BBCP Challenge Mode Bug

I randomly stumbled on this bug in Challenge Mode. I'm absolutely sure it is not a controller issue, because I was still able to navigate the pause menu fine. Has anyone else seen it, or has any idea what might cause it?

When the game started, I wasn't able to control either character, and the function buttons wouldn't respond. The only button that would was start. If I selected demo play for the challenge through the pause menu, the Azrael dummy would do the inputs instead of my character.

I think the game somehow got confused and thought I was controlling dummy Azrael, but because he's locked out of player control in challenge mode I couldn't control either character. Though, it was somehow able to transfer the demo play inputs onto him, even though it just resulted in random flailing.

Going back to the challenge menu would cause the bug to happen again. I had to go all the way back to the main menu to reset it.

Sounds odd, I'll report if I'll spot anything suspicious. I've completed about 50% of all the challenges.

Anyway I'd love to see dummy Azrael try to do Carl's combos.

Oh man people are gonna have a field day with dummy Azrael. That guy just keeps getting more memetic with each passing day.
