I'm not that good a Bridget player (and damn my inability to play GG in college! D: I can't test anything until Thanksgiving) but I'm fairly certain you can use the 5K to set up a jump-install on his superjump. His 6S is jump-cancellable way too early to jump-install it reliably.

EDIT: Okay, maybe I should elaborate a bit more than that, after rereading your post. Yes, you can't normally jump after a superjump. A Jump Install (explained here, with Type 4 being the case you want) allows you to have your full double-jump options available after a super-jump. Tap 8 during the 5K before trying the superjump on 6S and it should work.

DOUBLE EDIT: Gah, reflexively typing "her" on Bridget again. D:

This question might be a big vague but I thought I would ask it anyway.

I just bought Accent Core Plus after playing BlazBlue for the past 2+ months and I want to use Bridget. I'm alright at BlazBlue but Guilty Gear feels like a completely different game. What would be a good way to learn Bridget? What should I learn first?

This is before i came to dustloop, but i first learned all the special moves, learn what HS does cause i was so lost when i first played, and vs cpu's for a bit untill u get the hang of the controls. O if anything go look in the Bridget Basic thread, it has alot of good information on her.

Yeah, using Bridget IS difficult in the beginning because of his unorthodox use of HS. Wat i recommend is if ur by yourself and you know bridget's moves enough, play survival and arcade mode on a real hard difficulty (i suggest maniac but watever you prefer). By doing this you get to learn wat moves to react with and what moves are punishable and whatnot. However, playing real players are the best option...especially those that are great cuz trying to beat someone who PWNS you is (for me) the best way to get better with a character.

Practice without ever pressing Heavy Slash. Learn the fundamentals of all his other moves ridiculously well. Then learn to use the yo-yo. It's pretty much the most integral part of his offensive game, but without the rest of his moveset to back it up you're just setting yourself up for a horribly punished approach, and you'll need to learn the other moves to handle defense anyway (it's pretty damn hard to set up a yo-yo under blockstring pressure).

For the yo-yo glitch, to cancel into a roger move does it also have to be done 1-3 frames?

Vague question. Let's talk about what 'it' is.

The bears are the exact same HS input as the yo yo, as far as the glitch goes.

The GG engine allows for long delays between your directional input and your button input and the buffer still allows for special moves to be executed. Learn to maximize this time between directions and buttons to allow yourself to do the special directions, pause, then the traditional 1-3 frame HS release and re-press.

Learn a diff, fundamental character, first. So you can understand how GG works, then learn Buri. Try Ky, Sol, Anji, Chipp, Jam, Venom. That way understand conventional AA, KD, Oki, Airthrows, IB, etc. Bridget is lacking in ways so a good player relys on the GG engine itself to overcome these. eg. Not having an AA against Slayer so you either jump and airthrow or jump IB land throw. It would be easier for you to learn the game in conventional style first.

Get basics down first before yo-yo glitch, or just switch to Slayer.

oh shii!!!

Oh noes!!! not another slayer player =P jk. Yeah don't focus on the yo-yo bug unless u have a stick. Even then, thats something you should focus on later after the basics are down.

Any of you guys have any recommended 6K~FRC combos? I'm pretty sure you have to dash prime it, but I would like to get an idea of some options after the 6K~FRC lands.

deep: 6K>6+FRC>6 2K>c.S(1)>6P>c.S(1)xxKSMH~P

far: 6K>6+FRC>6 2K>c.S(1)>c.S(2)xxKSMH~P

Alright thanks jais...i coulda sworn you did something like that in one of your match vids.

how come I never see 6K used that much in buri fights?

Mahouko, it's not used that much, but it is a nice arsenal to have to throw in, especially when you have the opponent fuzzy guarding a roger rush or razor roger. Plus, it looks so cool when you get it off on someone. I know i've seen Jais pull it out once in awhile and Ruu definitely uses it.

I added a second 6K>FRC combo

how come I never see 6K used that much in buri fights?

Because of it's negative qualities. Scales insanely, crazy slow( esp for us seasoned players who played since XX when it was faster and 2 hits)

I only use it if I have meter to FRC it or the absolute last hit. Even then I have no set-ups for it... I use it when I am pressuring. I read my opponents behavior and know they are only guarding and not trying to escape, counter poke, dp. That kinda thing comes from playing lots and lots of fighting games and understanding your opponents...comfort/behavior. not necessarily using 6K or playing Bridget or playing GG for that matter. Which gets back to my other suggestion: the best way to learn Bridget effectively is to already have great fight game fundamentals or learn these fundamentals separately from learning Bridget.

I have a question. How do you do the combo at 1:56? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5p-y0qKopY

I would like to know what the input is and if you need to do something before hand like get some momentum going or whatever.

looks likee....

otg kickstart (JI so like 2369KK or whatever it is) RC j.P->j.K->j.P->j.P jc->j.p->j.P->j.K->j.P->j.P-j.K->roll->j.P->roll

lol looks like fun

Damn...i luv that OTG combo, but it is what it is, combo vid material. Still nonetheless that is a sick way to finish someone off. Correct me if I'm wrong but i think that only works with characters like Faust because of his weird hitbox when he's otg'd, similar to that of Baiken when she can do a 2D-->j.D on certain characters (faust and i think may).

that would be horrible if someone finished you off like that if you were in a tournament... and they caught it on film......

Yeah...horrible for the victim, but definitely style points for the distributor.

Its just OTG hits, nothing special. Plenty matches have opponents doing 2k > 2p x n > f.s (or millia lust shaker) to finish that last bit of health off from their opponent. If you want style points practice some dash split then start beasting people with f.s/6s into dash split combos.

ok, not really a question, i just wanna rant. So its been awhile since i played guilty gear due to tekken and blazblue, but i played it with my buddy whos is ranked the best zappa in md, during this fight im have had lots of issues dealing with zappa's vomit, my friend spams it at neutral game...u let it hit ur feet ur in stagger for a combo, u block it ur in so much fucking guard stun he gets free pressure, u try and poke him...he just back dashes and spits on your poke....so u jump it most times u might avoid it but if he spaces right he will jump and air throw u on reaction, vomit comes out really fast and it travels pretty far and can mean the difference in losing the match with getting hit by it just once. Zappa shouldnt be able to kill u with full health off a low and full tension thats pretty stupid to me. Now on to some more issues, callback is fucking slow as shit its not easy zoning with it because many characters just out run it, and tryin to use it to extend my pressure sometimes the stun is off before i even get there and bridget runs stupid fast. Another thing is, dead angle....i hardly ever use it...but i find myself using it when i really dont feel like blocking forever, however i have been smack out of my dead angle on several attempts because 6p is too slow to counter fast attacks on block. To add to it bridgets overhead is fuckin trash why cant he have a nice one or atleast be allowed to cancel his overhead into a call back or set? I think im done for now, bridget is still my dude but i tell you im really sick of working so damn hard to win and my opponent just beats me off somehing stupid like a low, or command throw when i have full health.Or spams sumthin like a.b.a jump hs.

Bridget can special cancel her 5D with 214K. Against Zappa. 2P, All Day. Sounds like you are not conditioning your opponent either.

zappa has a move that hopps over 2p while on the ground he also runs and summons in my face while im poking with it. the vomit will hit me if im poking with that move also, best believe i spamm it, i now the match extemely well.Im not suer what u mean about conditioning but i been zoning really hard and running away until i get an offensive opening and its hard due to the fact that when zoning callback can be out ran by many characters.
