AtTheGates Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 i would advise anyone trying to incorporate stuff from the mixup vid into their gameplay to test it out in practice first. You should be the opponent, and the dummy recorded to do the mixup. i say this because: the j.S crossup can be crouched. drill kick okizeme is notorious for losing to faultless defense > grab (since you will be pushed back during the drill kick, and anything past the first hit will whiff). some of the stuff from the vid looks like it could be blocked either left or right, since it is too meaty (there's a crossup protection in guilty gear on the first few frames of waking up) ...and so on. this doesn't mean those mixups aren't good, on the contrary - as long as you make them the exception, not the rule, they will probably work quite well. But there is a good reason (well, the reasons above) why you don't see them being used by top chipp players.
B.Z.B Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 To expand on the point its great to have these BUT you need to know there ARE answers out there. Its important to know what those answers are and understand the proper counter next time you set them up - you have to condition them first. Don't just go on auto pilot & go random on your wake-up. Teach them to respect it THEN apply your shenanigans. This is really true with his wall cling oki setups.

So heres just what I had on tape. Just a few combos. Obviously not optimized or anything. You can note link freezes off that dust combo as well but its quite a bit harder. F+hs is a little easier, but main point is i hvant seen anyone do this mid screen dust thing and this is honestly a pretty easy set up to get the guy back down to the ground for mid screen dust combos. Doing DustX3 does more damage and is possible but you gotta stutter when you do it. Where as just doing hs, d,d, is basically impossible to miss since you can just mash it lol MIght play the game once this supposeded update comes out and do some of the stuff i originally planned.
B.Z.B Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Wow. your corner game was pretty sick 228 HS (JI the tele) gives Chipp a lot more options for corner oki as he can now air dash. Also I got really used to people blitz shielding the minute they get enough bar for it so it was useful to try to see their tendencies. Off of double alpha oki you can typically 228HS Cling late IAD and blowup blitzs and throw attempts. Plus since you wall clinged they will expect this to crossup, but it wont ;P - and they can't utilize crossup protection. Obviously this depends on character getup animations though and they can jump out of it, but once you know they will you can just time a meaty setup. Toss in some lows / invis and it gets really scary. Get your character specific setups & safejumps down like I have and you will be terrifying to deal with in the corner. Honestly I am planning on learning more combos that lead to a solid KD, even if it sacrifices dmg. Corner Oki should be your goal every fight IMO.... and wack 5D Corner Dust Setups ;P
