Squared Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Wouldn't it be a fair and easy solution to give late entrants losses in all the rounds they have missed including the one taking place at the moment of their arrival? -If this seems like a bad idea, please inform me why because I have not been to any formal tournaments.

Typically when I run tournaments, I allow late entrants during the first round of the tournament. After the first round, I don't let them in. Some organizers might punish with a bigger entry fee or something, but that's up to the organizer. Since I seed the brackets, the best players are the ones most likely to get a bye. So, if you enter late, I have to put you in a bye spot, which will be next to the best players in the tournament. It's kind of a punishment: showing up late so your first match is against Mike Z.
ZONG_one Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 That's what happened to me in guilty last time. >.> Fucking hate potemkin. It's a fair way to play it though, imo. You were late. You get a salty spot. Oh well, at least you got in.
Gravelneed Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I went to NEC which was my first tournament ever. I got owned. Hard. I don't know what happened. It's like all my training for years went out the window. I play Zappa so I knew it would be a major uphill battle but man, it was crazy how fast I got beat. Then I did casuals with FaultyDefense's Venom. I tried to get tips but he could only help me out so much because nobody plays Zappa. I don't have anyone to play GG with at home. How do I train for my next GG tournament with no high level players to go against? I plan to go to one of the TeamSt1ckbug tourneys in NYC sometime.

(Thats what I did) I'm in the same situation as you, I cant play with high level players casually and the only time I get to play them is at tournaments.
Gravelneed Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Shit.....but you're so good Mahouko. lol Well, I already fight computer on Maniac . Guess I'm gonna have to change up my stategy in practice though. Learn what move is best in what situation fo rall the characters..... There aren't many Zappa players @ these tournaments. I didn't see even one @ NEC. People were giving me props just for picking him. lol I have learned you have to really patient when playing as Zappa though. Can't just rush in.
