thatotherguy Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Can you only FRC the knee rocket (2HS) on hit? I can't seem to FRC it when I don't hit it. Or maybe the timing it just very tight. Any tips? On getting that knee rocket, I've been trying, for a visual cue its right around when he puts his hands on his ears, I think its also somewhere in between what he is saying. maybe right between when he says roppongi. I haven't gotten it down pat yet, you're probably better off just muscle memory-ing it.

iora Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 command grab prorates 50% dont do it unless its the only way youll get it to hit plus if you whiff that grab, they will DEF escape... so no blockstun into mixup or nothing

Better dust combos, you were getting a lot of damage off dust in your matches but you should have been getting more. Less 5hs frc in pressure strings, or i guess just better block strings...any time you wanted to continue attacking you did this. There are cheaper ways of doing this. More command throws, im not sure if you even attempted one in those matches if you did i cant remember but you definitely weren't doing it enough.

Veven Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 The reason you overheated so much was mostly from j.H, usually after an air dash j.S. If you gatling to j.P instead you'll avoid that situation more often, and, depending on your air dash height, you can still hit j.K (or w/e) before you land to avoid being thrown. It's good for continuing pressure on the ground, but Venom should 6P you out of that once he catches on. Alternatively, you can FB after the j.H to lower your heat and continue pressuring in the air, but I'm not sure how strong that is since I don't do it. I don't remember seeing any bazooka, you used robo-dash instead. It worked for you a few times, and it's viable for a fullscreen knockdown situation where you don't have time for 236S. However, it seemed like maybe you were using it as throw bait (?) when you were in deep. Following up with 2P, 5D worked really, really well off of that though, which was pretty funny. Still, bazooka is awesome, make Venom spend 50% on his DAA. Lastly, stay down more. Oh, and L3 j.236S at fullscreen neutral is your alternative to RTSD'ing, although I can understand why you wouldn't do that against Venom. Backdash that 6H at it's max range instead of getting CH! (I assume those were fS/Steam) Sorry if I'm ranting. :shy:
Zaido Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 i will try to keep those in mind. since i am not really a frequent robo user, i usually dont remember what options i have in my arsenal except what i vaguely remember back in #R :V... and some of Slash, though i will try some alternatives.. Sometimes if you see me get hit randomly from a block string by 6H, maybe was cause i was tryign to IB it and got hit causei missed timed it...other time probably was cause i was trying to steam XD.. anyways thx for tips.. will try to consider incorp it in match, if i remember XD...

I have to admit I've been dicking around with other characters this summer (like CH, JO, KY, PO) versus playing RK. his combos get kinda stale after awhile, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. But I am still best with RK by far, and will use him if I end up going to MWC this weekend. I have an awesome new secret tech too that even the Japanese don't know about. I'll experiment with it some more and see if it's worth it, but right now it looks good, specially if nobody else knows about it.
