with the character.

In the short term:

1) Develop a solid wakeup gameplan, i.e. learn the safe wakeup games you can play on other characters, like meaty 5P or bazooka (depending on the characters), and execute it every time you knock the opponent down. Once you've got this down, work in the riskier mixups like command throw and such.

1a) Know when you get a knockdown and then always get it (like off of random 5K x n)

2) Understand what the best combos you can get in a given situtation are, especially off of your wakeup mixups and random CHs, and get them every time.

3) Whenever you do something, make sure you have a reason for doing it. Don't just throw out a poke because you can, because you haven't done it in a while, or just because you feel like it; do it because it controls space well against some character, or because you have frame advantage and you think they're going to try to throw something out at you. At first, this is difficult because you aren't intimately familiar with the situations your character is commonly in, but eventually you'll learn what to use and when to use it.

Really, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're a decent player, you'll pick it up as you keep playing until you don't know how you didn't understand it before. Usually by then, though, you don't really care as much. :psyduck:

We need more vids for robo I think from everyone so we can get a better idea of some of the match ups most of us dont play. Even if you dont play well or you dont like showing how you play online or something. I myself gonna bring a vcr and record matches from top players during FRXI. Gonna have vids of me and Msong doing robo beasting ^^.

I have a few vids posted in various threads here on dustloop: AI ranbats, CUT, WTX. Im usually labeled as Xyth since thats my normal handle or brandon possibly, though AI and CUT are pretty old and ive improved quite a bit (i think) since then.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7LAEWh6Yog should be my most recent from WTX. Stormlocke should have vids in the same threads.

Yeah I'll try to get some vids of myself recorded at FR. I've been meaning to get some recorded for awhile now but never really got myself to get them recorded at gatherings.

So I was just in training mode and i was practicing a little on getting that fourth lvl2 missile more consistently and i started double tapping and it worked well. Then i was like, why dont i do this for all my missiles? So i was trying it out with TK missiles and it works so well for me. It already feels like im going to be more consistent and also get them lower to the ground more consistently. Can also usually get more missiles in a single jump using this method. Anybody else do this? Im pretty sure this is the way ill be doing it from now on.

Posted

the way i do it is like strum my middle finger and index finger over the button so like as my middle finger is releasing my index finger is starting to hit so that i get multiple quick inputs.

Like trying to do the bridget yoyo bug type of double tapping? Btw you need a dazzle to record the vhs tape to computer. I think the lowest one is 60 bucks though.

Posted

thats it? but how do you get the vhs tapes to a computer?

does your tv or vcr have a a/v out? If so, buy a usb capture card for your computer, and record it that way.

anyone have an answer to my q's a couple posts back?

what do u mean by KD? And if I score one 6p, how can I do anything else other than

-mat

-IAD

-FB

KD = knock down, which a one hit 6p on a grounded opponent will do.

I think he was saying comboing off the hs CH not the 6p.

Though you can combo off a CH 6p in the corner.

(at work atm, please excuse the obvious things i could prob look up) regarding the 5H frc, i wanna start workin it into a ground-air game i see that robo-dash lifts, and 2s can... but is there any other good moves i can start a combo with thatll lift? i was thinkin maybe horsie, but im unsure what levels would lift, and if i could connect appropriately im just tryin to ween myself off of det-mode, so if i can work in 5h frc-air comboz-missile spam... that would be awesome! another side thought, im in love with 5k 5k 5s 5s mat combo if i aint gettin knockdown... but its feelin dodgy sometimes, anything basic that spaces well i can mix it up with? i know the knockdown combos for it, but sometimes im not going for knockdown ^_^ just tryin to liven up some convos, and upper-ing mmy skill at the same time

Level 3 Horsie floats on hit, you can follow up quickly with a 5hs FRC combo. Even though you said ground to air game, J.s counterhit also bounces, allowing you to land then 5hs FRC~whatever. Normally you should take the knockdown, but if they are blocking you can try something like 5k, 5s, 2p, Bazooka/2hs. If your opponent is FD'ing though many times you'll have to improvise.

Thing's that float/lead to air combos: CH j.S -c.S CH j.HS (near wall) CH or regular hit Robo Dash BnB:5k/5s/2s or any other variation that leads into 2s Horsie: non CH requires 5HS frc to continue into air combo. Off of a counterhit you can just run up and 5s>air combo. If you are point blank and CH with it (think okizeme as throw bait) you can run up and do a superjump JI combo (though I have trouble doing it on certain chars) so while lots of moves float your opponent, you only need to do 5hs frc off of 2s or a non counterhit horsie to continue to air combo. otherwise just do c.5s (unless you really need the extra damage off of 5hs to kill)
